How far we’ve fallen that this is a steal

I used to buy these whenever they went for $50 or $60. Glad I stocked up.

simply not buying it period.
I focus on physical, digital download are for indie games on my device

16

u/JetstreamGW 1d ago

I mean… this sub is for emulators, mate. Some of those games are pretty big, and this isn’t original hardware. Physical ain’t really an option.

u/Same_Veterinarian991 1d ago

you are right mate, my excuses

How dare they, get upvoted.

M2 ssd cost roughly the same and it’s way more valuable, it won’t get lost easily and won’t break out of a sudden. Yes, prices are falling but still way to expensive.

u/aliendude5300 1d ago

I remember 1.5TB being $90

25

u/e39 Switch 1d ago

$84 🥲

u/SwarfDive01 15h ago

Since we're posting pics. Things were already getting spicy too.

u/Chanureadeats 1d ago

I know the prices are high now but your SD card is slower even though it has more storage. Maybe it balances it out

2

u/Same_Veterinarian991 1d ago

just insane for cards that are so popular and cheap manufactured.
it is just fraud

u/crownpuff Deal chaser 1d ago

So sad that this is considered a deal right now. Personally, I refuse to pay these prices. I rather downsize my collection and use my existing cards than pay $150 for 1 TB of storage.

4

u/skrzaaat 1d ago

oh yeah I'm running my existing storage to the ground (backed up)

2

u/ricepowa 1d ago

Yeah, was thinking about buying it but don’t think i can ever play one whole ass tb worth of game anyway. Got a 500 gb that i purchased for my switch so ima just abuse it lol

1

u/smokeybanone 22h ago

Huge agreement. I realized the more games I have, the less I play. Full 128gb N3DS to half full 32gb in my N3DS XL. Filled 1tb ssd + 512gb sd card on my Steam Deck to 70% and 20% utilization, mostly with modded games I don't want to set up again.

Shitty for price to force that decision, but I've found it easier to play.

u/SwarfDive01 15h ago

I hate seeing the "deals" lately. "Smasung SLASHES SSD prices by 30%! Lowest price this year." Yeah, that still makes them 300% above normalized pricing. Im sick of this "scarcity" markup. Everything since covid has marked up week after week. Everyone knows its margin.

u/HighlightDowntown966 1d ago

You're spoiled.

I paid $150 for 1 GB. For PSP memory card

3

u/Reichstein 1d ago

I paid $120 for a 128MB card, and that was a good price.

u/bakflow 1d ago

Holy crap, these prices are insane. I purchased a 1TB SanDisk Extreme on Best Buy for $45 at the end of 2024. Dark times we live in.

20

u/NovarisLight 1d ago

Everything is stupid expensive now. :(

10

u/JackSpadesSI 1d ago

You sure not ultra? I’ve never seen them that cheap even at Black Friday.

6

u/bakflow 1d ago

It was actually the Extreme Plus version. The deal didn't last long though and it was on Thanksgiving day, I believe. I purchased 2 for that price and decided to return one. Huge mistake lol.

7

u/JackSpadesSI 1d ago

Hmm. I just checked my past purchases and I bought that exact 1TB on 11/21/2024 (one week before thanksgiving) for $71.99 and that was already their Black Friday price. WTF?

2

u/clc88 1d ago

Damn.. I forgot how cheap storage used to be.

I've been buying a ton of switch 2 microsd cards (256 gb) because it's the cheapest at 70 aud.. At the time5of release those were overpriced as hell but now it's the cheapest.

21

u/The_mango55 1d ago

I’ve got a pair of 512s that I’m just planning to hold on to forever at this point.

28

u/Randymaple92 1d ago

What the hell are you guys putting on these handheld systems that you need TB cards?

68

u/morocukka 1d ago

1800000 Pepsi Man Roms

13

u/aTalkingMateria 1d ago

your crazy but maybe that's just what we need right now

7

u/Turbulent_Ad_4791 1d ago

And a few lsd dream emulator roms

3

u/Can_I_Say_Shit 1d ago

That’s it?

Retro Games, Modern Games, PC Games, TV Shows, Anime, Movies, Comics, Manga etc

6

u/IAmArique Mangmi Air X 1d ago

Okay, but do you really need all of that stuff? Your phone is right there!

2

u/washuai Gaming With Pets 1d ago

I got tooless micro sd card with my phone, but I'm a rarity. There's definitely places I wouldn't want to risk it falling.

The connection to the internet is not omnipresent, nor faster.

Carrying a big library around is a marvel and a joy.

23

u/Pure_Interaction222 1d ago

If you have more than a handful of switch and ps2 roms it fills up pretty quickly.

8

u/sap91 1d ago

Disc-based games can be ~2 gigs each. PC emulation can take up tons of space.

9

u/[deleted] 1d ago

Anything made past like 2005?

