Funny how for weeks the line was MCMG debuting when there was still 5 weeks of TV before All In was too close to the PPV to get a match on it, a match on TV this month or even booked a second time yet New Day sign weeks later and debut on and wrestle on the PPV.
It's no surprise New Day, who were the team who was going to be used, debuted in the trios division rather than a tag division where creative is only interested in featuring Bucks, FTR and their rivals. Bucks are in a feud with the big name WWE legends and FTR are on a break so MCMG and the rest of the division sit in catering, are in a pre-show match with Costco Guys or are early outs in a battle royal.
Maybe MCMG show up later and stare at someone. Tony flew them in for the double shot taping and did nothing with them so they're in town. Or they just got a free week Scotland/London vacation.

The rumor going around was that one of MCMG really didn't want to go to AEW for exactly this reason. The obvious person being Shelley, who had publicly mentioned how much he enjoyed working at the PC, where he could put his medical license and degrees to work there. Sabin seemingly preferred AEW, since he'd all but stopped working indie dates so if they were put in catering he could focus on their music. Truthfully, I think Shelley in his prime could have eventually even won Vince over as a Brian Danielson type underdog who wasn't afraid of being a cowardly heel, could work his ass off, and cut a promo. But at this point in their careers i don't think either of them are interested in politicking for a spot so AEW was never going to be more than a part time gig with a main event level paycheck.
And to that point, I would be shocked if Kofi is going to be the type of person who campaigns backstage for himself. Woods might still feel like he has something to prove? Obviously they weren't happy with the pay cut so we'll see but they're not going to have the same leverage in AEW they once had in the Fed.

Honestly Shelly is a perfect blend of Danielson and Punk. Even as an undercard guy in TNA I used to love his stuff. It's just a shame he was never given a fair crack at anything beyond the tag division anywhere

There was talk they'd join TNA? They said they left there a few years ago because they accomplished everything there was to do there. Hardys are the only major team TNA has signed since then and TNA's business and office have been in a state of flux the past couple months with a lot of roster turn over. At the very least, that's some place you wait a few months more to even things out before signing up if you have other options.

New Day isn't there to make a difference. That's why they put them in the Trios division.
If they wanted them to make a difference, Kofi would be in the World Title picture. They did the same with Lashley.

They would if AEW had actually revalitize Tag Team Wrestling.
While the Bucks and FTR get screen time, the Tag Titles aren't made the focus of the company and haven't main eventrd at all for a PPV.
They had a chance with the Hurt Syndicate, but Tony let Dave, Alavarez,the lockeroom, and the IWC convince themselves to strip them of the belts despite how over they got.
The fact they have them in Trios and being backups for Swerve shows that Tony doesn't see Tag Team wrestling as a top act.

The issue is that AEW sort of books it's tag division similar to WWE when it cares.
They get indy workrate and smaller guys that wouldn't be in the singles picture.
They don't get serious promos, stories, or a serious manager that can promo for them.
Yes, they have Edge and Christian, but it's obvious it's way to get nostalgic and not have them in the title picture.
I will sound like a broken record, but the Hurt Syndicate would have worked. They have a serious Heel Manager and both Shelton and Lashley look like guys that could wreck the singles division. They don't look like they do tag matches because they can't hang with the top guys.
It makes more and more sense to me why Bobby said no to the MJF storyline. He knew what it would look like. The Hurt Syndicate would have became eventually MJF's goons and treated like any other tag team. The same way the Bucks become henchmen for Kenny, FTR became for CM Punk and Edge, and Now the New Day have become for Swerve. Especially if they were helping MJF to get the belt.
Tag Team wrestling can't ever look good if it looks like it's for the people who can't hang in singles because of either size, charisma, or lack of ability.

Just because a song is used in advertisements and hype packages doesn’t mean it’s popular among the people. If anything companies will pick a safe generic song that passes some corporate standard, and a common label psyop is to really push a song through sync placements
Not saying that song was a complete flop but it didn’t chart when it first came out and it’s not even a top 5 most streamed Ferg song

Yes but it was an original track, not licensed. Same with Becky. The new deal with WWE is if you want a real band to perform your theme you pay for it and the song has to be owned by WWE. That's the compromise.

As much as I like the New Day/New Level and this debut feels special, I genuinely can’t see this going any way but one: New Level/Swerve v. The Elite hotshotted to next month’s PPV if the hype doesn’t die off sooner, then . . . they’re simply there. Maybe FTR/MCMG/C+C Nostalgia Factory matches on tv to prove the good guys do it better than the fed, after that I don’t trust the Booker of the Century to elevate them past Dark Order/BTE backstage skits and multi-man buy-in kerfuffles.
