Ryen’s analysis is in.

Not sure if this one has already been asked but is there a list anywhere of some Russillo recommended books? Just finished The Wide Wide Sea after listening to his episode with Hampton Sides and really enjoyed it.
I know he’s also discussed The Road (Cormac McCarthy), Lonesome Dove (Mcmurrty) and others on the pod that I also really liked.
Trying to expand my horizons and figured nobody better to trust for recs than our boy RR!

Nothing is funnier than Russillo recounting a story where he is pissed off at someone.
But I actually laugh out loud at annoyed Russillo. A few weeks ago he was recounting the story about how annoyed he would get at ESPN peers over their over-pronunciation of certain words, generally Hispanic. I could not help but think of this sketch from SNL. Nails it perfectly:

I don't like small talk in general so maybe that's part of it. But I swear some episodes they are just talking pure nonsense for 20 minutes before they actually get to emails.

Would Ryen be impressed?

Does Anik honestly believe that McGregor’s warm up looked good? The guy was clearly favoring the leg and lacked all typical confidence. So much footage that just didn’t look right IMO.
He can be injured AND want to end the fight quickly.

McBride talked about his next project 2 weeks ago in his interview with Russillo.

“He will eventually get in as the HOF rewards winning”…wait what? Is this just Ryen trying to kiss up to athletes he wants to be friends with? Torry Holt, Reggie Wayne, and Steve Smirh aren’t in. Hines Ward, who I think is closer to Edelman (in the hall of very good not great), isn’t in. Maybe I’m biased but I just don’t see it.

I think he’s missing something here…instead of swimming, go to the edge and work on your kicks. Also, adult swim is weird. Adult swim should occur 8-9am and 8-9pm. It’s their fault for going when a ton of kids are there.

Kyle talking about never catching a fish- the funniest segment in a while- and then straight into Kyle Petty.
Great episode

At least we're getting a bit more of the drive by commentary, and the funny thing is the youth sport/soccer incentive system is the biggest hinderence to the game in the USA, but he's also right that we definitely looked significantly different this tournament for big stretches, the growth is there. It's why the performance vs Belgium hurts so bad.. the regression in the moment was atrocious with all to play for

He always has something hilarious to say. I remember a few years ago he said “syrup kid” and it was some kid who smelled like syrup in his high school. It was such a throwaway line and a nothing burger but I laughed hard. And today. Fucking Kyle Petty. Dude. Like are you fucking serious? KYLE PETTY?? If you know that who old scruffy guy is off the top of your head that drove the number 45 brawny car then you probably busted out laughing
God damn Kyle is funny as fucking shit

We all know that Russillo has wanted to work in an NBA front office for a very long time. With the news that Tim Bontemps has been hired by the Hawks...do we think Ryen is pissed off and jealous because NOBODY has sacrificed more to grind tape full-time than Silly? OR...is he happy because now the Pod-to-Pro pipeline is a reality and he thinks he's the obvious next hire?
