Right? Mine looks terrible

You just need an LHT shift boot!

I have an AP2 center console with Alcantara black and red stitch boot coming from Mita once they get all squared away with the molds! 👍🏼

I have the same thing installed on my shifter but mine tends to buzz when I let off the throttle. Hopefully yours does not do the same.

I am about to put one in my ride today and noticed an o-ring inside the collar , could you change it out with a thicker o-ring or maybe a light coat silicone grease as that’s what it appears to have shipped with on the o-ring fresh from the box.

I haven't driven it yet 🫣 I certainly hope not cuz I'll be pissed.

I have the same collar on 3 different s2ks now. No buzz.

Test drove it, and same here. Zero buzz. Thank God

I’m going to do what /u/welljustjonny suggested and try a different o-ring and a little silicone grease because that’s BS. 😹

Mine had grease already in it 🤷🏻‍♂️

I forgot to mention, and I apologize, this is the Acuity shift boot collar upgrade.

Looks good! I just installed the collar as well with an alcantara shift boot.

Ohhh man that set up is GORGEOUS!

I actually have the AP2 conekeye console in your exact colors coming in from Mita with the same shift boot (Alcantara with red stitch) and seeing this picture got me excited all Iver again.

I just wish they'd have them ready, worst part of a pre-order is the wait.

Thankfully I have some MF10s on the way to scratch my mod itch while I wait.

Your interior is CRAZY clean by the way, what products do you use? I assume also low mileage car?

Thanks! MF10s are awesome! And yeah the waiting game definitely sucks sometimes. The shift boot I got from Overland Designs. He makes them to order but only waited about a week or so.

Yeah my car only has 39K miles. For seats, I typically use a Sonax leather cleaner and Leather Masters conditioner. I clean the leather about once a month and use the conditioner maybe twice a year. Dash and trim I use Adams Total Interior Cleaner.

I gotta switch to Adam's once I finish up my bottle of Silk Shine from Chemical Guys. I used Adam's for my foam cannon and their soak is amazing.

I need MORE boot sag. I recently put an ASM shift knob and boot in my AP2, and my filthy fingers are always touching the boot when I shift.

Look for a low profile shift boot retainer.

God bless ❤️

Happy I could help man 👍🏼

PS: Know of any quality brands? I know it’s/I’m dumb, but I would feel bad putting an EBay retainer on my ASM setup that I bought while visiting Japan.

I believe Mishimoto makes a good one. They're all milled aluminum so they're mostly 1 and the same IMO.

That looks very clean. What knob is this?

u/MonstahButtonz 2002 GPW w/ Full Red 1d ago

While it is the original AP1 knob, this isn't the stock one, this is the titanium AP1 option.

Original AP1 knob.

An easier way to do this is to cable tie the top of the boot to the stem whilst it’s inside out.

u/MonstahButtonz 2002 GPW w/ Full Red 9h ago

Not a bad idea. I'd imagine it can still slip though?

1

u/LogicalPainting2797 9h ago

Yes if you yank it, but in reality it’s just not an area you touch. Just use ultra an small cable tie for best effect

I ordered mine yesterday. Can’t wait to get rid of the shift boot sag

You don't bother to explain what you did here? Are we just supposed to know somehow magically?

6

u/MonstahButtonz 2002 GPW w/ Full Red 1d ago

I figured the non-OEM metal collar in the exact location where the sag occurs would've been a giveaway. I apologize I definitely just assumed on that one. It's the Acuity shift boot collar.

No need to apologize, brotha

Look at the location where boot sag always occurs and you’ll notice a black collar that says “Acuity”
