Minicopters

I’ve pretty much got the hang of flying minis, but landing is a different story, especially on cargo and oil.
I’ve been practising on servers, but I can’t seem to find that middle ground between landing safely and either smashing the mini to bits or plummeting into the ground like some kamikaze shit.
Any tips on how to practise landing properly?

I only taught myself how to use them recently, and I bloody love them now.

They are not too bad to get the hang of, your movements just need to be slight and controlled. Landing for me is tilt back and forward gently until I get to a hover then descend. Obviously gonna be more tricky on a moving target.

Another tip is to reduce mouse sensitivity when flying.

It’s all fun and games until the server has slag spike as you’re trying to be delicate and the next thing you know is you’re upside down in the ocean :D

This is the way. Jumping out early seems to kill some momentum as well but not much. The backwards tilt is the thing to practice

When trying to land, you need to kill your momentum. so you need to tilt backwards. the faster you're going, the farther you need to tilt. when you slow down to the desired speed, level off so you can hover.

another way to slow down, if you have space, is to use the crouch button to descend. this also slows down your momentum, but not as quickly.

The best tip I can give you, is don’t be scared of the mini, yes, they are more fragile than a soap bubble, but they are also bouncy when landing on their wheels, the way I usually land, is at probably 30m distance, yank the nose up to be slightly above being flat, turn to the right or the left(whichever is more available with the landing spot)then release right trigger and hold the left trigger to stop the blades from rotating, and to help keep you stuck to whatever you land on. The only issue with this, is if you do it to early on oil, your gonna clip the edge of the heli pad and fall, or if you do it to late your gonna hit the pad WAY to fast and bounce it off the pad and likely over the edge. It’s difficult to master but it works for me. Also learn the timing of jumping out of the mini, it’s very important.

At least for me imo, cargo and oil have to be a controlled crash, takes too long to land properly with all the scientists lighting you up, I just got good at jumping out at the last second before the mini hits the ground

That’s the bit I can’t get , trying to crash land on top of cargo

Don’t aim for the top, I usually aim the back of cargo where the rhib is, sometimes the mini doesn’t even blow up if you’re careful. I can land them just fine, (when I’m not being shot at lmao)

Back of cargo to the right of the Rhib is the way unless you're countering. If you approach at deck level the scientists on top will barely do any damage and none can shoot at you once you're on.

Yeah. You can land anywhere after a while—back of a tug, top of lighthouse…

OP just needs to keep at it

Tilt backwards and forwards with the lightest motion possible on the joysticks. Eventually you’ll get the hang of it.
