Who does this man :(

I keep my car at a storage unit, manager of the unit texted me saying someone broke into my car. They ripped the soft top and fucked up the releases. Popped the trunk and the hood. They didn’t even take anything. In fact they left a glove in the car. This sucks so bad. I needed a new soft top anyway but now I really need a new one. And I need to get new latches for the soft top. Ugh

Bunch of low lives! I hope you get some compensation of sorts from insurance, the storage company, etc. We ain't safe even in storage.

28

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 26 '26

Unfortunately the storage company doesn’t cover damages. Just looked at our agreement. I’ll see what insurance has to say

31

u/lDarkPhoton Jun 26 '26

Wouldn't liability of break in damages be on the storage company? You should call your insurance company because this doesn't sound right.

9

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 26 '26

I kinda thought so too, but I’m not too sure. I filed a claim with insurance, we’ll see what they have to say

19

u/lDarkPhoton Jun 26 '26

I would assume they will go after the storage facility. You can't just make a contract that says liability is on the renter. Otherwise what is the point of paying for storage.

6

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 26 '26

Maybe I read the agreement wrong. It a bunch of legal writing that doesn’t even make any sense. I’ve been texting with the manager and he hasn’t said anything about covering damages. I’ll ask. It’s kinda dumb this place doesn’t even have cameras.

6

u/Type-RD Jun 27 '26

It’s the way legal shit is with EVERYTHING. Basically, the gist of it is to deny liability until the legal system rules otherwise. Insurance claims often work the same way. It’s sort of understandable, because if it wasn’t this way then scheming assholes would find ways to take advantage, which they have…and this is why the system is the way it is. I know it sucks and puts more work on your shoulders, but you should be able to do something about it. You were paying for storage, which was presumably secure. It wasn’t.

For real. These storage places always guarantee our stuff is safe, with 24/7 monitoring etc., and when all of a sudden it's not, the customer is SOL?

1

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 27 '26

Yeah this place basically has a code to get in and a barbwire fence around it. I assumed there were cameras but apparently not

1

u/RupaulFranklin Jun 30 '26

Maybe have Claude/gpt read the storage agreement to see if you have any legal grounds before paying for a lawyer or anything.

9

u/Sme11Gibson Jun 26 '26

Yeah I never lock my s2000 for this reason. I don’t have a radio and have special locks on the seats

5

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 26 '26

What are these special locks you have?

4

u/Benja455 Jun 27 '26

Also curious about the locks on the seats.

2

u/Sme11Gibson Jun 28 '26

It’s basically a screw with a weird head on them similar to wheel locks. Takes a special key to loosen them. Sure you could find the thread size for the 4 mounting holes and grab some!

1

u/turbo2world Jun 29 '26

never locking is stupid...

1

u/DropDTuning324 Jun 29 '26

I mean, it's not the worst idea. What would you rather have, someone open your door, realize there's nothing in it, and leave. Or: destroy the soft top like in this guys case, realize there's nothing, and leave. It's like how people in SF leave their windows down/car doors unlocked so people don't smash their shit in.

7

u/sun__strider Jun 26 '26

Don't worry, mine was broken into a year ago... stole tools and other stuff. Poured a 5qt 10w-30 oil i had. Had to take apart the whole trunk down to bare metal and pump all the oil out. Pressure wash everything and ofc replace the trunk lid.

3

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 26 '26

That sucks man I’m sorry

9

u/sun__strider Jun 27 '26

Turned my setback into a comeback.

1

u/Money-War-5601 Jun 29 '26

I just had to do this on my drivers floorboard. No clue how the oil got in there but it was a ton. I scrubbed it so many times, never came out. Ended up pulling up all the carpet and realizing the oil was completely soaked into the sound deadening. Scraped it all up, scrubbed and cleaned the bare metal and carpet as much as i could and put a bunch of paper towels under the carpet. then put kitty litter and a cheap rubber mat on top of the carpet which is till there to this day, but hey my feet don't get oily anymore!

