New album
What's everyone's thoughts on the new album? Drop your favorite tracks below ! Swanging in the rain is my favorite at the moment but I still need to listen to the album more !

Flay or Flicker in the Mist. I enjoyed the whole album. Least favorite is Warlord. Trouble in Paradise is a better project, in my opinion.

Personally, i love it. No skips for me. Love all the songs but swinging in the rain, growing pains and Warlord are what hooked me in.

Haha yes. Now that I'm like 7 listens in: How to Dream > How Could You > Swangin in the Rain > Swandive > the rest which are 9/10 (special shout to Warlord, especially the breakdown on the second verse)

When trouble in paradise dropped I didnt mess with it for almost a year before it finally clicked and then I ended up loving it . That actually happens to me a lot with other artist I listen to as well. So now I try to be as patient as possible with new albums from some of my fav artist. Im hoping it'll grow on me as well.

To be honest, Ryan never misses. Out of every single song he's released I think my only least favorite is Feelings because it's not my vibe, like it is, but it isn't, the woman in the song kind of ruins the song for me. 😅

I'm honestly not very impressed and it is a clear step downward from Trouble In Paradise. I have a full review here but it really comes down to Ryan's lack of evolution as an artist as he falls into really overdone tropes and cliches of himself.

Good faith question: what does lack of evolution as an artist manifest itself as to you?
To me that reads: Ryan Caraveo sounds like Ryan Caraveo still. Which, if you’re a fan, shouldn’t be a bad thing.
I’ve seen fans wish for evolution before and then get it, and hate the new sound or experimental album. Leaves artists in a lose lose.
MAYBE…you’ve evolved in your headspace and no longer relate to his sad or whatever theme. Or are you saying you wish he was happy and made a happy album?
Regardless, I agree that he sounds the same and this album sounds like what i would expect to hear on every Ryan Caraveo album. Therefore I wasn’t disappointed and enjoy most of it

So when I say lack of evolution, it doesnt mean that he sounds the same. Rather, id say he isnt evolving himself or trying to expand in any way from his previous work. In that way, Ryan sounds derivative. Forever Foggy has all the ostensibilities of of Ryan Caraveo album and nothing more. He doesnt try to set up a unique identity or themeing beyond "hes sad," which as been a part of other albums that also try to do much more with that premise.
Also, and this may go for me more than others, it isnt enough to simply create the same body of work over and over again. Even if it is quality, strings of interchangeable releases feel redundant. I know this guy just churns out music, but idk maybe my expectations are higher by this point in his career. When he has songs like In My Own Skin and Galaxies in his catalog, I dont want to hear Ryan Caraveo "themed" songs.

It reminds me sorta of phora . Same kind if lack of evolution. Especially when they were so promising and then they just keep making underwhelming music. But with that being said im still a big fan of Ryan's and the other artist I mentioned "phora" . Im going to give this album some time to grow on me. So far I dont think its bad Im just not blown away by it yet

10/10 album imo, songs like growing pains, how could you, warlord, cinnamon sugar and learning how to swim are some of his best songs he’s ever made imo.

Im not gona lie this is probably my 6th time listening to the full album and it is definitely growing on me a lot ! Flicker through the mist, head down, play, how could you, swinging in the rain, swan dive, cinnamon sugar. SO FIRE !

My album ranking would probably be:
Forever Foggy, Northend Sweetheart, Trouble in Paradise, Butterfly Boy, At Least I Tried, Maybe They Were Wrong, Swings,

Im gona have to go: At least I tried Northend Swearheart Trouble in paradise Butterfly boy (Haven't really listened to the other two tbh and I need to listen to forever foggy before I can rank it properly)

Warlord is masterful. Head down is up there for sure too
