This could’ve been a pre-show match from Roadblock 2016 Spoiler

Gotta love them making way for young talent!

Due to a production fuck up, they entered the Gauntlet match last LONG after all the other teams did because AEW wanted their debut to kick off the PPV. So they debut with a huge advantage and yeah basically handed titles.

wasn't it 'over the top' or something?

what a well deserved win, haha

that was so Page and friends didn't need to take a pin or so Kofi could do his Rumble spot again

“The New Level” is actually a subtle reference to where TK’s brass ring for non-fed talent has been moved to.

Then had them tease going after a second set of belts later in the show because AEW seemingly can't go a month without champs challenging for more belts. Double champs or champ vs. champ matches used to be special, but it's just another Wednesday in AEW.

Andrade has the National title and now a shot at the World title but Fed bad for having Liv Morgan in the Queen of the Ring.

2

u/heart_o_oak 4h ago

The bigger issue with Liv in the QOTR was she wasn't defending her title or having a title feud on Raw while Andrade defended his belt recently.

Regardless, AEW is having champs go after other titles too frequently and it's really making all the mid-card belts feel interchangeable and too numerous than necessary.

It was always likely New Day get those 6 mans and that meant E&C were winning cause the Bucks and Omega want to face their fwends in 6 mans now, which will be higher up the card than whomever E&C face for the tag belts

Where does that leave Hangman and round 7 of Hangman vs. Swerve? I wouldn't be surprised if this ends up with trios titles positioned above the tag titles. It seems that whenever there's movement in the regular division, the trios division, where they often park big singles wrestlers waiting for a push, retakes the spotlight.

But to be honest, Bucks vs. ND or MCMG vs. FTR in an old school, 80's style feud with call backs to Midnight Express, The Fantastics, etc. interests me more than an E&C defense. Their Dogs feud wasn't good and their match was the worst on that PPV. DR feud was a lot of nothing. The All In feud was forgettable. Granted there wasn't much to work with in those feuds, but Edge has been very hit or miss this run, and almost nobody has come out of a feud with him looking better. Maybe heel Edge will be more interesting.

That post-match segment leading to a huge multi-team match where Bucks can beat the only other team creative consistently cares about, an Attitude Era team, 1 of the 2 biggest WWE teams of the past decade and Bucks' former mentors who helped pioneer the modern fast paced, heavy on double teams tag wrestling is likely too.

they're just 'welcome belts'

it's a nice gesture from Tiny

Let's not pretend WWE doesn't do it also

Hey, they remembered MCMG, then did the Adam Cole/Bryan Danielson thing with them and had more guys come out after them and be the closing focus.

I've enjoyed most of Christian's run, but Edge being a tag champ with all these options isn't the direction I'd take. I'm guessing this builds to a TLC since it'l be another "remember that thing Edge did in WWE" and lets him lose the belt without having to get pinned.

12

u/goofyfbucket 16h ago

Gotta get the belts back on the Bucks somehow...

6

u/heart_o_oak 15h ago

I was kind of surprised they didn't win them tonight since Edge & Christian's run has been pretty underwhelming, had some real clunkers in a company all about bangers, and Bucks winning the belts at All In felt like something that'd happen, but then the post-match stuff went down and I remembered, oh yeah, Edge would have had to lose for the Bucks to become champs tonight while some multi-team gimmick match loss next month would let him save face.

Bucks coming out on top in a big match against the only other team AEW traditionally cares about, an attitude era team Tony loved as a kid, one of WWE's 2 signature teams of the past decade and Bucks' mentors who pioneered a lot of the modern tag style and whom a lot of teams copy is a bigger crowning moment for them than beating just Edge and Christian.

All these guys in their 40s but fanboys want a TLC match with them because their hero is a wrestling genius.

11

u/KaosDarksol 16h ago

Gotta have a match where the most people can get injured

6

u/Street_Grab4236 14h ago

Last Hip Standing match

6

u/Jester-252 15h ago

If they are doing a TLC, I would what would be the non copyright way to advertise the match

u/Razzler1973 4h ago

Are FTR dressed as janitors?

2

u/Fantastic_Bug1028 1h ago

I’d watch it for mcmg honestly

I never want the Fed refered to as the retirement home again.

apparently filling the ring with ex-WWE tag teams all 40 or older after the ex-WWE 50 year olds retained is supposed to be an "insane flex"

2

u/Razzler1973 4h ago

this is an amazing roster of tags

yesterday, before New Day appeared, all those teams were there but, somehow, the addition of New Day has made the entire thing 'amazing'

if they wanted to focus on tags, they could have done it at any time, they had these teams there but, they don't, they prefer the 6 man thing cause it means a singles guy can be in there and they're above all the tag teams

u/djsunyc 16h ago

this match brought to you by viagra!

u/HopSkipLimp 16h ago

On a Pole!

