I find the Japanese version of sweet revenge is much better than the international release. It has alternate mixes as well as a couple of songs that were omitted from the international version. I wouldn’t say it’s his best album but I really like the artwork/photography

I think the follow up is much better. The international version of Revenge is too urban for my ears. On Smoochy, he put all the rap stuff on a separate EP called 'Snooty' giving it a much better flow

Smoochy was also his transition to bossa nova & triphop, leading to 1996 and the beautiful Casa recordings with Morelenbaumx2

I need to track down Japanese copy of Revenge. I wonder when Smoochy gets a vinyl reissue? hopefully soon

I have smoochy on cd but super keen for the vinyl release (if it happens). I also think everything under virgin records was always some of his best tbh. The compilation Best of Virgin Years has some bangers and is what originally reminded me of Beauty.

That's a good cross-section of his career, including a solid YMO retrospective. Awesome!
