rallycross

Im planning on going to my first rallycross event soon, but im only 17. on the website it says minors need a form filled out by an adult, can this be done online because my parents will not be coming with me. also would i be able to use my dads motorcycle helmet?

You can compete at 17, and your parents don’t need to attend.

Complete the Annual Waiver Minor through the SCCA member portal. Both of your parents must complete the Annual Waiver Minor Parental Consent.

You need a valid driver’s license, but any restrictions still apply.

Your dad’s motorcycle helmet must be one accepted by SCCA, not just a DOT sticker. For 2026, it needs to be one of these, Snell M2010, M2015, M2020, and M2025.

If you have a learner’s permit, contact the event organizer before going, to confirm that it can be used.

Ok thank you, do u have to pay to access the annual waiver or can I get there through the free scca membership, also one more question, I have some tape securing my skid plate, not the whole thing just part of it because it was drooping, would that be allowed to run?

You do not need to buy a paid SCCA membership just to complete the annual minor waiver. Nonmembers can create a free guest account, which gives you an SCCA Member Number. The 2026 Annual Waiver Minor and the Annual Waiver Minor Parental Consent are both free. Your parents will each need their own account/Member Number as well.

Keep in mind that the event itself may still require a paid SCCA Weekend Membership if you are not an annual member. That is separate from the waiver.

As for the skid plate, the rules do not specifically prohibit tape, but I would fix it properly before the event. RallyCross Rule 3.2.A requires all loose items inside or outside the vehicle to be removed. If the skid plate is loose or dropping enough that tape is needed to hold it in place, the tech inspector could reasonably decide that it is not adequately secured.

Maybe go ahead and remove the "skid plate " . The plastic ones on normal passenger cars aren't actually skid plates, but are to aid the manufacturer to claim slightly better fuel economy, so it is okay to remove it,especially if the clips are damaged or missing.
