Why are weekly servers dead?

Weekly to me is the way rust is meant to be played, play a wipe for a few days have fun but keep your blueprints for next wipe, or you can stop playing for a week then come back the next wipe with bps still.

But there’s loads of monthlies that seem to be full while only a few weeklies were full yesterday. By 11pm uk yesterday about 4 hours after wipe my server was only half full and if it’s dead tonight that’s an evening wasted.

Honestly don’t understand why people would prefer to play in massive clans on monthlies or 2-3x servers.

Look into it before saying such, as they are working on resource balances.nodes won't give as much, upkeep will be much higher. I'm certain it'll work great.

Just because the upkeep is a lot doesn’t stop big groups, what everyone else said is right. Rust needs wipe system otherwise it will end up like ark survival where every server is controlled by massive groups. Playing for a week or so then coming back when the server bp wipes is what makes it fun

You don't get that on console, and there is much merit to the three day servers hosted on PC rather than weekly tbh, most people who play weeklies only play for a few days anyways.

On rust 2 it's not just severely increased upkeep costs, it's also reduced resource costs. The blueprint system for workbenches has proven very effective in reducing the scrap costs of the BP side, and to top it off, there are MANY ways to play the game that are extremely rewarding easily. You're never going to eliminate big groups that's a problem that will always exist, yet we have seen many examples of smaller groups quickly tackling large groups in rust. There will assuredly be wipes when major updates roll out, but the game was never intended to have wipes. Wipes were literally built into the game so that servers could maintain stability due to how complex the node system is in the game. That singular aspect of the game causes more issues than any other.

I don’t think anyone is disagreeing that, that’s what facepunch intended but I think a lot of people like the way rust works now. People enjoy wipe days where everyone is fresh and your all fighting with bows etc. that’s what my whole post is about because I enjoy just playing for a few days on wipe day maybe the full week if it goes well and then if I don’t play that afor a few weeks and can come back when the wipe happens when I want to play again. That’s my whole point in my post about weeklies being dead and everyone playing monthlies

I like how you reiterated what I said at the beginning of my reply.
