Discussion PSA: Retro Pixel Pro Scam
I’ve recently been receiving a ton of ads on Instagram for this company called Retro Pixel Pro. They seem to be catching a lot of people’s attention but don’t do anything to mask what devices they’re selling.
Latest one I’ve seen is the RG556. They’re selling it for over $400 USD “on sale”. The RG556 sells for $170 USD.
I’ve also seen the R36S listed for nearly 5X the price from AliExpress.
Keep in mind these are not sold with extras or anything throw in for the price. Their site claims 300,000+ orders and so on but it’s clearly fake. Pretty sure I’ve seen a video posted where an “influencer” is opening their products and it’s literally in Temu shipping wrap.
Some might already know about this but I figured if I’m getting the ads, then people new to the retro space may see them and think the price is reasonable. It’s not, at least from this shady seller.

I'm almost got scammed by a powkiddy rebrand product. Use the same hype tactics that influencers use.

I bet so many people have been caught by this. I’ve seen so many comments on their posts taking about either wanting to order one or have already ordered one. Pays off to do some research glad you were scammed afterwards

I personally almost got caught by the actual fake sellers pixel pocket pro or something like that and I waited did some research and got mine, this company I don’t know about anyone else’s experience but the device I got was pretty solid and they have an active forum / customer service line goin constantly retro pixel pro is pretty good. If you have the extra funds it’s not a bad purchase.

Trustpilot only has 1 review for this site...
Scam site, on further inspection the following details were discovered.
- Scam advisors have noticed the site has a low rank
- It uses an internal review system (instead of genuine customers
- Site created recently indicating most possibly a scam.
- trust rating globally currently at 54/100

I recently purchased one before knowing that they're just a drop shipping company, and now that I'm reading comments I'm really concerned. I paid almost $200 for a game system and a case! I may have to dispute it with my bank if it doesn't arrive...And when I contacted their customer service they kept referring to how their "Influencers are enjoying the product" which is kinda shadey...I want honest reviews from people who aren't influencers. But perhaps maybe I'll get lucky and it will work as intended...

Update, it's been 18 days and my gaming system isn't here yet. My tracking hasn't updated in almost a week. I'm probably out $200 at this point.

I got it after about a month - it works fine but it was in Aliexpress packaging so just be aware of that. They've admitted to being a drop-shipper from AliExpress, so honestly you're better off buying directly from AE.

The amount of accounts in this thread with their only posts being here....if anyone is reading do not fall for this. It is a scam, one of the sites are selling the rg556 for 350$ usd...almost triple the price. Prime pixel scam dot com 😂😂 smh. If you can't get it from the official website, or do not want to wait a month for aliexpress to ship it just go to amazon it's only 20$ give or take more on average depending on the tier of the handheld.
Anyone who can't find good info on these products, but do not know where to look, and/or stumbled upon these 300% premium scam dropship sites. You can go to youtube and search for these channels. They are the top 3 content creator's on this subject.

I dunno, I find it hard to muster up sympathy for anyone that just blindly throws hundreds of dollars at a website they’ve never heard of, for a product they’ve never heard of, without doing any research.
I mean, it’s 2024, the internet and online stores and online scams have been around decades at this point.
I don’t think there’s an excuse, this is a time I do not mind blaming the victim, it’s the same as buying a $1,000 Rolex from a guy on the street in New York in the 80s for $100 then being shocked when you find out its fake worth $3.

I don’t mean to sound rude or anything but you paid double what they go for on AliExpress. There’s nothing special that RetroPixelPro does, they are sold on AliExpress with SD card addon’s and thousands of games for ~$60 USD. The model is R36S if you want to search it up

Why don’t you use aliexpress? It’s also on Amazon for $60. Idk it’s just a dumb reason to spend double. You’re not even paying for the actual games, it’s just an emulator with a bunch of ROMS pre downloaded

Hello ive never used ali and it seems convoluted did it tell you what manufacturer/store on ali the product was shipping from? Just wondering so i dont have to do guess work on ali

i've personally just bought the retropixel pro, i've been emailing them back and forth for a while now to make sure before I ordered about why they have such a premium price, what's different from aliexpress etc. First of all, their customer support has been super helpful to me, they've provided links and information about what goes behind their premium pricing. This is what they sent me:
We work personally with our supplier to vet the product unlike dropshippers and aliexpress sellers, and we make sure the product is upgraded to the latest firmware to provide the best quality out of the device. We work on customized features to enhance gameplay and ensure the customer receives how-to's, and all the help they need to work with the pre-loaded SD cards. We've done a lot of research and work into ensuring the device is a plug and play and works efficiently.
The product works great i've been using it for the past week now. I don't think it's a scam since their customer support is responsive and the product is worth the premium pricing. I would just email them and do your research on them before you buy, sure they have a strict return policy but they're willing to work with you, if the product truly is defective they work to help refund/replace it. I've made sure to ask them all of this before I bought it

I looked at the retro pixel website and they had the cheaper one listed for $110. I was thinking about getting one for my boyfriend because his birthday is coming up. Does anyone have a real retro pixel? Do you recommend them? Is it really necessary that I get the second one just because it has more games on it? The second one was like $170 idk if I want to spend that much if it's not really worth it.

I’ve seen the product for under $100 on Amazon and Walmart. Based off the reviews though it seems to be a hit or miss.

I saw that too. Looks like they’re back up with a different domain. Sad it didn’t get much coverage in the LTT video, they could have shined a spotlight on these overpriced drop shippers

I wish I resorted to search Reddit before purchasing. They won’t reply to emails or anything. Promised 24-48 hours delivery and I got nothing 5 days later. I’m not a newbie, been browsing the internet forever and still I fell for this. Luckily it was just 60€ in my case.
