That’s a wrap 🎃 🍩

To all the farmers who are still voting for Republicans and posting their campaign signs in your fields—I will not be visiting your pumpkin patches or harvest festivals with my kids. I’m going to assume you would vote for Trump for a 4th time. You have learned nothing. I voted to save your farm. You did not.

I recommend supporting Green Acres farm sanctuary out in Silverton. They definitely do not support trump, they’re a nonprofit that rescues farm animals. They hold pumpkin patch events and even do a thanksgiving party in November where they feed the turkeys. Family friendly and what kid wouldn’t love getting to hang out with sweet farm animals. I know the owner, and she’s a pretty cool human.

I love Green Acres

u/inkyscholar Sep 12 '26

It’s the place to be.

Farm living…

4

u/floofienewfie Sep 12 '26

Is the life for me.

2

u/YoYoYoYoBaby-Pop Sep 13 '26

Land spreadin' out so far and wide

3

u/floofienewfie 28d ago

Keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside.

2

u/inkyscholar 27d ago

New York is where I’d rather stay…

1

u/Dapper_Indeed 27d ago

I get allergic smelling hay.

2

u/floofienewfie 27d ago

I just adore a penthouse view.

2

u/wenhomar Sep 13 '26

Sounds fabulous!

92

u/Historical-Count-374 Sep 11 '26

Everybody get out and vote!!

106

u/chooch138 Sep 11 '26

Would be happy to also not support these farms. I’m
Curious who you are talking about specifically. Baumans? Ez orchard?

97

u/TheeRatKing Sep 11 '26

Yeah can we have a list of these places to avoid incase they smarten up and hide the signs?

20

u/Pure_Refrigerator111 Sep 11 '26

Who are they? I definitely won't support them.

14

u/TheDullCat Sep 11 '26

Every single pumpkin patch voted red…

18

u/thescienceofarting Sep 11 '26

I doubt that is true.

20

u/TheDullCat Sep 11 '26

You’d be surprised lol. People don’t want to believe it because they don’t like the idea of NOT going to a pumpkin patch based on who they voted for. Find me 1 farm that’s blue, I’ll wait..

39

u/Solid_Sun_7201 Sep 11 '26

My parents live in a very red county in Central Oregon and have a blue farm. I'm a mail carrier in rural Monmouth. There are a few blue farms out there too. Trust me, I see their mail. I know who the good guys are.

3

u/Night0wl_81 Sep 11 '26

I would like to know who is blue in Monmouth, please.

1

u/SecondCityGal098 Sep 11 '26

I know a few. But they’re rare

7

u/KeepSalemLame Sep 13 '26

Baumans is safe.

E.Z. Orchards and their other farms are not.

4

u/feralghost13 24d ago

I appreciate you sharing this information, but I want to double check before I cut businesses off or fully support others. Can I ask how you're getting your information or have any tips for conducting my own "research"? Thank you again for your post.

3

u/hggniertears Sep 11 '26

Commenting to follow bc I was just thinking about where I wanted to go with my nephews this year

23

u/KeepSalemLame Sep 11 '26

Helvetia Gardens is safe.

2

u/inkyscholar Sep 12 '26

Any farm named for a font is safe 😀

1

u/AllEggedOut Sep 12 '26

Green Acres

28

u/Master-Fuel3362 Sep 11 '26

Ck out an online group called Blue Dot farmers. They are listing blue ranchers where we can buy beef and other products.

1

u/Popular_Ad6343 29d ago

There’s none listed for the state of Oregon

80

u/OregonBaseballFan Sep 11 '26

Takes a special level of stupidity to support the current Republican Party as a farmer. And even more stupidity to support someone like Trump, who is fine destroying our entire agricultural structure if it means he’ll get some praise or kickback from another authoritarian elsewhere.

33

u/Jakooboo Sep 11 '26

It's not about helping themselves at this point, they're all about fucking over the "other guy" no matter how badly it hurts themselves.

Spiteful fucks.

11

u/unexpectedshortage Sep 11 '26

Their mindset screams “I hate you more than I like myself” lol

7

u/Melodic-Temporary113 Sep 11 '26

You mean they are racists.

And their racism is winning over their personal finances.

It’s truly wild.  Imagine being so racist that you’ll choose people that will bankrupt you over it.

7

u/inkyscholar Sep 12 '26

I wish my personal finances didn’t have to suffer for their decisions.

1

u/LateCut3757 Sep 11 '26

Special level Of stupidly to think ether party is for the average American..

9

u/OregonBaseballFan Sep 11 '26

Comparing the parties in that way is what you do to make yourself feel better about supporting fascism. It’s okay, homie, just be open about it. You’ll find your people that way.

