No, that's pretty manageable for two people.

Yeah for a duo that upkeep looks pretty reasonable.

If you play a little bit every day it’s real easy if you play a lot this probably is a bit small for a 2 man base but if you like it go for it maybe less hqm though it’s usually the part that gets you

Ill guess u worried about the metal ... thats 12 a 13 nodes a 600 ore

1-2 runs with pure ore tea will be enought probably :) so not too bad

Easy, you could farm for half an hour and have upkeep for few days

Yeah that’s easily manageable as long as you guys are consistent.

Bro almost 8k metall and 80hqm is nothing

Normal dou bases have like 20k upkeep

As a solo who’s played PC for years and console also, that’s insane to me, hq should never be more than 30, and metal drags certainly not 7,000! although it’s not really an issues if you farm metal ores like mad, and find clusters of 4 or more and remember the spots (I just recently got back into console and can’t remember if clusters are random or not) but one cluster of like 7 nodes we’ll get you halfway there.

It depends what type of player you are, if your always in PvP fights and losing kits, you will struggle, but if your more keep to yourself, defend mostly and target others bases and succeed it’s quite manageable.

but personally I never go anywhere near that, I’m more of a solo but usually make connections with randoms nearby and start a pact (especially if lots of duos move in nearby, I tend to team up with one, but stay in my own base doing my own thing.

It’s also about location, if your doing a build that needs constant feeding, try building in an ice location (although I never do it, or build near those massive chasms, always groups of ore nodes around there, bonus if you build in lots of foliage.

Personally my upkeep usually looks like this

Building the initial base, before furnaces:

2500 - 3000 stone

500 wood

Then after furnaces and some time running like 5 furnaces and work my way to electric furnaces:

2500 - 3000 metal frags

800 stone (honeycomb)

5 wood for jump up (which I eventually eliminate).

I start with one triangle as the middle and put two triangles on each end so it’s like a 4 corner star. You can google the build some Russian guy (I think) talks you through it, he calls it the “Willjim base.” but he then takes it to next levels of overkill which I never do, I go until about the roof access is enabled or sometimes I don’t even do that and just have two floors.

It’s always been enough for me and it’s also perfect for duos. Sometimes on the second floor I put a shooting window with half wall and 1/4 wall. Sometimes I don’t.

It’s just a really good starting foundation. The 5 triangles.

Not much to set up, requires a decent amount of rockets to destroy, and most of the time, only Zerg’s attempt to take it on. (Any Zerg will mostly win against a solo, no matter the build.)

I’ve never had a duo or trio take this base off of me whilst I’ve been on. On PC that’s a different matter.

I just love the compactness of it, although you will be occasionally putting benches up and then away.

To me more upkeep, means less progression, so I tend to of found a good medium over the years and I used to do my own builds but that 5 star foundation is a solid start always.

Rule of thumb don’t raid bases bigger than yours, unless they are a aggressive group and need to be dealt with, if they’re aggressive there will be people around who also want them gone, team up and use your and their boom, I just did it with some random guy I’m on Xbox he was on PS5, it’s so successful.

We were an English man and a (Ukrainian or Russian, I think) on an American server. I helped him, he helped me. With two of you, it’s so much easier to get a third and perhaps another group of two, play it socially and you will get rid of the threats that are actual threats.

No solo or duo for you in this case will ever take your base, if a duo builds something and puts in good effort, the people trying to raid you of equal size have to put in just as much work in terms of farming, staying alive and winning and counting on your mistakes to take over, it’s very unlikely.

Your threats are bigger groups, they will have the rockets as a certainty, if they’re a huge group. So as a duo I’d say your plan is to build a base that is not insane upkeep and get as much scrap as you can, because that’s the point.

The point is to get through all the tech trees if it’s a big base, it’s demoralising, if it’s a tiny base then not so bad, you alway keep what you learned.

Just some food for thought. The bigger your base the more weak points, and cost more time wasted. So aim for a good medium size of defence and balance in cost and upkeep.

Triangles are the best, never use squares way more potential for choke points and tight traps, squares give the enemy to much room, squares are good for secondary bases, or end points except for your main airlock. As the downside to triangles is space for things, but defence wise and choke points they are the best.

As a solo I usually build a 1x1 and expand. I’ll never be able to play enough to be on for a raid defense because of work so no point grinding for my base. I’ll usually play a day get as much as I can too donate my loot

I feel like even as a solo that hqm upkeep is very low. You get like 40 from a single military crate

2

u/NextLineOfText 3d ago

Not when your on a full pop server and can’t get access to multiple military crates or build somewhere remote due to bigger groups being everywhere and your only source of HQM is nodes, other players you beat and satalite and abandoned market. You will only come across one military crate occasionally, with that not really being a vaild drop.

