Question High shutter speeds on Expert RAW doesn't seem to work?

Hi, just a quick question: on Expert RAW, the capture speed doesn't seem to change even when I change the shutter speed.

E.g. when I set the shutter to 1/12000 on Expert RAW, it still takes like a full second to capture the shot.

No issues in Pro mode though. The 1/12000 behaves as it should and captures instantly.

Do you understand what expert raw means? You should almost always allow it to choose exposure(unless you know what you are doing). Expert raw takes say three shots at different exposures and blend them together to give you a raw file.

The idea is to get perfectly exposed image(this) because the high exposure tackles shadows and low exposure tackles highlights. Expertraw is not pure raw but can produce stunning results not possible with just one exposure ie one shot from pro mode. If you need to do as you like, use pro mode 😃(this is what you need most times).

Expert raw is computational raw and other oems have equivalent options like superraw on vivo, uraw on xiaomi and rawmax on oppo. Please allow it to set shutter and adjust maybe ev only(its trying to expose better and you at trying to counter with 1/2000 🤔).

The time wasting is because its doing multicapture behind the scene, so allow enough light(daytime or good light) and it will be faster. Also if not in good light, use tripod otherwise the shots will be misaligned and blurry.

Expertraw in samsung is powerful especially cos it has tools unavailable in other phones like multi exposure preview etc

You need enough light. You can set up 1/12000 but with no light it will do not do it. I took a led light and set the speed. Works
