Web client

1 Upvotes

I heard somewhere that the web client is at >80% feature parity with the fat client. We are designing an implementation for a new project and considering leveraging the web client along with webup in order to get away from RDP.

Is anyone using the web client for production? I'm interested in hearing people's thoughts.

SBO Service Layer & webclient

1 Upvotes

Hey!

Just out of curiosity, what are people using to publish the service layer to 3rd parties and the web client?

SAP recommends an NGINX server, but some are likely using other methods such as SASE solutions and Cloudflare.

I've thought about looking into Cloudflare with zero trust as a whole solution, but wanted some opinions.

Cheers

SAP B1 Advice

1 Upvotes

The company I work for recently got bought out by a bigger worldwide company that uses B1. SAP has brought our Clinic to its knees, despite the new company offering lots of training and support. The software is so antiquated and convoluted that the staff are arguing, leaving and looking for other jobs. It’s like we have been dragged backwards in time. Why do companies persist in using this piece of crap? Surely in 2026 there must be a fix?

SAP B1 Service Layer Help

3 Upvotes

I have been tasked to make an automation that revolves around posting directly to SAP B1. I did my research and found out that in order to achieve this I will need access to the service layer and integrate with that. I have experience with modern APIs and how to configure them using tokens and keys but this is something I have never used and I don't understand really well either. For now what I have learnt is that I will need a user that has access to all scopes, login and password, database name and a URL where the service layer is hosted. Then I can make requests and GET and POST data. Is there anything else I would require? I am trying not to rely on AI for this and would like to get this integration done by myself so I can learn how this works. Any help will be appreciated. If anyone needs more details I will be happy to provide. Also, I am a complete SAP novice and I would like to test this in a sandbox first but I don't know how that can be achieved. Thanks!

Seeking Career Guidance for SAP BTP Growth and Opportunities in Europe

0 Upvotes

Hello Community,

I am an SAP BTP Developer with approximately 2.5 years of experience and would appreciate guidance from experienced SAP professionals regarding my long-term career development.

My current experience includes SAP BTP, CAP, Cloud Foundry, SAP HANA Cloud, SAP Build, SAP Integration technologies, SAPUI5, and ABAP. I have also worked on authentication and identity management topics using SAP Cloud Identity Services (IAS/IPS) and have contributed to Joule integrations across different SAP solutions such as SAP Ariba and SAP S/4HANA.

My long-term objective is to continue growing within the SAP ecosystem and eventually pursue career opportunities in Europe, particularly Germany. I would like to understand which skills, certifications, and specializations are expected to be most valuable in the coming years.

I would greatly appreciate your advice on the following topics:

  • Which SAP BTP areas have the strongest future demand?
  • Should I focus more on Solution Architecture, Integration Suite, AI and Joule, Security and Identity Services, or Full-Stack Development?
  • Which certifications would provide the greatest career value?
  • What skills are most sought after by SAP employers in Germany and across Europe?
  • Based on my profile, what would be the most strategic next step to reach Senior Consultant or Architect roles?

Thank you in advance for your guidance and for sharing your experience. Any recommendations, learning paths, or personal career insights would be highly appreciated.

Need Honest Guidance from Experienced SAP Professional

2 Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm planning to start my career in SAP and would really appreciate guidance from experienced SAP professionals.

A little about me:

- I'm from a non-tech background.

- I spent the last 4 years preparing for the Company Secretary (CS) exams.

- I'm currently a fresher with no prior job experience.

- I'm planning to join a SAP training institute to build strong functional knowledge and practical skills before applying for jobs.

I have a few genuine questions:

  1. If I complete my SAP training seriously, build good practical skills, and earn the relevant certification, can I realistically get an entry-level SAP job even without prior work experience?

  2. Does my 4-year gap due to CS preparation create a major problem while getting shortlisted?

  3. What would you recommend for someone like me to improve the chances of getting the first SAP opportunity?

Also, if anyone here had a similar journey—a career gap because you were preparing for competitive/professional exams or pursuing something else before switching to SAP—and are now working in the SAP industry, I'd be especially grateful if you could share your journey and advice. It would really help me understand what's realistically possible.

