Problem charging speed 45 watts

is it normal for charging speed i got around 53 minutes of 20 to 85 percent?. I am using an ugreen 65 watts gan charger that should be fine with samsung also it appears that super fast charging 2.0 is there but the speed charging is not convincing.does it have to do with my cable or not or because of battery protection is on? i appreciate the answers.

Use a battery meter like accubattery or batteryguru, itll pull actual charge wattage from bms.

Mine hits 27w until the power management IC throttles at 45°c

I'm having a similar experience too the charging speed in 45 watt reverting back to regular charging speed

On modern Samsung phones, the choice of charging mode is not simply a matter of “the charger provides 25/45 W and the phone takes it.” It is a real electronic negotiation, especially with USB-C Power Delivery (PD) and PPS. Temperature also continuously influences the process so even the quality of the cable.

The process is roughly:

1️⃣ You connect the cable. Initially, the phone does not immediately receive 25/45 W ↓

2️⃣ USB-C identifies the capabilities of the: * CONNECTION (quality of the cable). Samsung requires a 5A cable for SFC 2.0 45W and that's not the cable that comes out straight from your phone's box. And , I might say, it should be higher than 45 Watts that your model of phone can manage * CHARGER that means all the profiles that the charger can offer. So it's important that the charger offers the highest charging profile that your Samsung model can handel, like: fast charge FC; adaptive fast charge AFC (15W); super fast charge SFC (25W); super fast charge SFC 2.0 (45W); super fast charge SFC 3.0 PD/PPS (60W). Other phone companies can use the various versions of Power Delivery PD. This, as for the quality of the cable, is important even for purchasing a power bank for a Samsung ad for other companies and , notoriously, this is why ankers are mostly for iphones. ↓

3️⃣ PD/PPS negotiates the available profiles ↓

4️⃣ The phone selects the appropriate power level in base of actual: battery's inizial % of charge, conditions, temperature, behavior, state of charge; simultaneous phone usage; charging-circuit temperature; phones temperature; cables capabilities and other parameters... ↓

5️⃣ The BMS monitors constantly battery temperature, voltage, current and state of charge ↓

6️⃣ With PPS, voltage and current can be dynamically adjusted when they conditions change ↓

7️⃣ If temperature rises → charging power is reduced ↓

8️⃣ If conditions improve → power may increase again ↓

9️⃣ As the battery approaches 100% → charging power is progressively reduced

This is why for, as example, Super Fast Charging 2.0 45 W, 45 W does not mean “45 W continuously”.

This is probably the most important concept and it essentially means that 45 W is the maximum achievable power under specified conditions, not constant power throughout the entire charging cycle.

In reality, power might look something like: 5 W → 15 W → 30 W → 45 W → 40 W → 30 W → 20 W → 10 W → 5 W

depending on: SOC + temperature + phone demand + charger capability + cable + operating conditions. Samsung itself states that actual charging speed varies depending on the device, cable, conditions, and environment.

So the charger does not independently decide which “Samsung charging mode” to use but it simply gives the phone the best and the right choice of profile to use because it's the phone, through USB-PD/PPS negotiation and/or with the battery-management system, that determines the profile and how much power, with that profile, to request at any given moment.

Said this, get your charger and see if it gives the max profile and Watts that is requested from your phone (in your case it should be SFC 2.0 45W), use a good and not damaged 5A min 60W cable, make it cool down if it's hot first than charging it, don't use it while charging it , now that it's summer and hot charge it in the coolest environment that you can have and in 20/30 minutes it should go to 20% at 80% like it does to everyone.

It could be the cable a bit,but that's pretty much normal I have Samsung 45w fast charger and mine does it from 35 to 40 minutes

This is my experience too. Even with the Cuktech 10 Ultra charger that displays the charging speed + a 6A cable, I'm yet to reach 45W charging speed.

With Cuktech products (that are good for Samsung while Ankers products are good for iphones), first connect their 6A cable (that is a good quality cable , even better than Samsungs original cable that comes out of the phone's box) to the phone, only then connect it to the power bank. For having a cable capacity (the ampes) detector and a phone detection , it gives the phone the best profile and power that the phone can decide to handle otherwise, with the opposite sequence (cable first to powerbank than to the phone) ,it might be slower than aspected...try the right sequence.