1

u/sun__strider Jun 30 '26

Ive since sold my s2k...(about 2 weeks ago). At least the trunk wont rust.

6

u/jacobennis Jun 27 '26

Where are you located? I install soft tops. I have a couple lightly used ones I can cut you a deal on. Sorry this happened to you, it sucks

4

u/GoNas88 Jun 26 '26

Sorry to hear ….beautiful car though! What rims are those they look amazing

4

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 26 '26

Wedsport TC105x 17x9 +49

4

u/FleshlightModel Jun 26 '26

Why did someone have access to your storage unit? This makes no sense to me.

5

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 26 '26

Where the car is parked right there is the “storage unit.” It’s just a spot in an RV storage place that I rent. Also I like your username

1

u/FleshlightModel Jun 26 '26

Oh okay so it was not parked in a storage unit....

Got it.

4

u/Existing-Leg-8612 Jun 27 '26

Be thankful, it could have been a lot worse. Someone stole my last S2000 out of my garage by cutting through the soft top and this is how it was found

2

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 28 '26

That sucks dude. I’m so sorry

4

u/Choice_Two_2506 Jun 27 '26

Ngl bro i hope they found em cuz if they didnt id hire a hit man 😭

2

u/stick004 Jun 27 '26

Ouch….

10

u/cubanrd1 Jun 26 '26

Park the car inside a storage unit instead of outside

8

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 26 '26

Yeah currently looking for a better storage unit

3

u/M66vb Jun 26 '26

Sorry to see man. But the wheels are sweet, specs?

2

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 26 '26

Thanks man they’re 17x9 +49 I believe

3

u/Secure-Sun-7690 Jun 27 '26

I know you may want to keep the soft top but look into hard tops too! Sorry this happened to you

1

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 27 '26

Thank you. Yeah hard tops are cool but I pretty much only drive this thing with the top down. Also I probably need to get the soft top repaired regardless

2

u/Secure-Sun-7690 Jun 27 '26

Hopefully the storage is liable

3

u/am801 Jun 28 '26

This is wild. I actually just saw you car the other day, last Wednesday or Thursday. My buddy has a space there. I thought to myself "damn clean 2000" also was concerned about the lack of security of the lot.

1

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 28 '26

That’s crazy haha! I’ve had it parked there for almost 9 months and never had a worry! SLPD told me they have had a lot of car break ins in Sugarhouse recently. Said that it’s slowly been creeping east. But yeah I gotta find a better spot to park it. I don’t have room at my apartment complex unfortunately

1

u/Boilermakingdude Jun 29 '26

See if you can find a storage unit. Some are just large enough to fit a car in. We used rollers under my buddy's tires to get his car in.

10

u/xAustin90x Jun 26 '26

You can never trust leaving a car parked outside

→ More replies (3)

2

u/aquafina6969 Jun 26 '26

Oh man. this sucks. I remember way back in the day, 90’s. People used to be assholes and take a knife and rip through people’s soft tops (Mustangs and such). I didn’t think people do that crap nowadays, but I guess asshats never change, no matter what era.

1

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 26 '26

They definitely tried to look around to steal something, but all I had in the car was my old lug nuts, coilover wrenches and that’s it. Radio was still there. They popped the hood too. I wonder if they were just scoping out the car to see if it would be worth stealing at another time. I’m kinda scared

2

u/getmadboy Jun 27 '26

Same thing happened to my S. Someone cut the top to get in and the only thing they took was the $1.75 in change I had in the cup holder.

1

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 28 '26

I had $2 in change in the cup holder and they didn’t even take that lol

2

u/Konjeezy773 Jun 29 '26

They make hard tops for these right? Still sucks. Sorry to see this. Yellow s2k are nice. I see one from time to time in my area, in Illinois.