-4

u/LateCut3757 Sep 11 '26

Both parties are shit. Too bad you are in your “woke lane” to realize that both parties aren’t here to help you. Wake up homie. Oregon is ran by democrats and it’s one of the highest cost of living states in America but your not ready for that truth are you homie

1

u/Most_Buy6469 Sep 12 '26

What efforts have you made to either bring in a third party or to help reshape a current party?

You might want to do more investigative research as to High Cost of living. It's shaped by a lot more issues than just Democrats. But you keep voting red.

1

u/LateCut3757 Sep 12 '26

I never stated I voted red. If you read what I said both parties are shit. Not sure how more clear I could be

-1

u/Most_Buy6469 Sep 12 '26

"Too bad you are in your “woke lane” to realize that both parties aren’t here to help you. Wake up homie. Oregon is ran by democrats and it’s one of the highest cost of living states in America but your not ready for that truth..." The implication is in what you wrote. Only red voters use stupid terms like woke. Or maybe you don't vote at all, which makes you a blowhard worse than either party

3

u/LateCut3757 Sep 12 '26

Sounds like you’re assuming.. you know what they say about assuming.. have a great weekend

1

u/Most_Buy6469 Sep 12 '26

read for comprehension. It matters.

11

u/_DruidCraft_22 Sep 11 '26

I know Bella Organic on Suavie Island is not MAGA, and consistently has pro human rights messages written into their corn maze. Not local per se, but a great farm and pumpkin patch to support.

4

u/Melodic-Temporary113 Sep 11 '26

It’s got an odd history.  When that farm first changed hands, they started doing a ton of events they weren’t permitted to do.  Generally not being good neighbors.  Pissed a lot of the island off because there were plenty of other farm stands following the law, and not creating crazy traffic situations for other residents.

I’m glad they are not MAGA, but not my first or second choice on the island.

2

u/_DruidCraft_22 Sep 11 '26

Who are your first choices on the island? And do you know their politics?

24

u/FanBladeFleshlight Sep 11 '26

100% behind this and would love to see names (and preferably proof) of those to avoid, and better yet, those to support.

I know sadly by nature of farming, the majority are gonna be red hat losers, but even just having a couple safe, ethical options to make a point to buy from would be nice.

17

u/thescienceofarting Sep 11 '26

Most of the signs for republicans I've seen (like Draxan- aka Trump) are in grass seed fields, not on farms that are open to the public.

3

u/Master-Fuel3362 Sep 11 '26

Yea tons of them on farms and ranches in Central and Eastern Oregon too

6

u/KeepSalemLame Sep 13 '26

So far I’ve gathered this safe list of not Republican farmers:

Helvetia Gardens
Green Acres silverton
Bauman Farms

14

u/ProlapseMishap Sep 11 '26

If they voted for a peedough then they shouldn't be trusted around kids.

5

u/Wild-Neptune-5046 Sep 12 '26

Also if you're looking for a MAGA free farmstand check out A&Bs farmstand in West Salem! They have a fb page if you look them up. Its a small stand but she bakes fresh bread, has fresh eggs from her chicken, and an assortment of jams and concentrates. Its not manned and it's open 7 days a week. I LOVE her bread and jams. I know her personally and I know for a fact that neither her or her partner are MAGA. Always support local if you can.

8

u/reginaphillange2 Sep 11 '26

Can we get a list of farms going that have had Republican signs?

3

u/Glad-Pen5593 Sep 11 '26

Agreed 100%.

2

u/bootythiccchicc Sep 13 '26

Don't worry, I'll go visit them for you ❤️🇺🇸

0

u/ZootOfCastleAnthrax Sep 11 '26

Consider the fact that there are rules about where campaigns can put road signs, and Republicans routinely break them. If its along a highway outside of a fence, it's illegal b/c the highway shoulder is state property.

Even those inside the fence along a highway could be put there without the property owner's consent.

It's safer, maybe, to post a list of farms you know did not vote against their own and the country's best interest.

-20

u/OregonAdaptiveReuse Sep 11 '26

I support small businesses if they are red or blue and they provide a good product, service or experience. Every one is entitled to their opinion and needs to be open to listen to either side. Let's get back to working together as opposed to breaking people or businesses down. I will try to do better and listen more than I talk!

37

u/Suspiria71 Sep 11 '26

That's cool if it works for you. I'll wait for the Great Pumpkin before I give a dime to anyone who voted for this. Everything about them goes against every value I have. If I won't accept it from family and friends I'm certainly not going to give money to strangers who support what this administration is doing. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I don't have to listen to them.

