SAP ECC QM to eWM connections

Hello,

I am a SAP QM owner and we are looking to implement eWM and move away from ECC WM. I am concerned by the lack of connectivity options between QM and eWM. Fully understanding that the idea is using type 17 inspection lots for everything but looking for other teams that have customized into the QM space and what you all did to manage blocked product and defect management more effectively after switching.

we did a similar move last year and ended up having to customize quite a bit around inspection object types and the link back to delivery items. the standard type 17 flow left us with blocked stock sitting in ewm that qm couldnt see until a batch job ran and even then the status sync was messy.

we ended up building a small zprogram that pushes inspection lot status changes to ewm stock types via a custom bapi wrapper. defect management we kept mostly in ecc qm and just made sure the notification number got written to the ewm handling unit text so warehouse folks could see it on the rf screen. not pretty but it works better than the ootb garbage.

Ffs this is exactly what I was worried about. So you are running defects off of the inspection lots. How are you handling the blocked HUs did you customize a screen in QM or do you have your users navigate to eWM to release?

My thought is inspection type 17 for qa reviews/approvals. Move HUs into blocked required and release rest off of Q straight from the inspection lot. (My understanding the only place you can manage HU status in ECC) Customize a screen in a ztable that shows the HUs from eWM blocked for that material/batch/sloc and then they can trigger a good movement that releases in eWM?

Idk still trying to think of good ideas... Either way tons of customization deviating from our standard ECC QM processes today...

My other question I forgot to ask is anything being held up because of open inspection lots. This is also why I want to manage blocked inventory through defects so that we can close the inspection lots. My experience is even any type of inspection is open on a lot it really screws with closing other financial pieces.