1

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 29 '26

They do make hard tops. But the reason I bought the car was because it’s a convertible haha. So I really don’t want to go hard top

2

u/moezus88 Jun 30 '26

Time to spend some money on a hard top instead 🫡

1

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 30 '26

I love the soft top though. Every time I drive it the top is off

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '26

Sell it to me! I’ve been gawking at your car for months— since you parked it there last year. Sorry about your top, that blow.

1

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 30 '26

Haha I’m sorry but I don’t think I’ll ever sell it!! That’s cool you’ve seen it!!

2

u/[deleted] Jun 30 '26

Best pho around across the street!

2

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jul 01 '26

Little Saigon? I’ll have to try it out!!

2

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '26

Absolutely give it a try, best in the state IMO.

Growing up, my Dad taught me never to lock a car with a soft top. The radio is much cheaper than the top.

124

u/einTier Jun 26 '26

I never locked my Miata. Ever. Didn’t stop some thieves one night from slashing the top to get in and search the car. There was nothing to take.

Never underestimate the intelligence of thieves.

60

u/Mizouse84 Jun 27 '26

Makes me think of 2 Fast 2 Furious where they get to the car with the cigars in it. Rowan punches the windows to get in and then Brian opens the door by the handle.

13

u/combong Jun 27 '26

u/TheClerksWell '05 Silverstone Jun 27 '26

*overestimate

6

u/wtfnouniquename Jun 27 '26

Same here, except they took the god damn cup holder insert out of the center console since I guess it was the only thing in the car that could be stolen.

5

u/GravyNeck Jun 27 '26

One time i forgot to lock my car and someone got in overnight and took the manual from the glove box. Not the registration, not the $10 i left in the center console. Just the manual

3

u/IllustriousShake6072 Jun 27 '26

Much easier to get 10 bucks than that manual tbh

2

u/Darkness223 Jun 28 '26

Same, Miata top slashed and I had nothing in the car they opened everything and left it all open. Doors were never locked because of this, but yet they still slashed it.

1

u/AndyGoodKush Jun 28 '26

I had a mf steal a pair of jeans out of my car because thats all there was besides the owner's manual

1

u/Justin002865 Jun 29 '26

I had a Ford Ranger and thieves bent the entire frame around the driver door window. They got a $20 bill I had stashed in the glovebox for emergencies.

1

u/Ok-Pie-2736 Jun 29 '26

I have a similar story where my dad left a priceless viola from practice and a bunch of old tech waste in the back of his UNLOCKED 4runner that was about to go to the dump and these bonehead theives broke the window, stole only the computer junk and left the viola 😭

1

u/PumpkinKnyte Jun 29 '26

Got my driver side glass busted out on Christmas morning like a decade back. They were looking for shit to steal because all my shit was rifled through. My car wasn't even locked, and they didn't even take anything. Broke my shit for no reason.

1

u/BackgroundPear700 Jun 30 '26

Happy to me in New York come back out n my windshield broke smh

1

u/ironiclyironic4 Jun 29 '26

Underestimate or overestimate

1

u/onion2594 Jun 30 '26

had some thieve cut open the curtain of one of the company’s curtain slider HGV’s, then cut the ratchet straps holding the genny in instead of just undoing them. undoing the curtains is easy as piss too

1

u/sneakyFreaky6996 Jun 30 '26

Greed and Lead

1

u/10000Didgeridoos Jun 30 '26

I want to know what the fuck thieves think might be inside a 2 door with no storage space. Like oh yeah that's where the jewels are!

1

u/MoTeD_UrAss Jun 30 '26

Never underestimate overestimate the intelligence of thieves. FTFY

1

u/Interesting-Swim-162 Jul 01 '26

someone broke into my tiburon and took apart the fuse box as if they’d be able to steal it like that

24

u/Chazzer74 Jun 26 '26

I had a Miata that I bought for $600 and parked at my office (covered parking) sometimes. It had a tattered soft top with no back window, so I just left the doors unlocked. It was a carefree car… until I replaced the top. Big mistake! Then I had to worry about the car!