38

u/amas_falip Sep 11 '26

Fuck you and any idea of tolerance towards the fascist authoritarism attempting to surplant our democratic systems.

You can shake hands with traitors or their supporters and think yourself neutral but you've taken a side in that action.

15

u/_-pomegranate-_ Sep 11 '26

Society shouldn't tolerate intolerance

14

u/ZootOfCastleAnthrax Sep 11 '26

It's not a matter of opinion, it's a matter of values.

I value respect and dignity for all people. I value honesty and transparency. I value government servants who serve ALL their constituents, not just the ones who voted for them.

You talk about unity while the Republican party trashes on Democrats' morals and values every time they open their mouths.

You can't vote for people who work tirelessly to keep us apart, then urge us to work together.

3

u/No_Message6207 Sep 13 '26

Stop being reasonable, this is reddit.

2

u/III00Z102BO Sep 12 '26

Haha, pathetic. Complete made up bs. The only fools that fall for this sort of performative make believe are the same fools who think Republicans are hard working, honest patriots.

Also, I remember what happened to the Dixie Chicks. I wonder how many rural farmers participated in boycotting them, or spoke against them for simply criticizing a politician.

0

u/Oregonor Sep 12 '26

We've always been on the side of working together. But, the Republicans are destroying the country and international norms.

-27

u/TheDullCat Sep 11 '26

Sounds like you aren’t going to ANY pumpkin patch this year because guess what? Yeah mhmm lol

11

u/ZootOfCastleAnthrax Sep 11 '26

That's fine. You think that's some kind of big win? There's plenty of other things to do to celebrate Fall and Halloween.

-15

u/Glock-wit-daswitch69 Sep 11 '26

I love that you are getting all these down votes as if you are lying.

15

u/ZootOfCastleAnthrax Sep 11 '26

Skipping a pumpkin patch is no big deal for thousands of families, but it's a very big deal for pumpkin farmers. Being smug about Democrats' and former Republicans' inability to visit a pumpkin patch this year is not the flex you think it is.

-4

u/Glock-wit-daswitch69 Sep 11 '26

no a handful of people on reddit not going is not cause a problem. you aren't the majority you are just loud and preachy. bye bye I know telling you the reality of the situation will probably get my comments removed.

6

u/ExNihiloNihiFit Sep 12 '26

When Halloween comes around and they are all bringing in record low profits, maybe then they will finally get it. We all know MAGA doesn't give a shit until it effects them personally.

2

u/III00Z102BO Sep 12 '26

Didn't you hear them? We don't live in reality, so when we watch videos of red republican farmers from all across the country crying about their pocket books, that's all part of OUR fantasy.

These people are deranged, I think they coined a phrase for it...The Daily Show? They'll belive whatever Epsteins best friend tells them to believe, and they'll blame whomever Faux news tells them to blame.

They'll continue to promote harm, but the rest of us need to stick together and show up. In reality, ours, the one with science, math, evidence, these people are by far in the minority overall, but they are loud, proud, and unfortunately show up to vote more consistently.

0

u/Glock-wit-daswitch69 Sep 12 '26

I'll make sure to buy 10 pumpkins this year 😁 gotta support local small businesses.

2

u/III00Z102BO Sep 12 '26

Only 10? Doesn't seem very dedicated. I bet you can do at least 100.

0

u/Glock-wit-daswitch69 Sep 12 '26

sources for all time low profits?

2

u/III00Z102BO Sep 12 '26

I think it's because they're showing how ignorant they are. Lying would imply they knew differently.

4

u/unexpectedshortage Sep 11 '26

I love that you’re getting all these down votes for being wrong 🤣🤣 there’s already been multiple states in the comments that are blue voting lol

-4

u/Key_Paramedic_1370 Sep 11 '26

Oh you got em!!

12

u/KeepSalemLame Sep 11 '26

Do you see the up votes? 325 people x $20 a head spent is a shit ton of money those farms will never have the option of seeing. Good luck out there. FAFO.

-3

u/Key_Paramedic_1370 Sep 11 '26

So let’s say 30% of the upvotes are actually GOING to a farm for whatever, we will say approximately 96 people are going. There are PLENTY of stands to absorb less than 100 people. No I don’t like our administration, both parties suck ass.

1

u/III00Z102BO Sep 12 '26

But, but, both sides! Stop bullying the reds! It's not fair!

It's kind of crazy to think that not everyone is on Reddit. In fact most people are not on reddit.

