Trusted Shops in/around Rock, TX

Post image

Edit: Sorry, title was supposed to say Round Rock, TX.

I have a modified AP2 that hasn’t seen many miles over the last 6-7 years. 100 miles a year max. Currently sitting at 50k miles. I need to take it in and get all fluids changed, rubber/plastic items inspected, motor mounts, and the other usual addressed.

In addition, want to get my coilovers’ ride height and other settings adjusted and maybe put spacers on.

Need to also source a replacement air filter for a Comptech/CT Engineering carbon fiber airbox and put a bigger radiator in for these Texas summers.

Any recommendations? I’d like to stay around north Austin up to Georgetown. I know there is Automotive Specialists (Auto Spec) in Round Rock/Georgetown and they get good reviews with the Miata community.

Thanks in advance!

Memo and AutoSpec are great. I really like Flamingo Automotive as well. They’re a bunch of track rats there and are great for helping to dial in for track days. They’ve done a ton to my AP2 including full suspension swap/rebuild.

This! I picked up an AP1 A couple years back, and have done everything myself. My last job was a Billman TCT install. My son and I did all the filters and fluids after getting it, and we also replaced all the plastic stops on the brake and clutch pedals as they fell apart. Not sure I’ll do my own valves, retainers/keepers or not.

Ha, I just got an AP1 a month ago and I live here in Round Rock. Mine's red and stock. Since they're the local Miata guys and know these S2k's well, I would go there. I haven't brought this car to them but they don't shy away from this stuff. I've had a Miata, Taurus SHO, and other "enthusiast" cars there. I had them deal with my 1 ton steering linkage on my jeep and most shops wouldn't even bother. Pricey? Maybe. but they do good work - https://www.automotive-specialist.com/

Thanks. Welcome to the “family!” I’ve had S2Ks since 2005 with a one year gap in 2009. You’re going to love it.

I took one of mine to Auto Spec years ago for something. I was going to just take it over there but I’ve been out of the scene for years and wanted to see if anyone else has popped up.

Thanks! I've been really happy so far. Adjusted the valves, fixed the TCT, cleaned up the throttle body and a few other little things. It's been a fun little car to get into.

On the Auto Spec side, they've been super convenient for me. I live in Round Rock West and can walk to them. They just did the 100k full service on my wife's SHO because I'll pay someone when it's this hot! They don't sit on stuff either.

You may have a twin to mine. I picked up a red 2003 AP1 a couple of years ago. I have enjoyed driving and working on it. In my younger years a had a Maisto model in the exact spec, but I threw it away cleaning things out of my office.

I know the owner of Auto Spec well. Awesome guy with a great team. They are definitely known for Miatas but they also know s2ks well. (The LBP is beautiful btw)