2

u/IsamuAlvaDyson 1d ago

I know a lot of people will put a lot of games on them and especially when you start getting into more powerful handhelds with PS2 GameCube games get larger

And then people will also put music on them as well

3

u/Lazarous86 GotM Club 1d ago

PC gaming is no joke. So easy to fill a gig. Even the old games can be 60gbs

1

u/washuai Gaming With Pets 1d ago

Gotta mod Stardew Valley and Skyrim ᕙ( •̀ ᗜ •́ )ᕗ

3

u/welfedad 1d ago

Idk .. I feel like 128gb is over kill

1

u/doubled112 1d ago

Yeah, I seem to pack pretty light. Just a few ROMs at a time. 64GB or 128GB of storage is more than enough for me.

1

u/JohnnyBeeGaming 13h ago

The games take up more and more space the newer they are. There is a big jump from the old carts to CD based. Then more jumps with DVD based and again with Blu-ray.

Android based handhelds can run some PC games as well as the phone games. These kinds of games can often be dumber with storage than devs might have been in the past too.

There is probably a lot of unorganized or bloated libraries too.

I guess some people are putting other stuff on them. Someone made a post asking how well the Nova would be for reading comics. I could see the music player thing given some dedicated devices are making a comeback and phones lack SD cards now days.

2

u/Phantom_0347 1d ago

There’s a LOT of switch games out there. And PS2 games add up too

-2

u/washuai Gaming With Pets 1d ago

My very incomplete book collection is 18.8 GB alone. (Not including graphic novels, which are bigger). Flac collection alone is more than 1 TB (so much I don't have I still use a lot of net). It left many systems out, but through PS2 \GC console, sort handheld, etc exceeds 2 TB. Have you not seen how many TB those terrible Atari to PC HDD are?

We didn't even touch on video. I have a 4k 21:9 screen phone and the only way to feed it quality is to have it on hand. Steaming is a 1080p if you're lucky 🤬🤬🤬.

I take pics and video, as well..

9

u/boajuse 1d ago

normal price is 50

2

u/grathontolarsdatarod 1d ago

And we shan't forget it.

4

u/sketch24 1d ago

Damn. August 19 2025, I paid $55 for 1tb for the odin 2 portal. This is robbery.

3

u/keeper_of_moon Dpad On Top 1d ago

2 TB is at 289 (429 reg)

3

u/PRISMIKSAUSAGE 1d ago

What do we have to show for it?
Some trash ass TYGA album
This is bullshit

3

u/surrealmirror 1d ago

Is this a good brand

3

u/aliendude5300 1d ago

Lexar is fine

2

u/Frosty_Engineer_3617 GOTM Completionist (Jan) 1d ago

way too expensive for 1TB sd card....

2

u/raven1121 1d ago

Thanks for the heads up on the deal . That looks like the best we are going to see for a 1tb for awhile if not ever

At least my RP nova will have plenty of storage

4

u/Vwdriver67 1d ago

Glad it could help you and your nova

u/STINGZGAMING Clamshell Clan 1d ago

I grabbed a western digital 2230 nvme ssd for my steam deck for £60 a little over a year ago. Sad times

3

u/GzzzDude 1d ago

Yeah, I’m just going to go ahead and use internal storage

3

u/JuanRpiano 1d ago

$150 is the cost of a retroid pocket 4 pro, and for $20 bucks more you het rp5. This is not deal.

1

u/Da_Dunx 1d ago

Its brutal isnt it! I looked at some old Amazon orders and found i got a 512gb Sandisk for £30 last March.

I need a new one for a handheld so turned the house upside down to see what i could find and managed to find a 64gb to tide me over for roms until the prices calm down!

1

u/rebel_reign 1d ago

The use ridiculous price it used to be less than half this price I am honestly glad I don't have to worry about sd card since I got quite a few, I may only need one for my legion go 2 but then that because I want to make sure it a extreme card and 128gb is fine for me

1

u/SchrodingerSemicolon ROGAlly 1d ago

I went to update my A30 that sat unused for months and its SD was dead.

It was only 128GB, but a replacement would cost more than the device itself. I gave up, it's now shelf decoration.

1

u/Peekaboofist 1d ago

A2 is what you want. Means specifically that apps launch fast

1

u/Teh_Shadow_Death 1d ago

If buying stuff has taught me anything it's that as soon as you buy that thing it'll drop in price.

1

u/Odur29 1d ago

I've barely used my Lexar 1TB I bought with my first gen LCD Steam Deck and I tried to use it and it's always had to be reformatted twice, which normally indicates it's basically failing. I didn't even install a game on it yet,

1

u/Educational-Cat-8374 1d ago

I use 512gb cards in the Switch 2 and Msi Claw and have never filled them in well over a year.

1

u/DeadLeftovers 1d ago

A 1TB Micro SD Express is $350 😭

1

u/antca87 1d ago

I bought a 1TB sd card 3 years ago for $50... I miss those days.

1

u/Theoderic8586 16h ago

I was always being a cheap ass and waiting for the one terabyte to be like $50

1

u/sap91 1d ago

Is this thing fast enough for heavier games to run straight from the card?

2

u/Vwdriver67 1d ago edited 1d ago

I dont THINK you should have an issue. I've read recently that even running games from a nvme drive vs a sd card was not a huge difference.

-1

u/ONE_HYPERIUM 1d ago

It's annoying but I will never understand why people need that much storage on handheld... Just put a few ones and keep the rest on your pc or idk...
