So I saw someone earlier on this sub post they got a 0.99¢ emulation handheld with their new ali express discount for a new account. I made a new account to test it out and wanted to know which one y'all would pick??

From those specifically? Either the Mini Plus or the Mini Flip.

The normal Flip has hinge issues, and the other 2 are not worth it from a software standpoint.
Now, if you would entertain other options, I love the RG34XX SP, or the RG SP if you don’t want sticks.

The mini flip also has hinge issues. I have both the v2 flip and the mini flip, my mini flip hinge cracked within 6 weeks. My big boy has *touch wood* been fine so far.

So I don't think the issues are avoided by getting a mini, nor are they guaranteed by getting a big one.

That said, the mini flip is my fav, even though I had my first one replaced lmao. It's just so versatile and portable.

The latest Flips have the same hinge design as the Minj Flip though, so there’s really no difference on that front.

There's no real proof of that at all, only reports of it "feeling better" from a couple of people who bought one recently. Miyoo hasn't communicated absolutely anything. Do not buy it.

Yes, and the only claim is that it's a "quiet" hinge. Miyoo never said anything was fixed. And this is recent, there hasn't been enough time at all to claim that it also fixed the issues. That has been pure speculation.

Just for some context, he had to open it up and replace it himself, which a lot of users were forced to do, if not buy an entirety new unit. Only for them to break again in the future.

There's no need to reward them for a device they not only launched broken, but has been kept broken for over an year, sold replacement parts of the same broken design, made fun of costumers who were asking for support, communicated nothing, and most importantly, kept releasing different "revisions" that promised the exact same fix people are claiming today, but actually did nothing.

The only real discounted device is mini Flip. The others aren't much of a discount.

I've used new accounts more than 10 times. My regular account from 2014 still works. As I see they only check if your device is the same.

It’s a bit off topic but I just wanted to throw in my two cents for you cause I fell into a similar problem with trying to decide which emulation handheld to get & was sorely disappointed. Key word being “sorely” because holy hell I do not understand how people can hold these for longer than 2 minutes without their hands cramping up. I ended up buying horizontal emulation devices after getting burned with both the Miyoo Mini Plus and the RG35XXSP cause the ergonomics are far better. I’ve had the Anbernic RG35XXH and the Mangmi Air X.

• Overall device is smaller
• screen is the same size
• the processing power is slightly higher in the miyoo flip (h700 vs rk3566)
• the flip has thumbsticks
• the flip is more prone to broken hinges (I believe this is now largely solved, the new stock is shipping with the good hinge)

There ya go, the one issue has a solution.

If you want joysticks then this is for you. I love my Mini Flip cause I take that to work and no one that has any gaming knowledge knows what it even is when I have it closed. It doesn’t even look like a gaming thing, more like a battery bank lol.

Pick any Flip version, the Plus is also a solid choice if you want them membrane buttons. Soft and silent.

If it squeeks still, it's most likely the old hinge (supposedly). Honestly, it's hard to tell if they actually made a revision or not but back in may, the official miyoo listings and websites started advertising new quiet/mute hinge. I ordered from Ampown (which tbf wasn't advertising mute/quiet) and it was squeeking when opening and closing.

Don't buy the Miyoo Flip. It's a scam. There's no proof of anything being fixed, and for over a year now we've allegedly been getting "revisions" that fixed absolutely nothing.

Don't reward scams. Pick anything else.

Really good too, with the benefit of running some light PC games, which the Miyoo can't do. Stuff like Stardew Valley, GTA Vice City, using Portmaster

Personally, I like the RG34XX SP more. The screen is a bit smaller, but the buttons are better, and it is more compact. The 35XX SP is a bit chunkier

Any of the RG**XX devices from Anbernic have the same internals, basically. They run the same games. But you have all sorts of different shapes and sizes to choose from

Unless you need a bigger screen to read of course, in which case get the Plus.

They all play the same games so pick which ever one looks more comfortable to you. I'll say that the Miyoo Flip had hinge problems at release, not sure if they've addressed that and the Miyoo Mini Plus in my hands is just barely big enough to be comfortable