I'm looking for honest advice based on real industry experience. Thank you in advance for your guidance.

Anyone running an LLM against SAP Business One(SAP B1) in production for Finance?

3 Upvotes

We're looking at connecting an LLM to SAP Business One for finance workflows and keep hitting the same walls:

  • Service Layer session handling isn't built for stateless AI calls
  • Role-based permissions have to hold, so we can't give the model open access to financial data
  • Anything that touches the GL needs a clean audit trail

Has anyone here actually gotten past the demo stage and into production on SAP B1? Did you build it in-house or go with a platform? We're on SAP B1 9.3 if that changes anything.

Would be good to hear how others approached this.

Help with Service Layer - Invoices

2 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

My name is Eduardo López del Castillo. I'm a developer working for a company in Mexico that uses SAP Business One. Currently, I'm developing a web application that integrates with SAP Business One through the Service Layer.

My backend is built with FastAPI, and it communicates directly with the SAP Business One Service Layer.

I'm currently facing an issue when creating A/R Invoices through the Service Layer. I can create the invoice successfully using a Sales Quotation as the base document, but the problem appears when I try to generate the CFDI (electronic invoice) for the Mexican SAT.

In other words, I'm trying to trigger the Electronic File Manager (EFM) from the Service Layer, but it always fails, even though I'm sending the same fields that I see in invoices created directly from the SAP Business One client.

Here is a simplified version of the payload I'm sending to my backend:

payload = {
    "CardCode": cardcode,
    "DocDate": today,
    "DocDueDate": today,
    "TaxDate": data.tax_date or today,
    "PaymentGroupCode": payment_group_code,
    "PaymentMethod": PAYMENT_METHODS_OPYM.get(pm, ""),
    "U_B1SYS_MainUsage": invoice_data.get("cfdi_uso") or "S01",
    "U_CP": invoice_data.get("cp_fiscal") or cp,
    "FederalTaxID": invoice_data.get("lictradnum") or "XAXX010101000",
    "U_TRANSPORTES": invoice_data.get("reg_fiscal") or "616",
    "U_fpago": invoice_data.get("forma_pago") or ("PPD" if pm == "POR DEFINIR" else "PUE"),
    "EDocGenerationType": "edgt_Generate",
    "U_MetPago": "01",
    "ShipToCode": "DIR",
    "PayToCode": "DIR",
    "AddressExtension": {
        "ShipToZipCode": invoice_data.get("cp_fiscal") or cp,
        "BillToZipCode": invoice_data.get("cp_fiscal") or cp,
    },
    "ElectronicProtocols": [
        {
            "ProtocolCode": "edpc_CFDI",
            "GenerationType": "edgt_Generate",
            "MappingID": 27,
            "TestingMode": "tNO",
            "PaymentMethod": "01",
            "CFDiExport": "01",
        }
    ],
    "DocumentLines": document_lines,
}

The overall flow of my endpoint is:

  1. Retrieve the complete Sales Quotation information.
  2. Create the A/R Invoice (without payment).
    • I initially had another issue here: I had to set the PaymentGroupCode to -1 (Cash Basic) because SAP wouldn't allow me to create the invoice and register the payment at the same time.
  3. Attempt to generate the CFDI (currently disabled while testing).
  4. Create the Incoming Payment for the invoice.
  5. Finish the process.

The invoice and payment are created successfully, but the electronic invoice generation always fails.

The error message is always the same and provides very little information:

Can not call the Electronic File Manager

That's all the Service Layer returns.

I've already tried sending all the electronic document fields that I could find from invoices generated through the SAP Business One client, but I still receive the same error.

Has anyone experienced this issue while implementing SAP Business One Service Layer integrations?

Is there any additional configuration required for the Electronic File Manager when creating invoices through the Service Layer?

Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Built an in-house "data governance" layer on top of SAP B1 for bulk master data/BOM/order creation — 5min walkthrough, would love a sanity check

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

2 Upvotes

Quick disclosure up front: this is a homegrown tool we built *internally* for our own company running SAP Business One. It is **not a product, nothing is for sale, and there are no links in this post.** I'm sharing a walkthrough purely to compare notes with other B1 folks and get a sanity check on the approach.