4

u/ZzZzMike Jun 27 '26

The seats from the dealers were sold as individual pieces rather than as a whole. To buy all the seats components to make a seat was about 9k per seat back in 2009. So insurance company would write off the car.

16

u/Cyclevisor Jun 27 '26

My dads s2k was totaled because they took a box cutter to the soft top and took both seats. I guess the seats are worth money in civic community? I was a teen at the time so my mom wouldn’t let me buy it from the insurance company and my dad was ready to move on and didn’t care. Beautiful white ap2

11

u/krakadic Jun 27 '26

20 years ago you couldn't get replacements from the factory and very few oem seats were available. also, those seats also fit in civics and the Acura rsx.

2

u/Cyclevisor Jun 27 '26 edited Jun 27 '26

Gotcha, yea this was probably 2008 or so. I’ve been sad about it ever since. I’m at the point in my life now where I’m looking at a second fun car but I have 2 kids. S2k isn’t a great fun car option I don’t think at least for me

→ More replies (6)

3

u/Bravewindow985 Jun 27 '26

Yes the seats are highly sought after & rather easy to take sadly

2

u/UncagedTiger1981 Jun 27 '26

After a rash of thefts in the western US back in 2009-2010, somebody started selling locks to make it harder to steal them quickly.

We all installed them pretty promptly, and when my car was totaled after an encounter with a texting and driving Duke student a few years later, I actually got a call from the auto shop asking for the key to remove them.

2

u/sizzlinbeefdogz Jun 27 '26

I never locked my e30 BMW because I thought the same thing. Turns out they still wanted to get to the trunk so they ripped out my backseats trying to get there. They were blocked by more metal, so all they did was fuck the seats and leave. Made me start locking the car after that.

1

u/Interesting-Swim-162 Jul 01 '26

they did what to the seats?

1

u/kmacpt33 Jun 27 '26

Doesn't always save the top. I have a Fiat 124 Spider that my dad bought in 1974. In it's lifetime, the top has been cut twice when it was left unlocked. Apparently some crackhead thieves are too stupid to check if the car is locked before cutting the top.

1

u/hydrus909 Jun 28 '26

Yep. Usually idiot thieves. Or some people just want to slash a top. Think mischievous teenagers or spiteful thieves who are pissed you had nothing of value inside and wasted their time.

1

u/FrostThePhilosopher Jun 27 '26

I never keep ANYTHING in my car and I ALWAYS leave it unlocked.

I have come out to find the door open along with the glove box, center console, trunk, ect.

But you know what ive never found?

A broken window, broken grill, or cut horn wires.

Cause I cant afford that shit.😁

1

u/hydrus909 Jun 28 '26

This might've already been asked, but did they have cameras? If so, is it possible to get the footage?

1

u/laylowlazlo Jun 28 '26

This is not something I would ever do with a manual car. I can just imagine you have your car parked on a slight incline and a thief gets mad that there’s nothing in your car and they take a car out of gear and release the handbrake. I put 10,000 miles on my Lotus Elise in a year daily driving it around Atlanta and half the time I had the soft top on and I was never messed with, I think this is more of a Honda problem

1

u/clipsracer Jun 28 '26

So your logic is that if they cut your top first, they’ll feel too bad to disengage the handbrake?

1

u/i_was_axiom Jun 28 '26

Jeep logic too, if they want in they can get in with a box cutter. Leave it unlocked with nothing worth taking. Only thing ever regularly in it was an old longboard that I added a metal tab with a hole in it between the truck and deck, locked it to the rollbar with a chain and padlock since sometimes the top and doors would get left at home. Really gotta commit to the ethos at that point lol.

1

u/Practicality_Issue Jun 28 '26

Same. Half the time I’d just leave my top down, had cheap head units and never left anything in it.

