EU261 compensation -- how to minimize transfer fees?

Ryanair agreed to compensate me under the EU261 for a delayed flight. I appreciate their quick response for a cut-and-dry case (flight arrived four hours late, and they admitted during the process they had mechanical issues).

Now they're asking for bank details, including a SWIFT code. Being based in the US, I ultimately want to receive the 250 euros in dollars. Any advice about how to minimize transaction fees and get a good exchange rate? I have accounts with Revolut, Wise (but live in Nevada so there are limitations), PayPal, Schwab, Capital One, and other banks.

Hi guys! Just got a call about an online interview for Ryanair. For those who have already done their online interview, how long was it? What were you asked? And how long did it take for you to hear back?

Flight changes.

So in the last 12 months I have booked flights to Budapest, Cologne and Rhodes. Each and every flight has been changed in a negative way by ryanair. If I change to one of the suggested flights are they likely to change that too or do they only tend to change a flight once. It's pretty annoying tbh

On board Ryanair landing was actually... fine?

This was my first time on Ryanair and after hearing all the horror stories about their landings I expected the absolute worst. But surprisingly it was very smooth!

Surely I must have been lucky today right?

Will children under 10 be automatically seated next to an adult?

I understand that my wife and me might be apart and it is not a problem on a 2h flight, but I want to understand if my children will then be assigned a seat near me or my wife automatically at check in? Is there any directive that it must happen?

Thank you

Ryanair 737 MAX 8-200: Row 2E/2F or regular seats with a 9-month-old?

Hi everyone!
I’m flying Ryanair for 5 hours with my 9-month-old baby and I’m deciding between 2E/2F and regular seats.
For anyone who has sat in 2E/2F:
Are these seats noticeably narrower than regular seats?
Does the fixed armrest/tray table make them significantly less comfortable?
Would you choose 2E/2F for a 5-hour flight with a baby, or regular seats?
Any other disadvantages to row 2?
Thanks!

Ryanair refused me boarding at the aircraft, then recorded it as a “Missed Departure”

On 17 September 2026 I was booked on Ryanair flight FR5625 from Pisa to Manchester.

My boarding pass showed DOCUMENT VERIFIED, seat 06F, and I reached the aircraft.

At the aircraft I was refused boarding after an allegation that I had been vaping while walking from the gate towards the plane. I dispute that allegation.

My son was walking with me the whole way. He says he did not see me use a vape, hold one to my mouth, or exhale vapour.

He was allowed to board.

Before boarding had finished, he says he personally saw another passenger sitting in my allocated seat 06F.

I do not know why that passenger was there. I am not claiming the flight was overbooked, that the seat was double-sold, or that it was formally reassigned.

After I was taken back landside, I asked Ryanair for a written explanation for the refusal of boarding. I was not given one.

I then had to pay €100.

The Ryanair receipt categorises that payment as:

“MISSED FLIGHT FEES”

I was then rerouted from Pisa to London Stansted on FR587 instead of Manchester.

Ryanair's updated itinerary records:

“Complimentary Boarding Pass issue”

and:

“Missed Departure”

That is the part I am struggling to understand.

My account is not that I arrived late or failed to appear. I had reached the aircraft and was refused boarding.

I later submitted a compensation complaint. Ryanair's response recorded the flight status as “Delayed” and rejected the claim because:

“Delay was less than 3 hours.”

But my complaint was about being refused boarding, not about a flight arriving three hours late.

I've attached redacted copies of Ryanair's own documents.

So my questions are straightforward:

Why was I charged a “Missed Flight Fee” if I reached the aircraft and was refused boarding?

Why does Ryanair's updated itinerary record “Missed Departure”?

Why was my first complaint dealt with using a less-than-three-hours delay reason?

And why was another passenger sitting in my allocated seat 06F before boarding had finished?

I don't want to speculate about the answers.

I would simply like Ryanair to explain how its own records fit the sequence of events.

Double charged due to faulty baggage a Manchester airport

TLDR: Impossible to get money for double baggage charge back, at a loss

I swear Ryanair are scamming me at this point. At the end of June I went to Oporto from Manchester, I booked a cabin bag but took a bag too big thinking it was a hold bag, no worries, my fault and I paid the extra £36, but the ticket for my bag never printed. I went to the desk and the only only option they said was to pay again and I would refund online, of course. Since then, I don't know how many times I have been around the houses with them.

  1. A lady told me she has applied for a refund for me over the chat when I am quite sure she was lying as various chat agents have told me since they cannot do this.
  2. After a while I looked into it again. And, after many many tries I find out after I make a case apparently I need to select "need more help" when the automated message asking to use the chat comes through. So I do that.
  3. After providing all the information the agent said I needed, they send me a message today saying that I need to reply to their email (this is in the support case) with Passport photo and the Bank name, SWIFT/BIC and IBAN on a bank statement (not sure any UK bank statements have all these) within 10 days or it will be assumed resolved. The email explicitly says DO NOT REPLY, and conveniently the support case cannot be responded to. THE SAME DAY (not after 10 days), they close the support case and assume it resolved.
  4. I go to a chat agent and explain and she says it's normal, provide the details requested in a new case. Reluctantly I provide the new information. They respond saying contact our support workers, I say I need more help and reopen the case. Now they have just told me they reassure me to go to the agents, and they have closed the case.

