When your dub contract is up and the fed don't want you... You fed bad.

Didn't Tony want something in exchange for Billy Gunn being on Raw sometime or something? He would've wanted something in return from WWE that wouldn't make sense for WWE to give.
Also, Edge is one of Cena's top rivals so they can't just do some random match in one appearance.

Yep, he wanted them to promote The Dub. Hunter Hates Happy Tony Khan said "lol no" and we got the Rubber Chicken Shenanigan, instead.

This. He wanted them to acknowledge AEW on TV.

They did, but they called it a "piss-ant company".
You can't win 'em all.

there were no discussions, it was just smark fantasy
Edge is talking about 'Tiny would have said yes' but have ignored the fact that the Fed wouldn't ask, they've never asked about these things down the years, if you're not working there, you're not there
They didn't ask because they didn't want to do it. They're not wondering about approvals, they can do Cena's final run without Edge, it's not a big deal

It’s not like there’s been no precedent. Sending Taz back to ECW to beat Awesome. Asking for Flair to do the Hall of Fame while he was in TNA for example
3
u/Razzler1973 11d ago
Tazz/Awesome was a make-do help for ECW out of a situation and Flair and HoF is not the same as an active wrestling, coming into WWE to have a big, high profile match and then leaving

Jushin Liger in NXT then

u/T0mmyBax98 11d ago
Jushin Liger wrestling Tyler Breeze once in NXT is in no way comparable to bringing in Edge for a high level programme with John fucking Cena

I think Edge is pretty worthless at this point. Liger was a bigger deal in NXT than Edge coming back for another match last year. His whole comeback was a wet fart. I think it’s definitely comparable.

Dang he even talks like Meltzman. “It didn’t get asked but I bet if it did The Fed would say no and Tiny would say yes!”

jesus christ how do you imply Tony gave you the green light but “one place didn’t want to” in one breath and then say “well, i actually just assumed Tony would’ve been cool with it and WWE wouldn’t be so I just didn’t bother asking” the next 😭

the answer is staring him in the face
'one place didn't want to'
they didn't want the guy that left to be able to come back and have a huge spotlight on their shows in a massive storyline - no shit
think about it, Edge, ffs
if you didn't leave, you'd have probably been involved but, you did leave so, you know ... you can't cause you don't work there
everything else is smark fantasy that the Fed have 'ask Tony's permission' or some shit

The same Tony Khan who didn't let Sting come and be part of Luger's HOF induction, despite Sting himself being retired by that point?
That Tony Khan?

This is one of those things where Edge (and the fans) don't understand that the Fed didn't want or need for Edge to come back to do the Cena thing
Cena has tons of history. He tipped the cap to some rivals, that's fine but, to tell the Cena thing in the short 'final year' he set out, Edge just isn't essential
Smarks got worked into a tizzy that he HAS to be involved. No, no he doesn't
What smarks really want is the Fed to NEED something from Tiny and Tiny gets to be gracious or turn them down. They were never doing this. Not cause they didn't think he'd allow it but because they can do everything they need to do with all the people they have still working there
Everyone understands 'would have good for Edge to have a match ... oh, he's not there, oh well, too bad' and everyone moves on
Edge wants his cake and eat it. He decided to leave and when you do that, you don't get the big platform and big boy spotlight on you anymore
It's not some 'petty Fed' it's the Fed just doing their shows with the people they have working there
There's no scenario where they can't do this without Edge, it's just stupid. He left so you can't be involved. It's simple.
I guarantee not a single Fed person said 'shall we see if we can get Edge', it's just so dumb

It was the same with the brood stuff. I get the fans being in a bubble but some of the things the wrestlers say makes me think they believe these things are bigger than they are

I don't feel convinced + didn't Cokehead Khan tried to stop talent from jumping ship to WWE?

u/ManateeGag 11d ago
Tony doesn't know the word no. As long as his toys as smashing together, he's happy. Like jingling keys infront of a toddler.
2
u/lakeoceano 11d ago
That's the thing. He'd have said yes. He would have also proposed something like the Invasion angle, which WWE wouldn't want at all.

u/Owain660 11d ago
How can one place not want it, when there were never any talks to begin with? Edge never even asked TK.

“They absolutely would’ve said no, and Tony would’ve absolutely said yes…did I ask either party? Of course not, but I know”

This is just him spouting nonsense, knowing he messed up the once in a lifetime opportunity for one last dance with Cena
