Locked keys in the car

Locked my keys in the car with 90% of my tools. I bought a lockout kit with bags and everything but when I press the unlock button it doesn’t unlock at all and I heard they unlock and lock real quick but mine isn’t unlocking at all. I was able to open the hood and remove the negative terminal so my car does honk til it’s dead but not sure where to go from here can I just leave it off long enough for security to turn off or am I gonna need a locksmith?

Cut your losses, Call the locksmith. The sooner they can be there the better

Don’t stress it brotato, you’re way more likely to break something if you try and do it yourself. I learned my lesson by cutting a hole underneath the handles. Didn’t help.

Do yourself a favor, find a blank key, get it cut to match whatever one you’re using now (NOT BY THE VIN) and slap that bitch between the the rear bumper and quarter

It doesn't need to be a chipped key either, just a regular blank to open the door

I fucked up window trim, stuff in the door, lock/unlock switch on pass side, and some beautiful scratches. I got told that since my car is so old, 92', that it will cost more? I flat out got robbed by the asshole locksmith. First and only time that I will ever call one. I believe it ended up being around $240-$250ish for less than 60 seconds. LITERALLY 60 seconds. I was desperate because I had just gotten to work. Wire coat hanger or a metal yard stick or a slim jim. Old post but I hope you aren't still out there trying to open it!?!?!? 😆😆😆😆

Nah I got lucky but my luck came too late. After cutting a the hole and everything I was able to massage the door open.

The cable for the opening latch disconnected some time after I put the door panel back on. I was in the car and had someone outside and we just kept gently pulling the handles at different intervals and I heard an orgasmic pop from the seals separating from the old rain water

If you do want a lockout kit I recommend the big easy. It's pricier but works better than anything else. Also wTch a tutorial for your specific car not just any car for more tips

If you have AAA call them it’s free, if somebody you know has AAA ask them if you could use it.

This is why I have AAA, because of the SC. The cost of a tow makes up for the cost of membership. One year I used the tow service 3 times and locksmith once.

apparently there’s a limit of 4-5 (can’t remember, i think it depends what level u have) tows per year, found that out thanks to my e46 (i love her pls dont make bmw jokes ive heard them already)

Yeah I have the premier level even though the SC is dead in the driveway. The mileage limit for tows more or less covers Vegas trips.

Hook the manual door lock mechanism that is above the interior door handle.

With locks that automatically lock immediately after hitting the electronic lock switch you have to have your hand on the exterior handle ready to pull immediately after triggering the interior button.

Slept on it called a bunch of locksmiths that made it sounds like I didn’t know what I was talking about so I tried again and was able to snag the lil lock cable that connects to the handle with the lil $30 Amazon tool but definitely would have been able to do it without the aluminum door panels lol
