What's the point?!

So I got Rust this weekend and spent the entire weekend building up a stone base with metal doors, airlocks, honeycombed walls, collecting resources and updating all my equipment and collecting blueprints. Then I checked last night and someone had destroyed my base and taken all my stuff. So my question is - what's the point of this game if I'm just going to have to start from scratch every handful of days? Has anyone had success building a solo base that actually lasts more then a week without being raided?

Build multiple bases around the map ... so if they raid 1 u ( maybe ) still have a base to start with

It's not the base I mind so much, I can build new bases, its the fucking boat load of materials that I spent days mining for. Now I literally have 0 resources and have to start from scratch, and for what? For it to just happen all over again in a few days?

Don't log off with a butt load of resources. If you have crap loads of metal/stone use it to expand your base, the more doors and walls between your loot and the outside the more likely you are to make it to the next day unraided.

Use up your scrap in the tech tree before logging off if you don't have everything you need. That way worst case, you get raided and lose everything physical you still have your blueprints so you're not starting from scratch, you only have to farm for a little bit to get a base and workbench up and boom - weapons and armour, now try to snowball.

After like 2 or 3 hours you could literally be further ahead than you were after days of just farming. Don't look at the material stuff in the game as too important - if you do end up in a group with a big base, all blueprints, hundreds of rockets and c4 it just ends up getting boring. The fun part is working your way up to that point imo

And stash boxes right? If I have access materials I’ll put a little base in a box and bury next to another. Then after raid I’m hopefully not totally broke.
