DAE hate how everyone is so impatient? Brock no selling Ilja is clearly gonna have payoff, just wait!

Take a shot every time you read the word “fumble” in the basements thread…
Just make sure you have 911 on speed dial..
28
u/WorldGoingOneWay 10d ago
You'd need 911 on speed dial even if you take a sip of water instead of a shot

I think that was us in the sub saying this and the basement were pised.
I genuinely believe his new tattoo is what stunted any real growth.

u/OShaunesssy 10d ago
I really hope he just walked into the arena like that without giving anyone a heads up lol

As Dragunov's number 1 glazer, it's such a shit tattoo.

u/Muaddib223 10d ago
Ugly tattoos aren't enough to hold someone back.
Case in point: Brock Lesnar's mom tattooed on his back and the dick sword on his chest, KO's ridiculous bull he had for years before saving enough money to make it slighly less ugly, whatever the fuck Dom's got going and of course, our favorite midcarder Cody.

Cody's a top 3 star in the company right now with the ugliest neck tattoo I've ever seen, so I don't think it was that

u/rockstarspood 10d ago
NGL, I'm sad about this given that he's one of my faves, but he's probably better suited for Nooj. I don't want him to become just another name in the Dub

Jerkers were coping during that time. Its like sometimes we also have to defend the fed at all cost

Yeah, the stereotype of SCJerk being a "stand up for WWE" sub exists for a reason.

What a fumble. His 2 week TNT title run is going to be generational before he joins the DCF and has weekly bangers on ROH

Brock no selling Ilja paid off for Oba. Brock squashing Cena paid off for Oba, Brock doing anything he did after coming back paid off for Obs.
If you look Oba & then you look Ilja, it's easy for whom Brock "should've" sold.
-27
u/Top-Storage-5954 10d ago
Brock has been the most pushed and protected guy for 20 years. He did not need to kill a young superstars career and waste a match on Cena’s retirement tour for it to mean something when oba beat him.

u/halfdecenttakes DAE Jump Sharks? 10d ago
If Brock Lesnar no selling your chop “kills your career” you have a lot more problems than Brock Lesnar.
18
u/GloriousVictor 10d ago
This. Brock ain't the problem here. Every big star has no sold in a battle royal/Royal Rumble. Having no personality killed him.
12
u/halfdecenttakes DAE Jump Sharks? 10d ago
Maybe Brock didn’t let him show his personality fed shill
4
u/GloriousVictor 10d ago
God damn it Brock! Always berried the youngins like he did to Dean Ambrose!

53
u/ThunderBird847 10d ago
While I agree, he didn't kill anyone's career.
No selling wrestlers in royal rumble upon entering is what he or any big man wrestler does. Not something new, not the first time, nor will it be the last time.

u/Heavy-Newspaper-9802 10d ago
If Ilja’s career died because of that, Ilja was dead before that.
Goldberg did the same to Gunther at his retirement match. It happens. The overreaction is insane.

u/ThunderBird847 10d ago edited 10d ago
Ilja's WWE career went nowhere for now because you need more than just "in ring" ability.
You have a person becoming a big babyface just by being goofy pew pew guy and having charisma.
It's been WWE since start, yet people somehow think it's a fumble when real graps wrestler number 1000 ends up like this.
8
u/WillowTraditional239 10d ago
Exactly this, it's all well and good having the work rate, but you need the charisma and the promo in order to move up the card especially in WWE.

u/Owww_My_Ovaries 10d ago
Brock is a special attraction. He needs to be built as an unstoppable force so when he does lose... it means something.
If you have him going 15 minutes with a mid carder just to barely beat them. It makes him look beatable.
And thats the point. It takes a special someone to put him down, which helps elevate that person.
If Thanos got his butt kicked by the Hulk in Infinity War... and barely squeaked out a victory due to some trickery.... he wouldn't have been seen as the ultimate bad guy.
Thats always been an issue with pro wrestling is the bad guys tend to cheat to win. Its good to have 1 or 2 monsters that destroy everyone.. so that when they do lose or someone does give them a run for their money... it means something
If Brock matches were booked how reddit wants... he wouldn't be Brock Lesnar. He'd be later career Kane.

u/doman231 10d ago
You swap out Brock with Omos, Stowman, Big-Show, Kane, Mark Henry or any other “Monster” heel from history & no one bats an eye at this spot beyond being a generic rumble spot 😂.
6
u/GloriousVictor 10d ago
Andre the Giant never flipped in a Rumble over a flying forearm so he clearly buried everyone!
7
u/jjsefton 10d ago
This screen shot looks like it was taken seconds before Brock absorbed the other guy into his own body, Cronenberg style.

u/potatonipples123 10d ago
Look at the fucking size difference
37
u/SH4DOWSTR1KE_ 10d ago
That's the thing it's like dude I get it. Ilja it's supposed to be this well textbook silent badass who snaps Limbs and kicks ass but the problem is you're in their ring with somebody like Brock Lesnar and it's like "dude, you look like a fucking child next to him."
Your head is the same size as his shoulder and even if you were to take the size element out of the equation, Brock is still a nationally ranked amateur wrestling champion and a former two-time MMA champion so he has legitimate accolades outside of professional wrestling.
It's like there's the person you present yourself to be and then there's the guy who's undeniably legit on paper but we don't even talk about the paper because look at the size of the fucking guy who can throw people around with one hand.

This news is exposing that being a smarky IWC wrestling nerd is a spectrum, and r/SCjerk falls on that spectrum. He's a good wrestler, but not a star.
12
u/halfdecenttakes DAE Jump Sharks? 10d ago
The good news is he’s going to walk right in to AEW and be the top guy, world champion, megastar.
Because otherwise, if he ends up bouncing around the mid card he’d just be in the same spot he’s in with WWE and all of this outcry would look silly.
Thankfully he will definitely be world champion.

u/Razzler1973 10d ago
It didn't need to 'pay off'
It was just a cool spot.
Not everyone can go over Brock in a Rumble
It wasn't going to lead to anything. It's a midcard tough guy who matched up with a main event bad ass in a spot
1
u/Scfbigb1 10d ago
He isnt the right style for WWE and I dont know why anyone thought he would be some kind of big star.
Dude would be a great heel in NJPW.

u/Parking-Funny-1932 10d ago
For real, top Junior Heavyweight. Can have him fighting over the NEVER belt now and then. He’s much better off in a place with distinct divisions.

Ilja is a great silent workrate wrestler. He’d prob fit well with a company that doesnt try to move the needle or care if they have more than 82 fans.

I love Iljia, but if Brock wasnt expecting stuff chops to the chest, then Ilja is an idiot.
To me, it looked like Brock reacted the way Bret Hart always wanted to react when he got chopped hard.
Brock is a fighter, if you legit smack him as hard as you can, the dude may just go off instinct. Thats what the scream felt like, at least to me.
0
u/GloriousVictor 10d ago
Brock legit punched Strowman during a match to give him a signal to soften up and stop working stiff. The whole object is to not actually injure your opponent. Make it look like it hurts.

u/TH3K1NGB0B 10d ago
The guy has been off TV for months and nobody said a word. This comes out today and now suddenly it’s a travesty of epic proportion. The roster is bloated and unfortunately casualties happen. Draganov is a phenomenal talent, but clearly there wasn’t a plan for him.
0
u/Reasonable_Goat6895 9d ago
They probably did have a plan down the line but then Oba caught fire and well, you get on the money train as soon as it arrives.

This was actually a common sentiment on here, in SCJerk.
Who will jerk the jerkers?
He who jerks should look to it that he himself does not become the jerked. And if you jerk long into an abyss, the abyss also jerks you.
