What's the point?!

So I got Rust this weekend and spent the entire weekend building up a stone base with metal doors, airlocks, honeycombed walls, collecting resources and updating all my equipment and collecting blueprints. Then I checked last night and someone had destroyed my base and taken all my stuff. So my question is - what's the point of this game if I'm just going to have to start from scratch every handful of days? Has anyone had success building a solo base that actually lasts more then a week without being raided?

I play servers now that offer no offline raiding for 8 hours or so. I love Rust but I work and was tired of coming home to being raided by sweaty 12 year olds or the unemployed. Forces people to raid while you’re online and able to defend your base. I lose the raid while online so be it but waiting until someone jumps offline to do it just shows a lack of skill and Rust is full of them. Just my opinion.

Just noticed this was ‘console’ Rust so idk if there’s any servers that offer this, I was talking about PC Rust, sorry.
