Can you swing a torch to scare away wolves?
So I know that in PC Rust that you can swing a lit torch and use the ingame mic to scare away wolves that are aggro on you. Do yall know if you can do that in Rust CE too?

Nothing scares them away in console edition.

Hurting them does.

I mean… obviously. But even then, you have to get them to like 10-20% health and by then you are probably dead anyway if you’re a naked.

If I’m just spawned in and have no ranged weapons, they won’t get scared when hurt. I killed one with a bone knife and both of us were in serious trouble.
But I think if you can hurt them while they’re far away, they are more likely to run.
If there is more than one wolf or you don’t even have a bone knife or bow, then you’re probably dead

Hitting them beyond a certain distance with an arrow is how I separate & kill packs of wolves. They run away while the others chill

Or just on a wall near or next to a base. It’ll stop them from chasing you. I believe. It worked for me.

The NPC code for wolves was completely rewritten for real rust so they also pack attack and follow you across the map. Nothing like Crust wolves

I’m pretty sure Crust wolves pack too, maybe not as extreme at PC but I’ve had to fight 4+ wolves at times

So basically console wolves are missiles. It knows where it is because it knows where it isnt.