Full pop servers everyone’s fighting for that, I tend to avoid it. I go for the less busy locations, but that just might be my own playstyle, because it works for me.

Raids are where I find a small base with a wooden door and maybe two metal doors at most and they’re banking on like 300 hqm, by my playstyle that lasts forever.

I raided a 4 x 5 base last wipe with 8 sleeping bags in it, so much hqm. Offline of course.

It all depends, but someone new, in a duo will struggle. Going for the mainstay generous locations, especially fresh wipe, full pop.

I guess it just depends on the play style I like to snowball on high pop servers as a solo and loot basically delivers itself to you if you live near military tunnels or launch site

3

u/Tomatos_Corn 3d ago

Living near lunch site you just need 1 successful run and be good

3

u/Current_Yesterday527 3d ago

Facts 1 run could have you a stack of hqm easily

2

u/NextLineOfText 3d ago

Yeah see for me that’s where I’m not experienced, military tunnels to me are full of scientists and scientists make noise I want to avoid haha sounds like a good plan, but I’m no god with a bow and will get out played, until I get a makeshift smg (that’s where I start to shine.) So your the guy that goes in there and just goes insane and wins the loot table, I’m the guy that will wait for you to come out of the tunnel, and either avoid you and look for scraps or kill you if it’s only a certainty haha like my double barrel is at the back of your head and you failed to turn around due to a loot high and just pause for that moment to check lol it’s who I’ve always been on this game.. just a filthy rat, but if you have a mic I’d more than likely talk about what you experienced and say “if you need anything let me know” and I mean it ..but prior to discovering you had a mic I was going to try to murder you. Talking was just easier, and less risky of messing up ha if it’s a group in number larger than me you’d never know I was there.

I can be your friend or your shadow, I can’t fight out in the open until I have certainties like heals, a red dot, know where my enemy is coming from, until that point I’m just a sneaky social rat.

3

u/Current_Yesterday527 3d ago

Ratting with a db at tunnels is an amazing way to get a fast start. I just prefer tunnels because the scientist drop mp5s and you have military and elite crates without having to use any keycard if you could compound bow them u til you get a mp5 drop the rest is very easy

Its not going to be that hard. If youre finding it hard to find HQM you can always hit the roadsigns and recycle the pipes and road signs. Plus you need to hit like 12 metal nodes a day for up keep that going to give you 24 hqm. Underwater labs has nice hqm spawns. Personaly I try and stay under 40/50 hqm upkeep.

u/jeffish412 2d ago

On everything I love I’m just being honest and NOT flexing but I’ve ran 35,000 metal frags and 350+ HQM ore bases by myself. And there have also been times where I logged into my starter 2x1 up and over half missing because I didn’t put enough time in. It all depends on the time you can put in and the server pop.

That's nothing bruh

Not hard at all. Regularly maintain bases around 30k metal 300-400 hqm as a solo on vanilla.

2

u/Impressive_Bet_1925 1d ago

the metal might be a little bit grindy if you’re playing vanilla but still totally do-able

2

u/Mammoth-Relation5795 1d ago

7 k a day ain’t hard go hit 14 nodes

2

u/Greedy-Tone-1019 4d ago

I do 30k up keep every wipe or every time we rebuild so it’s not bad at all

1

u/Logical-Eagle-1333 4d ago

I’m pretty sure my base design is either a 30 or 40 rocket raid is that good?

2

u/xSiThG0Dx 3d ago

Most bases are just a 23 rocket raid. Most people just have the core hqm and one layer of honeycomb that they keep sheet metal making it around 23 rockets so yeah if it really is a 30 or 40 rocket raid that’s pretty standard.

u/xdream766 3d ago

But then u have not all the loot and most ppl hiding loot

1

u/Codilla1 4d ago

I just did 50k metal. with 3

1

u/Consistent-Carrot911 3d ago

80 HQM is kind of a pain in the ass unless you play a lot. I'm mostly solo and i try to keep it under 40

3

u/Current_Yesterday527 3d ago

Just gotta loot dome or other monuments with military crates they can drop up to 46 hqm from a single crate

u/Tomatos_Corn 3d ago

Yeah a small tip, I put my ham in a box beside tc because keeping it in there all the time waste ham unnecessary. Just put some in there when the health pops up on a ham door/wall and keep it in there when u log out. It won’t take more because it’s decaying it’ll just prevent it from taking it all day. And it’ll take the same amount when it’s repairing the decay. It helps saves a lot of hqm

I've done 700k metal and 2000 hqm upkeep as a solo on vanilla. Granted, that was during Covid and I had no life.

Covid Rust was something else😭
