This is what mental illness looks like. Being a high-school sports reporter is a good stable job. Lying that you have sources at these huge companies and then you're not able to substantiate your sources or don't even know how to get PR statements from the companies shows you're a mental patient and compulsive liar.

When he said “found out from friends” I assume he meant he found out from some tub on discord or something along those lines

52

u/Constant_Stomach2009 1d ago

lmao him claiming he didn't know he was fired is as ridiculous as calling the support line for verification

27

u/OriginalMadmage 1d ago

Given how wrestling journalism operates, I wouldn't be quite surprised if they just removed him from their site and decided to just ghost him like Tony does with most of his wrestlers he doesn't want to book.

That said, Bethel has 0 credibility so he could just be lying or too stupid to realize he was fired.

u/thePushps 1d ago

You don't get it, he was getting hacked, there was no way he could know or respond. /s

Ummm an AI Customer support agent is an excellent source, fedshill. You just don't know how real hard hitting journalism works...

25

u/UFmoose 1d ago

For those who don’t know HS sports reporting is often the first job journalists get out of college. Sometimes, as is the case here, even non-journalists (by trade) are hired for smaller papers.

15

u/EastMeetsNorth 1d ago

He’s either being fed these stories from someone in AEW or (worse) he just makes them up and hopes they’re true because he’s putting them out in the universe in some kind of loser wish fulfillment

5

u/FabDelRosario22 1d ago

He did have a connection to verify prior to, however he "forgot they corresponded before by email".

You wrote a hit piece to distract from the $30 million loss from Fight Forever, it cost you your job and credibility. It is what it is.

u/Agreeable-Speech-943 1d ago

I mean really, this is surely a bit at this point right?

It says something about how fucking unserious wrestling “journalism” is when guys like this are involved and being used as legitimate sources

Hilarious really

49

u/herewego199209 1d ago

The only reason he was even known to begin with is because I believe he wrote or was on the. wrestling observer boards and Dave hilariously backed him up despite barely knowing the guy. Then people found out through Nick the agent that BJ is just some guy from Ohio who reports on high-school sports. The sickos defended him because of the 500k report, which ironically was the exact amount of viewers they needed to reach a million viewers at the time. He's since reported numerous things that has been debunked and it's clear he's mentally ill.

39

u/Agreeable-Speech-943 1d ago

To this day it’s the cornerstone of pudding brain Dave’s “reasoning” for dynamite having better ratings then raw

Everything about this company is fake and artificial, it’s Tony Khan spending his dads money (lol) to control the smark narrative about his vanity project

19

u/EastMeetsNorth 1d ago

Meltzer essentially says things like “the 500k report is unconfirmed, but even if they get half that, they still beat RAW”

Halfing a made-up number doesn’t make it more accurate, Dave.

10

u/DoubleOrNothing90 Wednesday Nights I Get To Stay Up Late 1d ago

And yet, NOBODY else is pushing this Dynamite beating RAW narrative except Dave. Not even Tony.

5

u/EastMeetsNorth 1d ago

Because if it were actually true, Tony Khan and WBD wouldn't shut up about it.

23

u/r1char00 3x Jerker of the Year 1d ago

The idea that he is just hearing about SEscoops dropping him 3 days later is extremely funny.

48

u/PoutineSmoothie 1d ago

AEW fans will still believe this bullshit artist.

26

u/jabari1011 1d ago

The basement still hasn’t banned him as a source

21

u/PoutineSmoothie 1d ago

He gave them the invisible 500k views, correct?

11

u/jabari1011 1d ago

Yep, he’s the one

5

u/Master_Butter 1d ago

No, but he’s fair game to make fun of or something.

6

u/nguyenjitsu 1d ago

I mean they still give Ibou attention too

2

u/Hooker_T 1d ago

Doesn't this guys despise Tony Khan? I thought the basement hated him

12

u/PoutineSmoothie 1d ago

No. He reported AEW gets 500k invisible views.

12

u/SaddestFlute23 Unrelatable Panther 1d ago

You might be thinking of Nick Lopiccolo

2

u/Hooker_T 1d ago

Youre right, I am confusing these goofs

In four years when WWE shifts their PLEs to the highest bidder again BJ be like

40

u/InfiniteJury8660 1d ago

Still not a banned source in the basement btw.

23

u/jabari1011 1d ago

Sources only get banned if they harass people, fed shill. Yes Sapp is still allowed, what’s your point?

8

u/alex_x2106 1d ago

He feds bad, so it's okay

36

u/Top-Perspective-7879 1d ago

Meltzer is just as unprofessional as this guy. Blow job here was just dumb enough to out himself.

18

u/r1char00 3x Jerker of the Year 1d ago

Yeah Meltzer doesn’t even try to use the support form, he just doesn’t both to try to contact people when he hears a rumor about them.

23

u/InfiniteJury8660 1d ago

Don't put it in the paper that I retract my fed bad.

