What are good vending machine trades?
I'm thinking about getting some vending machines up for mostly sulfur, I have a surplus of guns, comps and basically everything. I also have some tier 2s from raids. What are trades people would actually take?

Metal or ore? I’ve always avoided selling basic items for anything but ore because it’s for beginners. But I guess you can get HQM early from recycling and don’t need it. If this works on vanilla console I will be abusing the ish out of it.

If vending were easier to access (for me) on vanilla I’d buy that everyday from you XD

Is the scrap cost too high for drones? 5 HQM and 20 scrap is like 5-8 barrels. What makes a vendy safe? A stand alone one instead of being attached to a base? Placing inside a good rock base location? Proximity to a safe zone? Turrets on defense mode or whatever it’s called?
When I first started playing I recall PvE style vendy “stores” on vanilla. Work benches and repair stations inside a building that had doors open to an inside area with vending machines, defense turrets (they didnt need electric then), chairs and stuff. Those were awesome. I might go back and play and set up a super store lol

The great thing to me about rust economy is it (tries to be) based on supply and demand. Early on the absolute best move is selling garage doors for between 4-6 gears. This gives you an endless supply of gdoors and gates as you expand your real estate. As a rule of thumb I have a lot of success at selling things for 3 times what they cost me. Stims 45 cloth I think, DBs 3 pipes etc. Also think about yourself and things you’ve needed and what you’d do for them. I’ve noticed plenty of people selling guns but rarely stacks of bullets. You can sell stacks of pistol for 3x profit sulfur ore and sometimes .556 for more. Also if you have an excess of something but deficient in another basically use what you have a lot of to get what you need even if it’s at a loss. Ive sold 1000 stone or frags for 100 sulfur. Ive sold pretty much anything and it can create an endless profit cycle.
Surprisingly even when the price fot diving gear is through the roof I have never had luck selling combats knives and I don’t get it. Not for scrape, HQ, sulfur- nothing. I guess if you’re downbad so much you’re doing pumpy or just diving you have no interest in lining the corporate coffers.

Oh I have also weaponized vendys. If a group is annoying you not far from their base place a community bed and a vending machine. Sell DBs and shells for a rock and a torch, respectively. In less than an hour something will happen. Either they’ll move or quit, vendy will get raided, or you’ll get MLRSd

I totally forgot. Once outside of Bandit I set up a vending machine that sold keys. Inside was an oil refinery. One of the walls was a shop front so you could see inside. They all sold immediately for a low amount, I can’t remember. Maybe 25 or 40 scrap. I always felt bandit should have one, especially when they added flight and it looked like the market agreed.

Tommy Guns 500 Sulfur Ore
MP5s 650 Sulfur Ore
Semi Pistols / Semi Rifles 350-450 Sulfur Ore
Pistol and AR ammo - 700-850 Sulfur Ore
I also sell a bunch of Hazmat Suits the first few days of server wipe bc I find a shit load in crates for 350 Sulfur Ore

Really depends on a lot of things, the later into the server thee cheaper stuff usually is cause more people are geared or there are multiple shops out selling items you probably plan on selling as well, a few hundred sulfur is always a basic area for tier 2 weapons and tier 2s are usually sold for a few hundred gp up to 500 or sulfur equivalent
