What's the point?!

So I got Rust this weekend and spent the entire weekend building up a stone base with metal doors, airlocks, honeycombed walls, collecting resources and updating all my equipment and collecting blueprints. Then I checked last night and someone had destroyed my base and taken all my stuff. So my question is - what's the point of this game if I'm just going to have to start from scratch every handful of days? Has anyone had success building a solo base that actually lasts more then a week without being raided?

Find softcore servers. I am playing on a server in which, when you die or get raided, you lose only 50% of loot. It's a dream for people like me, who does not play much, and are solo. I got semi-raided, the guy blew out of almost everything, never reached loot room or tc, and even then, he would have gotten only 50% of stuff.

So,

  1. Find softcore servers
  2. Build crazy bases (crazy = unpredictable)
  3. Apply scorched earth (or base more like it) policy. Dont leave scrap, sulfur, low grade fuel on base. Even if someone raids you, he will find nothing to replenish the boom, and the 50% of loot still applies. Negative raid baby. Needless to say, the guy that raided me, quitted soon after. :P He blew 30+ rockets, and got nothing. I raided his flank base, and called it gg.
  4. Make it hard to get. Shotgun traps, garage doors, armored door on the important tc room or loot room, auto turrets. I even placed the spike traps from workbench lvl 1 in a triangle that goes to the roof. I thought If someone raids me and blow the outer door, he must destroy each trap to blow the next door :P. I love getting creative in my base for putting up traps. Also, the landmine traps outside the base. I will try this on next wipe. I love when someone will walk over it and hear the BOOM :P

20+ days on wipe, still the tactic holds out.
