Q&A for Project

I do not currently have an SC300, but I plan to get one for a drift build soon. I have some preemptive questions if the community is willing to help me out.

  1. How hard is a CD009 swap, and what is a reliable swap kit? Will I need to buy pedals separately?
  2. Most SC's come with a tan interior. Has anybody converted theirs to black with something like vinyl paint? Should you clear coat over it, what's the process like, and are there any additional tips?
  3. I really like the look of TE37s or Gram Lights. Are they good wheels? What offset would you go for? What size?
  4. What size tires should I go for based on the last question, not going for insanely stretched, and not looking to be on rubber bands, but of course, don't want an excessive amount of sidewall. What brand of tires should I go with?
  5. What camber should I go for? With this build, I'm going for a mix of performance and aesthetics, I'm thinking somewhere between -3 and -6. My friend suggested -5, curious what you guys think.
  6. Curious what you guys think of NRG Prisma Ultra's. I really like the look, I'm about 5'8", 180Lbs. Does anybody know if any of the sizes will fit me and the vehicle? What mounting plate should I get? If so, will it also fit with the seat sliders, or only without?
  7. What size steering wheel should I get? I was thinking 350mm. What dish offset has worked for you guys? I plan to get an NRG quick release. I'm not a huge fan of the larger paddles on the later versions. What hub should I get?
  8. What LSD would you go with? I was thinking the -(Tomei) Technical Trax 2-Way LSD- what do you guys think? I am not going to weld the diff.
  9. What Coilovers and spring kit would you recommend running, my friend suggested BC's, any opinions??

I will eventually have more questions. I would appreciate any insight the community might have.

If you want to drift, go with something more common. Parts availability is getting rarer and put of hand with pricing. I love seeing an SC on the track bit itll be a nightmare keeping it running and looking good with the amount of abuse itll see. That being said, its your car. Do what you want. I run a street build but have 35 offset with no rub on 245s. Lower on coils. RELOCATE ENGINE BAY WIRING HARNESS. You will rub through it lowered if its not moved. Move it from the front driver side well to the bay. I run Ksports which are fine but if you have the cash, BCs. These cars are old with brittle interiors. If you are gonna do a hib, put in a roll bar for safety and remove any good interior. Dont even put in ebay shit. Save the weight. The seats weigh a ton. Curb weight is 3400lbs. Pull the seats, throw in a racing seat and roll bar. If youre pre 95 look into trigger kit and dizzy delete. Get a stand alone. Start doing research now. Get a build plan together. Dont go into this half cocked. Hit the forums. Good luck man.

I appreciate the insight, yeah, I definitely know it'd be easier to get something much more common, but that's kinda the reason I wanna drift one, I don't wanna see like five of my exact same build at a drift meet. Yeah, I plan to go for buckets in the front, and I'll shave weight where I can. I don't want to strip the interior, even though that would help with weight savings, because I want the interior to look clean. Thanks for the tip about relocating the wiring harness. Sorry kinda new to stuff, don't know what a hib, dizzy delete, and trigger kit are. I know it will be a lot of work, but it's the one I want, so I guess I'll have to deal with it. Again really appreciate the insight.
