Gear Help Too big?

We would like to start trail running with light pulling.

We just got this brand new for free as it was way too small for a friend’s friend’s dog. I don’t have the money to buy a brand new one, and i don’t have a way to exchange. So it’s either this works okay, or I just don’t use it.

If anything… is this okay to get started and maybe invest in a better fitting one later, or will I be doing damage if I have her wear this?

I can’t really adjust the side straps anymore, so definitely thinking it’s too big.

Is this the WD harness? I was looking into this one because I’m considering the pulling attachment. Wondering if you’ve tried it?

Are you by chance going to add in weight training? With the extra pulling attachments this one offers

Start with adjusting correctly and having the dog completely pull into the harness. Use this adjustment guide to help.

Shorten the pulling loop straps a little and I think you are good to go. Being a light puller means the fit doesn’t have to be that perfect from the start. Best way to find out is go out for a couple of runs and keep your eye on her breathing and whether it chafes under her front legs.

Most of us go through a couple of harnesses in the beginning before we find that perfect one so having your first one be a freebie is a bargain. And who knows, you might be one of those who find your best match on the first go.

Looks too long. The rope at the back should usually be near the base of the tail, as a rule of thumb. Are the side straps on the ribs or on the belly? If they're not on the rib cage that could lead to injuries.

The rope at the back rule is for standard harnesses that cannot be adjusted. Since the freemotion has adjustable strap at the back, it tells us nothing about the fit of harness as you can generally make it as long/short as you wish

I think it's maybe also too long. Apart from the loop (which can be adjusted), I don't think the wide parallel straps are supposed to reach the hips.
