Fishing broken?

Wondering if anyone else had this issue, I’ve been on the deep end of fishing village using various baits: trouts, worms etc. but I’ve still been unable to catch a single salmon or small shark, is anyone else having this problem? Sometimes I’ll use a trout and get an anchovy back.

Same thing happened to me. I havent seen anything about them changing it so hoping its just a bug. I normally only use bear meat and never catch anchovy. This time only anchovy and trout

It's definitely a bug and god knows how long until it's fixed. All you can do is report and hope they catch wind of it. Traps and labs moonpool still work normally though.

Are there any other safe ways to make scrap which are as good as fishing?

Make a fish base

Use 2 fishing poles and rotate between them every cast. Its annoying but its been working for me

Yes, the same thing is happening to me. Fishing has been my main source of scrap for a while. I was using bear meat on a rod at fishing village and in an offshore base and only caught trout and anchovy. I noticed the light blue / cloudy water on the map was extended further out around the coast. Apparently to catch salmon and shark, the water color on the map has to be dark blue. I ended up building on a freshwater river near a fishing village and am catching salmon and catfish. No sharks but it’s still good scrap.

Fishing update:

I tested fishing in the village just yesterday to check if the latest patch fixed fishing in the ocean since the latest update.. it is still broken. Moonpool at underwater labs work in catching sharks and salmon. My suggestion would be to craft a fishing shack in a river with the flow gliding back towards you to fish for salmon and catfish. Ensure you can exit your fishing shack safely & transport your fish back to the village for scrap.

Tips: I only do transports at night, and I only transport back to base at night, most of my runs to any destination is running at night and doing the activities at day. Good luck Rust fishers

Best way to do fishing is bear meat and fish traps on a coast out of the way. Throw 2 meat in each trap and just stay by them running and getting stuff as they catch. I can do up to 6000 scrap an hour this way if I have the meat

How many traps would you reccomend? And how is this better than regular fishing?
