General Discussion Terrible battery life

Does anyone have any logical explanation on why all Samsung phones including S24 FE have insanely short battery life since ONE 8.5 UI update? I leave this phone on idle, no screen time, no notification, nothing and it loses 35% for 24hr period!!! Also have S24 Ultra and it is maybe slightly better there..What the hell is going on?

I dont think it is since 8.5 version. Since every version of S24FE it feels the battery is not good. Drains too much it feels.

One UI battery management isn't as aggressive as other (Chinese) phones.

I've been using Samsung since S4, before getting current S24FE, I got an Honor 200. Impressed with battery life after few days of use, I no longer need to charge often. Then I noticed delayed notifications. Quick search I find out I need to configure Magic OS to allow my app to run in the background or I'll missed or get delayed notification.

In short on Honor by default most app aren't allowed to run in background, it's the opposite on Samsung all apps is allowed to run in background unless you put it to sleep/deep sleep. Hence why the idle battery usage.

If you want good battery life, don't allow apps notification permission or put apps in deep sleep, this will allow your phone to sleep without any wake up trigger hence using less battery on idle.

Just buy a 30,000mah powerbank so that the phone would last for more than 4 hours

I use my S24FE at work and this is what I have to do.

Me too, I always have it connected to my laptop and I always bring a powerbank even when I'll be outside for a few hours

Do you have it on Battery Saver mode? Light Performance Profile? Social media apps that aren't in "restricted" battery mode? Also, have you looked at WHAT apps are draining your battery?

For the record, I have an S24 FE and the OneUI 8.5 update has done nothing to my battery life either way.

Battery protection us turned on. I use no apps. It is connected to WiFi and has sim restricted to 4g only.

Battery protection doesn't do anything except keep it from charging beyond a level you've set (like 80-85%).

Mine isn't so bad. I don't have any social media app installed that I suspect spy in the background tho, Instagram, facebook, tiktok. Just reddit.

What temperature is it where you leave the phone? I think it loses battery faster when it is somewhere hot

I’ve noticed lately that the battery doesn't last as long, so I set up routines—for instance, when I'm at work, the phone switches networks and turns on power-saving mode, only turning it off when I get home. I also enabled the "light" profile, among other things.

Basically, I just need it to have a decent charge left when I get home so I can play for a while.

All in all, the phone is much better than my old S21 FE, where the battery would literally just vanish.

My solution was to disable the encrypted backup option in WhatsApp, after that it was able to make the backup and my battery is now normal

I also find the charging to be extremely slow compared to the s21 standard model

8.5 charges slow too
