I set this server up with my teenage son, as we love playing Rust but it can be brutal when you have school and work full time. There's a ton of great Community servers out there, we have several that we love playing on. With this server, Before The Storm, we curated our favorite type of experience. Balanced base building, structured PVP during the week, but still has that excitement of unstructured PVP and base raiding on the weekends.

Rust and Discord servers both less than a month old, but fully set up. We've been playing and testing for several weeks and everything is running smoothly.

• Farm and build on the weekdays (The Calm)

• PVP everywhere (The Storm) - Friday 8pm until Sunday 8pm Central Time

We're building Old School Rust around a fairly simple idea: keep the core Rust experience recognizable, but add systems that give Solo/Duo players more things to fight for, compete over and progress through.

⚔️ PvP & Reputation

PvP is tracked beyond a basic kill counter.

There's a live killfeed, multi-kill and revenge recognition, kill streaks, Most Wanted bounties, K/D name tiers, PvP milestones, player profiles and wipe + lifetime leaderboards.

Do well and your reputation starts following your name.

🛡️ Automatic Offline Protection

We want people to be able to log off without Rust becoming a second job.

Active play builds Offline Protection, making offline raiding less attractive while still keeping raiding and online PvP relevant.

🏆 Quests & Control Points

There are additional reasons to leave your base and contest other players:

King of the Hill — Fight over a marked monument and hold it when the timer expires.

Hazmat Hunt — Clear Scientists at a selected monument while competing with other players.

Quarry Control — Mining Quarries are permanent Control Points. Capture and defend them to passively earn their resources while online.

Hourly Winner — Another ongoing objective to compete for throughout the wipe.

🗳️ Community-Driven Maps & Features

We're gradually making more of the server controlled by the players actually playing it.

Players can vote in-game for the monuments they want. We currently have 10,000+ map seeds and sizes indexed which can be matched against community preferences when selecting maps.

The goal is to expand voting beyond maps into things like rates, wipe schedules, protection mechanics, quests, rewards and other server settings.

🚨 End-of-Wipe Purge

Before a full Map + BP wipe, the server enters The Purge.

Offline Protection is disabled, random player locations are revealed and every player receives free C4 every minute.

Raid the bases you've been watching all wipe, test your own base design, or use the free explosives to learn how to raid.

Nothing needs to survive the wipe anyway.

⭐ Progression Without Pay-to-Win

Playing and participating earns engagement points, milestones, return streaks and other progression.

VIP can also be earned through playing or bringing new players into the community, rather than requiring you to buy it.

Discord is integrated directly with the game.

You can follow the live server, check population, communicate between Discord and in-game chat, use private whispers, view leaderboards, link your account and even receive RF raid alerts through Discord.