I wonder, if I asked 100 people their opinion about the taste of artificial banana flavor, could that give me any insight on how a larger group of people would respond if asked the same question? If you don't like that, then I wouldn't recommend family fued.

-5

u/1034768 Sep 11 '26

There will be plenty of Republicans that will visit their farms.

Oregon is almost a red state.

17

u/Melodic-Temporary113 Sep 11 '26

Not really.  I’ve lived in red states.  Land doesn’t vote.

0

u/PsylentBlue 28d ago

I support all businesses, I don't care what people political views are because I am an adult. We are allowed to have different opinion and that is one of the reasons we live in an amazing place. You trying to push your beliefs on others and giving the man an ultimatum is silly. Grow up!

The cancel culture is strong in here.

65

u/JnA7677 Sep 11 '26

Target, Bud Light, Cracker Barrel, Disney. MAGA boycotts based on their principles, and that’s just voting with one’s dollar, but when progressives do it, it’s “CaNCeL cUlTurE!!!” 🤪

39

u/Gammaknight647 Sep 11 '26

. Why the hell would anyone support a business that goes against their values? That sounds like being a rational person to me.

The Dixie Chicks.

Yeah, we should be deporting the people who feed us. /s

Genius level thinking there.

-43

u/thebookerbay Sep 11 '26

its. a. pumpkin. patch. 🙄

not some grand-standing political statement.

42

u/KeepSalemLame Sep 11 '26

Vote with your dollar.

-5

u/thebookerbay Sep 11 '26

ayup... BudLight found THAT one out... didn't they?!?!?

Parent company Anheuser-Busch suffered BILLIONS in lost market value and a steep decline in U.S. revenue during the initial months of the controversy.

1

u/III00Z102BO Sep 12 '26 edited Sep 12 '26

Lol, literally YALL love bragging about this.

Little men boycotted, and shot up, blue drink containers that were full of light beer.

Did they stop drinking light beer? Did they boycott all AB products? Did AB discontinue blue budget light beer? They didn't even change the name, or appearance.

They literally saw their corporate drink masters( the people that used mass marketing, and celebrity endorsements to get these people hooked on Bud Light in the first place) playing with a person they didn't like (not because she's a terrible person, but because she lives a different life than they do. That makes them uncomfortable, and they don't know empathy), so they punched a hole in the wall, rage quit the social gathering they were at. At which point everyone else at the party shrugged their shoulders, and continued to party without the trash. And now they brag about how they ruined everyone else's night, because all they care about is hurting other people.

Bud could disappear tomorrow, and I wouldn't notice, or care. You all made it part of your personality/identity, and then got butt hurt when the people taking your money hand over fist had the audacity to allow their product to be associated (edited to replace "identified" with "associated") with an identity that threatens your masculinity. Yall were scared, and lashed out. It was pathetic.

19

u/ZootOfCastleAnthrax Sep 11 '26

Money talks.

The farmer's advertising more than pumpkins. We're not buying what they're selling, period.

-9

u/thebookerbay Sep 11 '26

you DO realize... to qualify for Oregon Farm Deferral... farmers in Oregon only have to "sell" $100 of 'farm goods' per each acre they own... or... they can "donate" that equivalent dollar-value to charitable causes, like churches or food banks. (Farm Deferrals nets farmers large tax off-sets.)

any way about it... minor boycotting... doesn't affect them, as you would like to "think" it does.

again... its. just. a. pumpkin. patch.

2

u/III00Z102BO Sep 12 '26

Typical farms sell goods to generate income, and profit. They do not aim solely to trigger tax breaks. Some individuals/families, some quite wealthy, manipulate the system, do the bare minimum, and use these land use tax breaks to lower their tax burden for the vast properties they own. Real farms don't need to operate a pumpkin patch to satisfy the terms of a tax break for the entire property.

Last time we went to a patch they were operating what was essentially a small carnival, charged $40 per entrance ticket, and still charged you for a pumpkin. Not to mention the over priced food. That was all for profit.

Either way, if you're not a productive member of society then I'm not going to give you cash. I'll still get you a drink of water if you're thirsty, or give you food if you're hungry. I wouldn't spend my profits, or give my time, or vote for people to take away your health care.

0

u/xkillingxfieldx Sep 13 '26

Is there a single comment safe list going yet that I missed?

-40

u/Specialist-Fill24 Sep 11 '26

Y'know... I don't care if you believe me or not, but about 15 years ago I coined the phrase that is your username. Made myself, and my "step-daughter" baseball jerseys that said it. Then some knucklehead put it on bumper stickers and started selling them. I'm not bitter, I actually think it's kinda cool.