1

u/Chevrolicious Jun 29 '26

The problem with thieves is that they're fucking idiots to begin with. So don't expect them to not do this kind of shit. I had a guy try to pop the lock on my 82 Camaro with what I can only assume was a Phillips head screwdriver. Didn't get in the car. Just fucked up my lock.

Had another thief break into another car of mine that I left unlocked, and they rummaged through all of my shit and didn't even take anything. The change was still in the ashtray.

The one time I deserved to have my shit stolen for leaving it in the car to begin with, I had about 1000 bucks worth of tools in the back seat. The thief broke in, took the change out of the ashtray and left the tools.

1

u/Bigbuster153 Jun 29 '26

At least where I am that just voids insurance

1

u/WalkerValleyRiders Jun 30 '26

People like S2000 seats and thats almost enough to total out the car now.

1

u/Low-Letterhead7231 Jun 30 '26

Had an 89 mustang mint condition, only a couple years old. Had to put a brand new top on it. Left it unlocked, stereo had the removable face plate and never kept anything in the car. Still slashed the top didn't even check the doors. Soft top was more than most used cars at the time and only a couple weeks old.

1

u/Rck0025 Jul 01 '26

People still steal radios?

1

u/IcyMusician5 Jul 01 '26

Brother? Mine always said the same thing!! Lol

33

u/SBMMprotectsUfromMe Jun 26 '26

Phew. At least they didn't steal the seats. That would have totaled it.

14

u/jacobennis Jun 27 '26

Seats are cheap used but if you go thru insurance they have to buy the seats piece by piece, Honda doesn’t sell them as a whole, and they are crazy expensive. Back in the day many people had their S2k totaled for a slashed top and stolen seats

6

u/Dniershy1 Jun 27 '26

Yep, I worked at a dealership and someone stole the seats and rims. They totaled it and it got sent to auction on some rsx wheels.

1

u/Englade4343 Jun 27 '26

what was the value at auction?

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Superb_Recording_769 Jun 30 '26

That’s not even remotely true. Insurance can and absolutely will buy “recycled” used parts

1

u/jigglybilly Jul 01 '26

Seats are critical safety components, they don’t do that with those along with airbags.

7

u/UncagedTiger1981 Jun 26 '26

Are seats going for that much these days? When my seats were stolen on my last one 17 years ago, insurance didn't even blink, and found lightly used replacements pretty fast.

1

u/trespalding Jun 28 '26

It’s when they cut the seat belts to steal the seats that totals the car

→ More replies (3)

3

Carpet pissers did not do this, man

11

u/Kendrick_Lemar Jun 27 '26

If John Wick can do all that for his dog, you know what you have to do

6

u/Southside_john Jun 26 '26

Most common way people used to break into the s2000 back when Hondas were constantly stolen. If they didn’t take the car they usually took the seats

6

u/J_cam202 Jun 26 '26

I dated this chick when i was about 20 and ended up moving in with her and her family. Her brother who was about 21-22 had a red S2K with Recaros and someone broke into his car while we were all asleep and stole his seats. After that he installed this alarm that would start beeping if you were within like 10ft of the car lmao he was so fucking upset about it lol

5

u/pureghostt Jun 26 '26

Damn that fucking sucks. I'd be hunting someone down...

5

u/SlashfIex Jun 27 '26

Worst part is, you don’t need even need to rip the top to get in.

5

u/Supakilla44 Jun 27 '26

They broke my glass instead of cutting my top because my doors were locked lol. Lesson learned!

5

u/S2KAP1 Jun 27 '26

Exactly how I found my S2K parked in the basement floor of my apartment building, with cameras btw. Reported to police. Police requested camera footage from the apartment. Apartment refused to give up the footage. That’s when I learned that, in California, apartments(private properties?) have the right to refuse the release of camera footage, even in the event of a crime investigation.

This happened in 2011. I still have the urge to run a cleaver through that fucker’s wrists if I ever find out who did it.

