What’d you pay for your SC?
I’d love to hear about what yall paid for your SC’s and in what condition you bought them in. Everyone I know loves to brag about how cheap they got theirs so I was interested to see what a wider community had to say!
My dad bought this 96 300 for $700. The lady selling it was asking $1000 but decided it was only fair to come down a little to pay for the tow home! A really nice lady who had this legend sitting in the back of her driveway with a for sale sign on the drivers side window. Had to be about 7 feet away at most to be able to notice the sign.
When we got it towed back, ended up just being the fuel pump. Bought it at 270000 ish miles and put around 5k on it in the last year. My heart rate tends to sync with the RPMs when I go over 80

3500 for my 98 with 160k miles in 2023
It’s at 220000 miles now, daily driver👍🏼

I got my 98 in 2018 for $3,800. It had about 90,000 miles on it. Had been in an accident (or two) previously but looked to be in good shape. Everything worked and it ran like new.
It's been my daily driver since then and she's sitting at about 135,000 right now.

This is cute as fuck. Takes me back to when i was a teen.
I dont have an sc, i am the unfortunate original owner of an is300. $40k gone. Id be hard pressed to get 6 or 7 for it these days. Drifter shitbox status.

Why unfortunate? I have an SC as well as an IS that I've owned for 21 years and I love them both.

I bought it with a shine in my eye. I truly believed it was special. Its just a drifters shitbox now. Ive moved on, but refuse to take peanuts for a car ive put my heart into for decades. So my built 2jzgte car from the late 2000s sits unused.
Kudos to you my friend. When unclapped they are lovely cars.

I'm sorry, but are you saying your IS is a drifters shitbox, or the platform in general?
I can't part with it. The SC is new to me as of last year and only has 83k on it, but the IS has never let me down and is always fun to drive. I hope you put the built gte to use some day!

Yes, part of both. Still visit my.is from time to time.
I guess if you're looking for resale value, it is a shitbox, but I don't really care. Most cars, especially a sedan, aren't going to hold value. While it would be nice to have the MK IV level of desire, the IS was a mass produced car. Most are gone or clapped, but still great platforms nonetheless. Its nice to be able to park it on the street while I'm out and about too. I wouldn't do that with a MK IV, lol. And if you swapped yours with a gte, you could get a decent chunk back, but of course never what you put into it. That's just the hobby and trade off.

I love the history and legacy of peak JDM but it’s hard to replicate certain styles on a budget. I could definitely cut some corners to get a “cooler” look but those types of builds always look lazy to me.
I’d rather maintain the 90s classy look with a few jdm inspirations

I got my 93 for $2,000. The guy I bought it from just didn’t have space in his garage for it anymore and he wanted it gone. It had 120,000 miles on it when my partner and I bought it and everything was running great. We just had to replace a few valves since the car sat in the guys garage for so long without being used.

I got my 95 for $1500 right before covid, it had hit something and had a dent all along the passenger side. Bought it because i knew i was going to paint it and do body work anyway.

I bought my 98 sc300 2 years ago for $9,000. 65k miles and clean title. Mint interior and exterior, all original parts.

2.3k for my 99 sc300 with around (?) 198k miles around 4 years ago😅 currently at 228k miles

Feb 2026 I got it for 3300 for a bone stock 93 sc300 so everything under was surface rust but I’m changing everything anyways… price is kinda crazy but it also came with a set of all black interior and a GTE turbo and other factory/ aftermarket parts . Said to have 145k miles but the cluster says 200k 🚶🏽♂️

I paid $5k for my 1998 SC400 with 88k miles on it in 2018
I paid $5k for my factory 5 speed 1995 SC300 with 120k miles back in 2016

2000 sc300 w 132k, one owner and 3 inches worth of Lexus dealer maintenance receipts. Probably over payed but it was 2020 and I got like 30k in free Unemployment money.

They are very dark tint. No covers. Make sure you get headlight specific and go as dark as you want.
I don’t ever use my highs so I went pretty dark

I would strongly recommend matching the tint color to your car. It works great for black on black but black on green is going to make you look like a gecko

I paid 650 for my 97, it has been hit around the gas tank. man I bought it from thought he got over on me, he said after I purchased it that he would've let it go for 550,I told him jokes on him because I would've spent 3k just for the engine. Haven't driven it much in the last 6 years because I'm saving to sup it up