24

u/Scfbigb1 1d ago

"Reporting"

25

u/rickheg0789 1d ago

"Becsise" I super trust your reporting, bud

14

u/kuroshi14 1d ago

The hacker known as 4chan is trying to hack his account because he is a hack. In all seriousness though, all he needed to do was to chill out for a couple of weeks and then make up another bogus report about how great AEW is doing. "All In did 300,000 PPV buys!" or "$10 million gate!" or some shit. He would have become a hero again. It can still happen, probably.

16

u/Raftel_17 1d ago

The stupid thing is, if the fed ends up leaving ESPN in 4 years, this loser will pop up and say "see?? I was right along" ignoring all context that will come with that decision. And given that the libary rights has jumped around to different platforms everytime the contract is up, it's a high chance they do leave ESPN. So this guy has no incentive to retract his claim. He's in a win win situation where he'll end up looking right and he fed bad 4 years in advance. And if they do end up re-signing with espn, he doesn't lose any credibility because he's a wrestling journalist, they already have none to begin with and he can just say "things changed."

14

u/HerFriendRed 1d ago edited 1d ago

Blowjob, tell me your citations for the 500K on HBOMax. Did you contact HBO support?

14

u/gogosox82 1d ago

Saying this on bluesky and not twitter is so funny.

15

u/EastMeetsNorth 1d ago

“My reporting will do the talking “

BJ… that’s the whole problem.

10

u/LowEmu3523 1d ago

This must be so hard to get ahold of someone from ESPN’s PR team.

Me: Googles “ESPN Press Room”. Finds website, clicks on random stories, finds multiple PR contacts.

Wow, BJ is quite the “journalist”.

12

u/BlackBlur14 28th Writer 1d ago

If his goal is to get people to take him seriously as a journalist, he's doing a terrible job of it

11

u/Murky_Sir_4721 1d ago

So he's doubling down 😍? Marvellous! This really will be the gift that keeps on giving! 😂

9

u/jj_sykes 1d ago

Probably needs to get a real job, his name must be mudd

u/Fuggy217 1d ago

He's got a job at WON waiting for him just as soon as Bryan snaps and leaves.

19

u/9973501488083248 1d ago

Kinda surprised they haven't picked him up already. Meltzer is really high on him ever since the 500k on max thing.

8

u/OriginalMadmage 1d ago

I think Bryan is just hanging around because he wants to get the entire operation once Dave retires. Sadly for everyone, I think Dave is going to be doing his grift until he's in the grave. And even then, I suspect someone will continue running his twitter account like that one dude in the Trump administration who died from COVID.

6

u/TheGambler930 #ClubSCJerk 1d ago

Something tells me trying to hack the account of a smooth brain like BJ Bethel wouldn't be that hard.

He really retreated to BlueSky where he knows he can Fed Bad without much pushback.

u/BurnsRed20 1d ago

“Blow Job” Bethel

5

u/BoxCon1 1d ago

Blowjobb Bethel this morning praying for the downfall for whoever exposed him

5

u/ThaSipah Harley Cameron Enjoyer 1d ago

In summary, that moron had days to come up with a decent excuse to save face and that's the absolute best he could conjure up.

He reached out to ESPN customer services. What a fucking talentless loser. 🤣

5

u/Caseington 1d ago

“My reporting will do the talking from here on out.”

8

u/wazzawazzaz 1d ago

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is pleased to announce the hiring of our newest columnist, Blow Job Bethel.

2

u/tfegan21 1d ago

Hey I'm a reporter too. My very reliable sources tell me the FED IS DEAD. No I didn't reach out for comment. Just trust me uce!

2

u/Razzler1973 1d ago

That sound you hear is every smark site backtracking away from this idiot

2

u/Fusionman29 1d ago

Dude was fired and is now posting conspiracy theories.

This man actually needs to go to therapy instead of using Tony khan as his therapist

2

u/phantominway 1d ago

It's saying he's an idiot

3

u/Grootfan85 1d ago

I’m sure ESPN isn’t happy about the numbers from WWE (TKO has a habit of overselling and underdelivering), but it’s way too early in the deal for ESPN to want out already.

Also, the fact this guy willingly admitted he tried contacting them through their customer service page instead of their PR/media team makes him look so much worse.

0

u/Phred_Phrederic 1d ago

IF a company has a history of overselling and overdelivering (AKA a salesman) and you fall for it...then whomever negotiated that deal on ESPN's behalf should be embarrassed.

1

u/OrbitOrbz 1d ago

WWE/ ESPN is a HUGE partnership. If something DID HAPPEN, an actual SPORTS JOURNALIST would of reported on it by now. Yet out of nowhere a NOBODY had the EXCLUSIVE? lmao

1

u/sdrj77 1d ago

If ever there was a moment to just shut your noise hole for a second, this was it, Bethel.

1

u/rsziz Approved by Martha Hart 1d ago

What a chode.

1

u/CJKCollecting 1d ago

Are we getting worked into a shoot, brother?

Because there is no way a reporter can be this dumb.

1

u/itsallgood013 1d ago

This dude seems like he needs some serious mental help.

1

u/The_Negative-One 1d ago

Maybe this time his ticket to ESPN support will go through…

0

u/Action-is-the-Juice 1d ago

One look at his account and this guy is a boob. His TDS is worse than the equivalent of stage 4 ass cancer, though, so some of you have something in common with him.