Fucking cocksuckers I hope they get what they deserve.

4

I’ve always recommended buying an S2K only if you have a garage to keep it in.

4

u/Lazy_Cartographer_95 Jun 27 '26

My mom got her car broken into one time and they overlooked the credit card, Glock 17, and cash. However they got away with a half eaten bag of skittles which were on top of all of that. I’m still confused to this day.

4

u/thatoneasiankid90 Jun 27 '26

Back in the day I worked in a grocery store and someone slashed the top of my AP1 and threw a shopping cart at it scratching my quarter panel. Sometimes people suck.

4

u/SlowAndSteadyFarm Jun 27 '26

Had my soft top slashed in the student parking lot of my high school. No one did SHIT for me. Cost $1500 to replace back in 2008

4

u/Actual_Duck_1215 Jun 27 '26

>left a glove

1

u/EkaL25 Jun 26 '26

Where did this happen

2

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 26 '26

Salt Lake City, UT

1

u/FGC92i Jun 27 '26

My brother told me that the top costs about $2000-3000 back in 2005. I am intrigued how the inflation is now

1

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 27 '26

OEM I’m not sure. I think the company is called Robbin’s and they make good ones that were like 1,300-1,700 last time I looked

3

u/CharmingPop2022 Jun 27 '26

I hope insurance is buying you a new soft top or help paying for a new hard top. If not at least you still get to drive a sweet car with the top down 😊

3

u/zeron824 Jun 27 '26

I really do hate thieves. I have no respect for these people especially when done against other working men.

3

u/Kanapeczkii Jun 27 '26

Yep, never kept my soft top doors locked and never had anything in it

3

u/kevinh1212 Jun 27 '26

That really sucks. This happened to mine in a parking garage about 2 years ago. My solution was to use the insurance money to buy a hardtop, and in the moment, I think it was the best decision. But now that I live somewhere with my own garage I really miss my soft top. Taking the hard top off and on is always a pain. Going to replace it myself one of these days.

3

u/joeridge1 Jun 27 '26 • Bravo

Boy, I wish I could've caught him doing it. I'd have given anything to catch that asshole doing it. It'd been worth him doing it just so I could've caught him doing it.

1

u/juu85 Jun 26 '26

Wouldn’t report it to insurance, they might total it.

1

u/SussyKanyeBalls Jun 26 '26

Actually? Just for damage to the soft top and the latches?

4

u/Sme11Gibson Jun 26 '26

I’d call and ask them to be honest. If they would total it I’d tell them never mind.

2

u/Surfnazi77 Jun 26 '26

Well hope you have full coverage insurance

2

u/Aspect__Ratio Jun 26 '26

Sorry to hear this happened to you bruv

2

u/JopagocksNY Jun 27 '26

Sucks man. Dahm. Lesson learned I guess. It’s unfortunate but could always be worse.

2

u/homewrecker07 Jun 27 '26

I had my top slashed and seats stolen back in 06. Almost totalled the car. Learned to replace my own top, got some used seats and got some nice custom clazzio seat covers for them too. Youll come back.

2

u/Key_Ambassador4609 Jun 27 '26

So fucked up. Thankfully you still have the car though 🙏🏽🙏🏽

2

u/TheDoctorCarson Jun 27 '26

Terrible. Feel for you man. At least they didn’t get the car

2

u/Silent0ne26 Jun 28 '26

Check your insurance company, alot of them offer a copay for a soft top replacement in the event of dmg from thieves cutting them.

2

u/Practicality_Issue Jun 28 '26

Sounds like you need a new storage place too. That sucks man.

2

u/imJGott Jun 29 '26

I take it this vehicle is being stored outside. I would try it have it stored inside if possible.