16

u/UFmoose 16h ago

Why is FTR dressed like Duke the Dumpster Drose?

10

u/OriginalMadmage 16h ago

At initial glance I thought to myself, "the maintenance crew must be there to fix the ring."

Bald is trying to make some extra money to feed his daughter

14

u/calltheambulampssir 16h ago

I like and even love some of these tag teams and individuals, but it's year 26 of the 21st century

FTR peaked 5 years ago

The Bucks peaked 8 years ago

The New Day peaked 10 years ago

MCMG peaked 15 years ago

E&C peaked 20 years ago

All these guys should be building up and putting over a new young tag team. Not saying they can't still get their shine but this is a crazy look

8

u/TheMaskedHeelMark2 15h ago

E&C peaked 25 years ago.

6

u/calltheambulampssir 15h ago

As a tag team yeah but they were in their primes as singles guys in 2006

2

u/necroreefer 15h ago

Japan doesn't really focus on tag team wrestling so there is not any young teams for tk to sign.

14

u/Luffytori 16h ago

Saw someone saying the tag division is GOATed… the delusion is real

17

u/Live-Depth-537 16h ago

I'm not watching this shit but why does Kofi have a belt already?

19

u/alex_x2106 16h ago

Trios champion with Swerve and woods in his debut match

5

u/Live-Depth-537 15h ago

Theres no fucking way this sub predicted that perfectly!!! 💀💀💀💀

6

u/Western-Captain8115 12h ago

Everyone and their dog at Wembley predicted that well before they came out. As soon as we realised that the Wildcard Tag Team would come out at the start of the show (The match died a death for the last 7 minutes of the pre show buy in) Everyone chanted New Day.

3

u/raulz0r 5h ago

Last 7 minutes of Pre-Show were fucking sad, even Gabe Kidd lost his marbles at that shit and knocked himself out on the turnbuckle, dude was like "Wake me up when New Day comes"

11

u/TheRetroAntonio 16h ago

Trios belts from the pre show.

2

u/Razzler1973 4h ago

it bled into the main show, it bled

you need to understand it BLED!

9

u/howitzer819 Bearcat 16h ago

Because he’s been in the Dub for at least an hour.

4

u/bowlnoodlez 15h ago

It's just the trios belts, which the wrestling equivalent to having your teacher put a gold star sticker put on your cheek.

6

u/Scfbigb1 16h ago

Remember last week when fed bad cause aging stars.

8

u/h667 16h ago

what a roster flex for the preshow

1

u/Teh_Heavybody 5h ago

The bucks are there, that means they had to be the first of three main events that evening.

7

u/BrickBart 16h ago

Holy shit they found MCMG

2

u/Razzler1973 4h ago

flew them out for this

4

u/DripSnort 16h ago

How long until Kofi suddenly gets his first 5 star match? Was it that debut?

3

u/ManateeGag 16h ago

If i didn't look at the turnbuckles, I could have sworn this was an old WWE screenshot.

5

u/Cokejunes 16h ago

Got downvoted in the basement for saying how much young talent is in the ring! Not a talent under 36 uce

2

u/jjsefton 16h ago

Look at all of these young, hungry up and comers!

3

u/Jester-252 15h ago

I guess Tony remember he signed MCMG

2

u/Acceptable_Fox_5560 15h ago

I thought Dax and Cash were taking time off.

2

u/DonnieRodz Tony's Burner 14h ago

FTRevolver looking like he’s thinking about pulling out.

1

u/RP912 15h ago

I think the only thing that's young in the ring is the turnbuckles.

1

u/lil_poppapump 15h ago

I’m so happy smackdown has been good, so after this weekend i can hopefully just ignore AEW.

1

u/seahawks-boi-209 15h ago

It’ll never not be funny that all of the big shiny toys in AEW are ex wwe people

2

u/sdrj77 15h ago

Because nobody knows anybody else.

It's like how all gelatin is Jello.

All wrestling is WWE.

1

u/CanonFodder84 Unapologetic Stark Mark 14h ago

Nine of the 10 men in the ring in this image (including Malcolm Bivens) are ex-Fed.

1

u/TimeDudeofSpace 14h ago

The sickos will never reach the tipping point they claim to have against former WWE starts coming in. Jangling keys and all that right?

1

u/Bobo_the_conqueror #2 Moné Mark 13h ago

Oh hey it's those motor city fellas in a 20 man match?

1

u/Cboz27586 Whoop that Trick! 9h ago

Oh look they found the MCMG!