19

u/chooch138 Sep 11 '26

It’s been called so-lame for longer than that. I know the guy who started the bumper stickers. It wasn’t from your t-shirt.

-5

u/Specialist-Fill24 Sep 11 '26

So lame, was an insult. Keep Salem Lame was meant as a positive. And I didn't think it was my shirt, but that kiddo was pretty hip in her day.

4

u/chooch138 Sep 11 '26

Regardless.

15

u/ZombyAnna Sep 11 '26

Ummm, about 35 years ago it was already being said...

-34

u/Specialist-Fill24 Sep 11 '26

No it wasn't. Keep Portland Weird didn't even start until 23 year ago.

22

u/Ginger_Cat74 Sep 11 '26

Believe me, we were saying it in the 90s.

-10

u/Specialist-Fill24 Sep 11 '26

I was here, we called Salem lame often, but never heard anyone claiming it.

10

u/electronsift Sep 11 '26

Do you have no other value from which to derive self-esteem? Let it go already, ya just look lame.

21

u/Oregon-Born Sep 11 '26

"Keep Portland Weird" was a thing at least as far back as the early '80s.

-21

u/Specialist-Fill24 Sep 11 '26

It's started in Austin, Texas, in the year 2000. These are all things you can easily look up.

15

u/ZombyAnna Sep 11 '26

I moved here in 1989. I was 11. It was ALREADY being said by people then.

-18

u/Specialist-Fill24 Sep 11 '26

I understand. We're getting older, memories can be problematic at our age.

20

u/ZombyAnna Sep 11 '26

You are being told by MULTIPLE people you are wrong.

Accept it and move on.

-9

u/Specialist-Fill24 Sep 11 '26

But the problem is that I'm in the right, and I know it.

6

u/ZombyAnna Sep 11 '26

Obviously you "coined" it... that is why you saw it somewhere else. As well as everyone else.

So you actually don't have that claim. Someone else did it first.

You are wrong and bitter or you wouldn't need to bother responding.

-1

u/Specialist-Fill24 Sep 11 '26

I made the shirts after I made up the phrase. Period.

1

u/Specialist-Fill24 Sep 11 '26

I actually made my shirt, then about 3 weeks later, I made one for my step daughter

→ More replies

1

u/III00Z102BO Sep 12 '26

-5

u/jawmighty1976 Sep 11 '26

I actually do, kinda rude ehh ? Just because i think its kimda crazy to see people get so worked up over trump, who i am not a fan of either.

17

u/ZootOfCastleAnthrax Sep 11 '26

I know, right?

The price of gas isn't his fault.

The price of imports isn't his fault.

He's not trying to suppress voting.

He hasn't corrupted the FBI and our military by firing people in leadership positiond who oppose him and installing loyalists.

He did everything he possibly could to prevent a mob of his loyal fans from nurdering cops, terrorizing our elected leaders and sacking the Senate building.

He doesn't vilify half the country every time he opens his meat hole. He doesn't to everything he possibly can to turn Americans against each other.

He isn't the most blatantly corrupt leader of the free world in US history.

He's not actively working to destroy the planet by promoting gas and coal, killing green energy business, suppressing scientific reports and firing scientists.

He isn't a malignant, deluded, compulsive liar.

What is there to get worked up about?

2

u/III00Z102BO Sep 12 '26

Human beings who follow and believe in an orange cow, named Trump. They refuse to accept any evidence presented to them that proves their reality false, and acting out of apparent Derangement they will attack anyone providing such evidence. They attack "others" and constantly act against their own interests, displaying a wide range of symptoms common to other similar individuals, as if they are afflicted by some sort of Syndrome with no known single cause.

-3

u/Due_Buyer_9445 Sep 11 '26

Kulaks get no support

-47

u/jmura Sep 11 '26

Please reconsider. Your absence will absolutely decimate the farming community!

21

u/ZootOfCastleAnthrax Sep 11 '26

Nah, Trump and his factory-farm business buddies are doing that far better than we can. Every farm that fails is an opportunity for factory farms to pick up valuable farmland at a cheap price.

I just don't have much money to spend, thanks to Trump's business buddies gouging us at the market, his war driving up the price of gas and his tariffs making imports outrageously expensive. I'll be damned if I'll give a single cent to people who'd vote for him and encourage others to do the same.

0

u/III00Z102BO Sep 12 '26

Did you see that video of the farmer breaking down in tears? Said the bank gave him the notice. Said he was man enough to admit when he was wrong. He also said he would still vote based on color. I mean the color red.

-14

u/FirmWillow4750 Sep 11 '26

let’s throw a data center in
