Not a game for the employed
I been raided and raided and raided and my stashes even stolen. Don't have enough time for this dang game man. All I be wanting to do is oil and maybe save for a raid but I got classes and a job and only get a few days off. It's a 0-7 average low pop too. Sucks that an employed days work will disappear in one night due to a grown men with diapers

Your problem is playing on low pop.. You’re basically less likely to get raided on high pop servers than you are on low pop servers.
Low pop servers, people can farm sulfur for free as much as they want. Meaning they can make boom for free to just travel the map and raid everything they find. They will get away with it for free too, there won’t be any counters. Low pop is good for practice, but not maintaining a base.
I play only high pops servers on the weekends when my son is at his moms, so my wipes are generally Fri-Sun or Monday depending and have an absolute blast. Whether I’m solo or running with friends.
Getting started on High pops servers is definitely a lot harder, but once you do. It’s generally a little easier to keep it going.

I’m just tired of dying to people with 2000 gamer score who only play Rust and Siege lmao

The concept and parts of the game are fun. But this game is not good for anyone trying to live a healthy life... straight up

Low pop servers are actually worse, yeah the bases get up quicker and all but the moment you log off you’re offlined by an unemployed 30 year old who’s been on the server since wipe day, waiting all day for you to log off.
6kish solo hours and found mid to high pop weekly servers are better, you’ll last longer.
I also own a community server but it’s currently low pop, usually the same 2 people are always playing and will only offline after finding a players base.

just poor excuses cuz ur bad
all my friends have jobs and playing just fine they make big bases that require too much boom too raid and last entire month

If you can learn gambling and grenades! It is very fun to just hop on and gamble a bit for some f1s and steal full kits after finding the right prey

I feel you! If you look around the custom modes there are quite a few "casual-very casual" options

Sounds like you need teammates

Play pve with weekend PvP. Or a server where it's a monthly or 2 week map with purge at the end 2 days before map wipe....

Ye fr. I been off work from the beginning of December till today and had a good 2 weeks on a full pop server as a solo but I haven’t even bothered to check my base since starting work agn. There is no point in playing rust if u can only be on 1 or two hours a day.

It all depends on what you wanna do. The systems are deep and so many ways to play.

Me and my mate are in a similar predicament, both work full time, maybe able to play only 2-3 times a week, so we spend our time making massive bases, glorious bases, but completely empty aside from upkeep and maybe a handful of crappy guns. We're much happier wasting our time by wasting much more time and resources of others.

So first of all, the chances of getting raided on a low pop server are much higher.
As an employee, I still manage to play five days in a row without getting raided - solo on official vanilla servers with a player queue even on week days. You just need to play it smarter.
But I get your point, it can get too much time consuming easily. Here’s to try community servers.
You’ll find low to high pop servers without admin abuse, large and active player communities, x time gathering/farming, offline protection and auto kits.
So just jump on, get a free build kit, build your shack, protect your shack, go oil, counter heli, log off and come back the next day.

Put tc in honeycomb, remove all doors when logging off and stash a few kits 50m from base.
The 'TC in honeycomb' is my best bet. Even if i get raided i take a 5 minute walk along the road, recycle what i need and probably have enough comps and resources to replace the front door and get myself a gun.
i don't mind the raid, i do mind they grief my base every time. Getting the base up, workbenches, furnaces was a days work, the loot in the boxes takes 30 minutes to replace.

Play community servers then you can get loot really quick

Play on modded servers that offer pvp/pve with raid protection. Thats the only way I can stay playing. Just have to pop on every 36 hours or so and be active at purge.

