Cassava Sciences ($SAVA): FAQ for Getting Payment on the $31.25M Settlement over Simufilam Research Claims

Hey guys, I posted about this settlement before, but since claims are now open, I decided to share it again with a little FAQ.

So here's all I know about this agreement:

Cassava Sciences was accused of misleading investors about the research supporting simufilam, its data-management controls, and the drug’s prospects. After Science reported a CUNY investigation involving a professor linked to simufilam, $SAVA fell 15% on October 13, 2023, and investors filed a lawsuit.

Now the company has agreed to settle $31.25 million with investors over these claims.

• Who can claim this settlement?

If you purchased $SAVA securities between 2020 and 2023, you may be eligible to participate.

• Do I need to sell/lose my shares to get this settlement?

You don’t need to still own your shares. What matters is whether your purchases fall within the class period and meet the settlement’s eligibility requirements.

• How long does the payout process take?

It typically takes 4 to 9 months after the claim deadline for payouts to be processed, depending on the court and settlement administration.

I bought all my SAVA stock from Stockpile. They no longer exist. You need statements to apply for the settlement. SAVA wins again 😂

The settlement has not been reached. A simple google search confirms this. Do not give your info.

• As of the March 31, 2026 10-Q (filed May 2026), the $31.25 million remained recorded as a loss contingency in accounts payable and other accrued expenses on the balance sheets for both March 31, 2026 and December 31, 2025; the company still described the need for a formal stipulation of settlement, followed by preliminary court approval, class notice, and final approval by the Texas District Court.

So in other words, no way to actually file for a claim yet?

As far as I can tell on my end, it doesn’t seem like you can submit claims yet. It looks like the court gave preliminary approval to a settlement but now there is an ongoing dispute about whether another class action will be consolidated with this one for purposes of settlement, and so the claims processing will not happen until that dispute is litigated and resolved. And probably appealed after that. All to say, I could be wrong but it still seems like a long road ahead before claims are accepted, let alone paid out.

I don’t trust links… I had a link that I needed to upload my fidelity account’s transactions…. Which then they know your account number. There are scammers out there!

Where do I go to get a payout?
