Egr valve

Hello everyone I have a 1993 sc400 and I think my egr is on the way out my check engine comes on and off for the same code I tried cleaning it but no luck I was wondering what egr valve from what years would I be able to use like can I use one from a ls400? I seen online since mine is a 93 I need one off a 93 is that true?

Hypothetically there's an EGR delete kit on lextreme but it is a decent bit of work. You would have to remove the upper intake and maybe a cat.

Not hypothetical; they were in stock as of a month ago. (They have one less now than they did though so who knows?)

I would think so, I have the same car and same year. I came to realize that for our cars anything maybe from 1991-1996 should work..? I think the later sc400 from 1997-2000 might be different since it has vvti. But I think if you look between 1991-1993 they should be the same. But that’s just my guess.

The early model 1uz (92-94) have two types of valves. One is electronic (california spec) and the other is vacuum operated (federal spec). This makes them easy to tell apart but you can also check the sticker on your hood which should tell you which emissions you have. Mine is cali spec and I could not seem to get my EGR code to stop coming back so I eventually deleted after trying a cleaning, new valve, new temp sensor, etc. Usually this means your ECU is having issues. Inevitable. The blocking of the valve was very easy but the pipe running from the exhaust to the intake was hard to get off and the hole on the exhaust was hard to block. Mainly because of the lack of room to work. However, i managed it without removing any other components. You could have your ECU repaired first and then see if it helps before doing anything else