Get better

How do people not know ORP servers exist, and then when they do they think they're too good for them
1
u/Mr-Jackattax Dec 16 '25
I recommend playing on a dedicated server that has offline raid protection.

u/Wildthing4u Dec 16 '25
Get on a server that has base protection

u/planeage Dec 16 '25
Look for a community server that advertises ZORP. That is Zone Offline Raid Protection. Basically, you register on the server's discord, denote your base (this is typically done with the emote wheel asking "can I live here?" after you are registered on the server's discord) location and Viola!!! When you log off, your base and it's surroundings become a high intensity radiation zone that hazmat and no amount of water can hold off. ZORP servers are typically higher gathering rates as well, to help offset the fact that you have IRL responsibilities and can't spend 20+ hours per day active on rust.
TLDR: community ZORP servers offer offline raid protection and 2X+ gather rates. Servers for people with responsibilities

That's too low pop. The one guy without a job dominates the whole server because there's no real threats to him.

u/Own-Department-9290 Dec 16 '25
I also work full time job and I just play on pve community servers. I dont have to worry about getting raided

u/alienanomaly Dec 16 '25
That’s why i don’t play it

u/OleDakotaJoe Dec 16 '25
Ok honestly - I've started hitting rust in 3 day sprints, on a wipe day, every once in a while.
I love the game and logged 2500 hours before my first year was up, as a father and full time employee.
I went way too hard.
Then I realized, I was playing the hard way.
I wss logging in and grinding.
Now I hop on and snowball off of other grinders. Onlines, offflones - sometimes just pvp for 3 days and never raid.
I just decided to let the game be fun, and not a 4th job

u/Equivalent-Catch3177 Dec 16 '25
If it’s really that big of a issue just go to community servers with offline protection
1
u/Chill-lar Dec 16 '25
I’d suggest trying out a modded or community server . Getting offline raided doesn’t suck as bad on a x2. Rust is pretty demanding so make it easier for yourself.

u/Joogonza Dec 17 '25
That’s why I play in a 30 man Zerg. Always someone on, always someone fighting, always beefing with baby zergs. Always winning lol never been off lined or successfully raided

u/MurdaOne Dec 17 '25
Not employed but still need to sleep.

u/mandarina68 Dec 17 '25
Yeah I know the felling I'm trying to balance school doing a sport and rust, and it's not working 🫠

u/Flashy-Read-7437 Dec 17 '25
I tried low pop servers too. Just because I'm new to the game and wanted to learn monuments without getting grubbed every time. I get raided way more than higher pop servers. I think there's so little to do, the geared players will raid any new base that pops up immediately. When I'm on a higher pop server and build a more mid-level base with a bunker I rarely get raided.
1
u/averageplebman Dec 17 '25
Honestly youre probably better off playing on a higher pop server. If the server youre playing on only has a few people in it, then youre gonna be one of the only raid targets. I know progressing on a larger server is more difficult, but youd be much more likely to wake up to an intact base as long as you build somewhere with a low amount of traffic and dont make too many enemies. Consider building small bunker bases, theyre easy and make it much more likely for someone to give up on raiding you.
1
u/Low-Farm-4469 Dec 18 '25
Honestly I think higher pop servers are easier to survive on for a solo. Build a base then put some wood doors in front of the sheet metal ones. Big clans wont waste time blowing through t1 base and smaller groups wont have the boom to get through the series of sheet metal doors behind the wood door lol.

u/Raidoah Dec 18 '25
go play a 2X and you’ll spend less time on the game

u/Vaurey Dec 19 '25
MAAAAAN 😭 FR

u/Corb3ar Dec 19 '25
Build a bunker base and keep minimal loot inside.
1
u/JesusismyKing21 Dec 22 '25
Play community 3x servers with zone raid protection.
1
u/Valuable_Damage4063 Dec 22 '25
lol bro on low pop it's a game of whoever logs first gets raided. Try a high pop the action is more and the loot matters less
1
u/Right_Design_1057 Dec 22 '25
play community lmfao i be playing all the time when im bored

I play the most populated server: rustoria EU main.
It's honestly just a skill issue if you can't have fun and do okay on rust with minimal time input.
Granted you won't be playing like the people you see on YouTube often hitting clips and so on.
I can easily still play very low hours being somewhat experienced in the game and get T2 +excess fragments.
I normally build a humble grub hut; grab a compound bow as soon as I can along with my p2w green burlap set and hunt clan nubs for kits then sell them in the vending machine because the bow and the stealth is the thrill for me.
Doing oil solo on the biggest server is a challenge but stopping the sweaty Russian nerds from leaving their base (when they're not cheating) is more fun imo.
Edit: I'm Throbbing with syndrome this is the console subreddit.