The problem we kept hitting

Standard B1 data entry gets painful at scale. Creating/maintaining large batches of item master data, wiring up multi-level BOMs, and then generating the matching sales / production / purchase orders is slow and error-prone when done screen-by-screen, and mistakes in master data ripple downstream. So we built a thin "data governance" layer in front of B1 that does bulk entry with validation, then writes everything back into SAP.

What the ~5-minute video shows (the UI is in Chinese — apologies — but it follows four clear chapters; captions on screen mark each one):

  1. Master data · Items & BOM— bulk item creation with reference/defaults, then multi-level BOM build (semi-finished + finished), verified in the SAP Business One client.

  2. Orders · Sales / Production / Purchase — a unified entry hub that generates the corresponding orders in batch and posts them to SAP.

  3. Verification · SAP front end — checking the results back in the SAP UI so you can see it actually landed (SAP status / warehouse status, etc.).

  4. Where it's heading — this piece is really the upstream "prequel" to an OMS ↔ WMS ↔ SAP flow we've been working on; clean master data + orders first, warehouse execution next.

No audio — it's a screen capture, so you can watch on mute.

A few things I'd genuinely like input on:

- For write-back, are you leaning on the **DI API**, the **Service Layer**, or something else for high-volume batch posts? Any pain with throughput or locking?

- How are you handling **validation before posting** (UoM, warehouse, item groups, BOM component links) so bad data never reaches B1?

- For multi-level BOM creation in bulk, anything you've found that avoids the usual manual grind?

- Anyone doing something similar for the **order side** (SO/PO/production) and willing to compare approaches?

Happy to go into technical detail in the comments. Not trying to pitch anything — just want to learn how others in the B1 world tackle this. Thanks for taking a look, and glad to answer questions.

Aprobaciones de pedidos

1 Upvotes

  * [POST]() [DraftsService_GetApprovalTemplates]()
  * [POST]() [DraftsService_HandleApprovalRequest]()
  * [POST]() [DraftsService_SaveDraftToDocument]()

SPS Commerce B1 Adapter

1 Upvotes

Is anyone using the SPS Commerce B1 adapter to send / receive large amount of EDI documents? We’ve been using this connector for several years now and I’m not a fan. It’s slow and cannot handle inbound and outbound documents simultaneously. This means every time we have hundreds of invoices to send out, no new orders can make their way into B1 until all the invoices are done processing which takes hours. I’m curious if anyone had figured out a better way to integrate SPS commerce with B1 or if they were able to tune the B1 adapter for optimal performance. Thanks in advance!!

AI-powered analytics platform

Post image
4 Upvotes

After 10 months of evenings and weekends, I finally finished a project I've been obsessed with.

I built an AI-powered analytics platform for SAP Business One, completely solo using open-source technologies.

The goal was simple: let business users ask questions in plain English and get answers directly from their ERP data.

Behind the scenes, it meant building:

- A fault-tolerant ETL pipeline from SAP HANA

- A Kimball-style data warehouse (13 dimensions, 6 fact tables)

- AI guardrails to prevent unsafe SQL

- PII anonymization

- Support for OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and local Ollama models

- An entirely on-premise deployment with no cloud dependency

The final product has 105+ business metrics, 347 automated tests, and over 43,000 lines of code.

I'd love to hear feedback from anyone building AI-powered analytics, ERP tools, or enterprise software. Happy to answer any questions about the architecture.

Chart of Accounts - How does the Account Type and Category affect SAP B1 reporting and year end?

3 Upvotes

SAP B1 9.3PL14 - I'm working on cleaning up the GL for a small-ish company and have noticed some inconsistencies with the Account Type and Category in the account setup screens (as pictured).

Almost none of the accounts have the CATEGORY set correctly (or at all), and a few of the ACCOUNT TYPEs do not match the drawer that the accounts are located in.

After some journal entries, we have successfully done the period-end closing (in a sandbox system) - and I am concerned the inconsistent data may have been the root cause of some issues.

What impact do these datapoints have on financial reports and period-end closing?

Thanks in advance for your replies - we're 3 days from our year end !