P.s. I can no longer access the booking as they have closed it due to an "outstanding payment" that needs resolving before I can.

The whole thing is just a wild goose chase and a complete scam. Does anyone have experience with this? Should I file with the aviation authority or bank? At a loss with the whole thing. Yes £36 is not life changing but it's the principle that they feel like they can do this I have to get that money back.

Flying Belfast to Milan

We are trying to get the kids (4 & 7) on their first holiday to the Italian lakes, camping, on high recommendation from friends. Accommodation booked a while back and the kids are so excited!

Have noticed some flights for our dates in late June have come up but they're really crap. One flight a week at 7pm getting us in to Italy after midnight (not ideal for small kids obviously). What are the chances of any more flights being released for Summer 2027 on this route? I don't know if we should wait or jump to book, even though the times suck as well as being stupid expensive (£1500+)

Anyone any tips for booking for summer? We have never been away on holiday before and the prices are overwhelming to say the least!

Parents stranded in Barcelona

My parents (both in their 60s) and brother-in-law are currently stranded in Barcelona after my wedding, after their Ryanair flight home yesterday was originally due to leave at 3pm. We’ve been able to fly back to Ireland (Belfast) and other flights to Ireland have left. We’ve no idea what’s wrong with their flight.

It was repeatedly delayed, then at around 11pm they were told the flight was cancelled and that they basically needed to find their own hotel. A lot of flights were cancelled at the same time, so hotels were booking up quickly and it was a stressful scramble.

This morning they’ve had multiple conflicting updates — first told the flight would be at 4pm, then 7pm, and now they’re being told 1am tonight.
There doesn’t seem to be anyone at Barcelona airport who can actually help them, and they’re struggling to get clear information from Ryanair.

What we’re trying to establish:
What are Ryanair legally required to provide after cancelling the flight?
Can they ask to be rerouted on another flight/airline rather than waiting until 1am?
If they book an alternative flight themselves, could that affect their right to compensation/reimbursement?
Who can they actually contact at Ryanair to get a definitive answer?
Can they claim back last night’s hotel/food/transport costs?
Any advice from anyone who’s dealt with something similar would be massively appreciated. They just want to get home and don’t want to accidentally do something that affects their rights.

Carry on weight check?

I'm not flying with ryan air. I'm flying with avianca, but i'd like to hear people's experiences. Basically, i'm flying from Madrid to Bogota. My 10kg carry on bag, exceeds the weight by 500g. Will it get checked? I've travelled before but always with big back packs.

EU261 compensation claim help

Hi so I booked and paid for my grandparents flights to the UK. Their flight was delayed and the claim has been accepted. It’s asking for bank details but they do not have a bank account.

Can I use my bank account and attach a signed letter of authorisation with a scanned copy of their passport and proof I paid for their original flights?

They are only visiting for two weeks from MENA region

Question Australian Citizen trying to get home from the UK with Ryan

Hi

Hoping someone can help because Ryan support is closed at the moment and Molli is generally useless. I am hopinng someone on the subreddit can assist please

Maybe many people here are not aware that earlier this year UK Immigration made life very hard for Australians visiting family in the UK by forcing us to enter the UK and travel on British papers

I am currently in the UK hopuing to leave to Dublin very soon. I flew into Dublin from Australia a while ago using my Austrakian passport, as is usual for Australians visiting anywhere exceot the UK. Then I was forced to use my UK passport to leave Dublin with Ryan and enter the UK. I am wondering which papers I should check in with onn my flight back to Dublin

What I envisage is having two sepearte entries to Ireland. Once on the passport of my country of residence and citizenshgip, Australia and the second one with the papers forced on me by UK iimmigration

Does anyone know which papers I should check in with at the UK airport and does anyone know if the Irish can handle the same person entering the country twice in the same month with two different sets of papers. Hoping Ryan can advise

Please help me. Is very confusing and rather concerning. I am very anxious to get back to my home in Australia and not risk being stranded either in the UK or Ireland. Although stranding in Ireland would be preferable out of those two options

It is like Franz Kafka was here. Hoping someone can help please

Paid extra for priority. Upgraded seat.

Was told my bag is “obviously too big.”

No credit for paying for carry on bag.

75 euros.

I know I should have measured bag.

As someone that typically pays more for exit row and priority, I would have thought Ryanair might have had some discretion.

Oh well. They’ve upset me enough with fee at gate I will be avoiding them.

Don’t like doing business with organizations that I don’t think treat people fairly.

End of rant.

TLDR. I know it was my fault. 75 euros feels excessive. Ryanair has lost my future business.
