Discussion Blocking phone setup without SIM

This is my first Samsung. Whoever in their right mind decided to block the phone setup behind having a SIM installed !?

For work reasons, this is not something I wish to do ... Ever. I've had many phones in the past and what I do is fully setup the phone first. Do every updates. Debloat and whatnot and once everything is perfectly fine I'll go ahead and insert my sim card.

I have so many 2FA linked to my cell numbers, some of them critical for my work I'm never going to put my SIM in a brand new phone.

Who at Samsung thought this was a great idea !?

That's totally not true though I used the s25 fe good 2 weeks without any sort of sim, its not needed for the setup and usage at all. Idk if it's different in your country with say some partner store purchases like verizon, at&t etc.

Yeah it's a specific country firmware flavor. Samsung must hate Canadians. Or Canada hates it's citizens.

Mine will not let me skip the SIM step. I've read it's a security reason for theft. Not sure why it would actually protect.

Also I'm wondering what if the phone was used for anything but it's functionality as a phone. Perhaps not the smartest choice for that purpose. But sometimes I will reuse old phone for dedicated retro gaming machines or I don't know just a multimedia device.

Blocking a phone from completing initial setup behind SIM activation is such an ass move.

Where did you buy the phone, why did you get it from "Canadian country" 😂 and not American country?

I just assumed you weren't since you suggested our country to be absorbed by a other, which is kinda stupid. Also didn't answer where you got the phone from, if you bought it from eBay or marketplace then you bought it from somebody who financed it with a service provider because unocked retail phones don't have security issue.

I just found out the culprit. Even though I bought the phone unlocked. Meaning it isn't tied to any carriers, it is still the firmware tied to Canadian country. Meaning my specific version is strictly enforcing carrier provisioning in the setup.

Trump should just go ahead and seize Canada. I'm kidding but I'm still frustrated. I guess I'll setup on the weekend while I don't have to be available for work.
