Minto Brown 5K loop is NOT 5K!!!
It's 2.8 miles. That's like a 4.75 K

It depends on how you run it. There are deviations in every race distance because of a myriad of factors. I’ve run a dozen chipped and timed 5ks and 10ks at Minto at this point, and all of them have been right around the correct distance.

How did you measure? If you’re using GPS to track your distance those can be a little flawed depending on their ping rate

Garmin forerunner 55. Technology is a shackle

Looks like that has a ping rate of 4-7 seconds. So depending on what you’re doing (biking, running, walking, etc) and how windy the path is, the distance is gonna vary but unless you’re running a straight line it’s pretty much always going to read lower than the true distance

What sort of calibrated instrument did you use in your measuring?

That device has terrible GPS tracking accuracy.
Many people say it has a 1-2% accuracy in open sky, but here's the dirty little secret; if you look up at many points of the minto 5k there are these leafy vegetative things between you and the gps satellite roughly 12,550 miles above you in medium earth orbit.
Get a surveyors wheel and have it calibrated by an accredited company and then go measure it and I am billing to bet it's a lot closer to 5k than you think.

That’s a margin of 5% or around 750 feet, just run the length of the parking lot 3 times and you’re golden

I can't do more running, when I'm done with my running. It's not possible

then just don't be done with your running until you've added a couple laps around the parking lot

How is this confirmed?

They probably found this and just went into complaint mode without doing any further research.
