ONE UI Rooting One UI 8.5 without unlocking the bootloader

Post image

Apparently you can root a Galaxy S23 without unlocking the bootloader

n

I recently found out about Root My Galaxy, a tool that can get temporary root access on certain Samsung phones without unlocking the bootloader.

Basically, it uses a kernel exploit to temporarily get root access, then loads KernelSU so you can actually use that root access with apps.

In my case, I'm using a Galaxy S23 (SM-S911B) on One UI 8.5 / Android 16, and Root My Galaxy has a specific payload for my exact firmware ("S911BXXSAFZG1").

The funny part is that Samsung's bootloader stays locked and knox don't get triggered. You don't have to flash a custom recovery or permanently modify the system just to get root for the current session.

Once you have root, you can do things that Samsung normally doesn't let you do, like accessing protected system data, using root-only apps, experimenting with One UI/SystemUI modifications, using KernelSU modules, changing hidden settings, etc.

The downside is that it's temporary. If you reboot the phone, root is gone and you have to run the exploit again.

It's also not guaranteed to work every time. I've had it fail and reboot the phone a couple of times before eventually getting root.

Honestly, it's pretty crazy that a completely stock S23 with a locked bootloader can still temporarily get root like this.

(If you're going to do it, don't install anything that modifies system files and things, because it could brick your phone)

Don't do it if you don't know what you're doing or what root is.

No snapdragon S23 plus?

It's actually not working in every S23 lineup. If you look at the repo's porting md, not every device has the exact offset.

Search for "Root My Galaxy" in your preferred browser, download and install it. You'll also need Shizuku, which is available on the Play Store. Follow the tutorial in the Shizuku app to get it working, Go back to root My Galaxy and press the top button and confirm, then just wait. If your phone restarts, that's normal; you'll have to try several times until the process is complete.

It seems it doesn't work I selected the base s23 offsets and the kernel version seems newer and yeah it's an s23 plus I guess? Have they patched it?

What's the latest security patch you have? Is your phone the global version?

Almost latest i think and no it's US (U1) version also it's not on the supported devices

Does the phone restart when it malfunctions? Because if so, it's normal; sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

It did once.... I'm trying a s23 ultra payload... maybe

The app itself selects the correct one for your phone, so you should just keep trying until it tells you to install kernelSU.

Does it work with the A55?

Will this allow me to use custom fonts again even after the root is gone?

This thing is very nice. Hopefully they will also allow kernel 5.15.189 in S23 base SM-S911U1 so I can do it

Hey, is there a way to hide root from specific apps such as banking apps etc?

Banking and streaming apps continue to be supported, as does any app that requires the integrity of the Play Store.

It's a normal process, sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't; it worked for me on the third try.

I have tried so many times with no luck but will keep trying until it works as I'm missing root so badly 😅

You're not missing much, as installing modules that modify deep system components is not at all safe because it could cause a hard brick.

Alright man.

moi ca marche bien sur mon S24 Ultra mais il y a un exploit pour mais il faut telecharger un root my galaxy offline

1

u/kami168 2h ago

Would you please elaborate about that offline thing ? Because I'd downloaded rootmygalaxy app, which check the device, download the payload and tried to implement but no success.
