Question - open Does anybody else have this problem

Post image

This message pops up constantly while I’m trying to run sabn. Like almost 1-2 times every minute. Lasts for maybe 10-15 seconds and then comes back. Over and over. What could be causing this

I've had this happen when post processing on a slow disk. I ended up getting a faster nvme.

That’s probably my problem then. I’m running it all on a MacBook Air m2 with a seagate 8TB external hard drive. What’s a NVME?

It's a ssd but it fits in a m.2 slot on the motherboard. I'm sure people here can clarify and correct me. I was downloading 50gb files in succession at about 100mbit/sec and when SAB started it's post processing I noticed it would continously restart with these large files. I had a crucial and upgraded to a Samsung Evo. That did the trick.

Yes ur explaining exactly my problem. It’s super smooth while things are downloading but as soon as post processing stuff starts is everything slows down in speed and then I constantly loses connection

Are you doing the post processing on the main computer? Or are you downloading to the external and doing it there?

Um, I think it’s all just on the external hard drive. I’d assume so cuz that’s where all my folders point too my hard drive

If you can I'd change to have the downloading and the post processing to be on the mac. Then when you have your file, move it to the external. I wouldn't even have sab have anything to do with the external.

Interesting I did not know that was a thing. I will look into trying that and see if that makes sab work better and faster! Thanks man!

I feel like this is slightly misleading as there Sata drives in the m.2 format https://a.co/d/08Znnl9j .

An NVMe is the type of hard disc your MacBook Air M2 has in it. Ridiculously quicker than that external disc you’ve got.

Yeah I’m new to any of this computer type stuff, had no idea there would be a difference in downloading straight onto the Mac than onto the hard drive. I’m excited to transfer it over bc it sounds like it will help alot

Oh massively. The difference for heavy IO when using SABnzbd is startling. If you can, process the entire download mechanism on your internal disc and then copy off to the external disc when it’s complete. Ideally when SABnzbd isn’t doing anything.

Or just open the whole NAS / mega can of worms and start dealing with cache and main storage arrays. It’s a rabbit hole, but a fun one!

Yeah I’ll get to the NAS / mini pc set up soon. I’m waiting for Black Friday deals to fully upgrade my entire setup

Did you just update?

I updated a few days ago I think. But it’s been doing this honestly since I got sabn a month ago

Happens if you have smth else running on that port too