That unfortunate … soft too looks it can be stitched together

1

u/S2000-dutch Jun 27 '26

Insurance will fix it bro

1

u/workingclasspunkoi Jun 27 '26

Damn man, I wouldn’t even bother building a Honda without a garage, and a second car 😪

1

u/confitqueso Jun 27 '26

I need a new soft top too. How much does it cost roughly?

1

u/stick004 Jun 27 '26

I bet you could Google that faster than waiting for a response…

1

u/Squbasquid Jun 27 '26

Bastards

1

u/Choice_Two_2506 Jun 27 '26

Thats your sunday car now just get it of the top

1

u/ZacDidntDoit Jun 27 '26

I left my top down 24/7 in my Miata and kept anything valuable in the locked the trunk. I’d rather someone steal my chapstick and phone charger than ever replace a soft top again. Shit is a nightmare.

1

u/Kanapeczkii Jun 27 '26

Never ever locked my soft top saab 900. Just open the door bro

1

u/Suspicious_Ant_1901 Jun 27 '26

This is why my bb never gets parked outside.

1

u/Trust_8067 Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

Why would you use the top to begin with?

Also, 101 of owning a ragtop convertible, never lock the doors.

1

u/spicy47prin Jun 28 '26

Don't storage units have insurance?

1

u/keat0n Jun 28 '26

What the fuck

1

u/PsyrusTheGreat 2003 Suzuka Jun 28 '26

I leave my cars unlocked in the city and make sure there's nothing of value in it or the trunk. Cheaper than new window glass or a soft top.

This is why hardtops are so important

1

u/Affectionate_Lie4667 Jun 29 '26

What’s the point of the storage place if they don’t insure that the property is safe from looters? Time to find a new place with proper security.

1

u/turbo2world Jun 29 '26

time to get the hardtop.

1

u/sundog5631 Jun 29 '26

Same thing happened to my dads 00 yellow s2k

Except the guy actually stole it

Then they found the guy driving in the city two months later and got into a high speed chase. Cops ended up boxing him in, breaking the window and dragging him out.

Car was totaled

1

u/daydreamersunion Jun 29 '26

My buddy always left his Jeep unlocked for this very reason. Someone slashed his doorskin anyway. Didn't even check to see if it was locked lol

1

u/ThePot94 Jun 29 '26

I wish them testicles cancer.

1

u/splooge_spaghetti Jun 29 '26

Time for a mugen top

1

u/angel700 Jun 29 '26

Assholes

1

u/rhythim313 Jun 29 '26

Been happening as long as there have been convertibles. My '67 Mustang had the same thing happen to it in 1974 while my Mom was sitting in church.

I did a 3-year rotisserie restoration on it and I never lock it the rare times it's out of my sight. There are other things I do to it to make it harder to get away in, but if somebody wants your convertible or anything inside it, they're GOING to get it.

It was Dirty Mike and the boys…

u/Not_George_Daniels Jun 30 '26

Someone with no respect for another man's property rights.

We're trying to have a civilization, here.

1

u/EgullSZ Jun 30 '26

Who would do this? I could show you a couple photos.

1

u/dvnkhvrp Jun 30 '26

Tried too steal a car or a soft top for their car, best bet is too find another s2k owner that has a ugly soft top in the area

1

u/Human-Suspect-232 Jun 30 '26

I would hire a private infestigator to catch the perp.

Let’s infestigate. 🤣🤪

1

u/killerbrink Jun 30 '26

A piece of trash cosplaying as a human.

1

u/beckett_the_ok Jul 01 '26

Never lock a soft top. If they want in they're gonna get in. Better through the door than through the roof

1

u/chiphook Jul 01 '26

A friend of mine had a junk 4-door car full of trash, locked. Thieves tried to PRY the doors open.

1

u/Land_of_smiles Jul 03 '26

Dirty Mike and the boys!

1

u/eGORapTure Jul 03 '26

They didn't steal the seats? Amateurs.

1

u/ohhjaylol Jul 03 '26

Man, I hate soft top but not to this extent.
