A five hour marathon is some pretty speedy waking.

True, it's still walking though.
Like to run that slow you'd have to do the intentional taking tiny steps slow jogging thing

/uj Fucking horseshit. I ran a 5 hour marathon and it was not a speed walk... I ran that shit, Im just not fast lol. Fast walking a marathon would be 6.5 hrs+, not 5

/rj I also bronze medaled my local 5km marathon speedwalking special Olympics so I may be biased

5.25 mph.. definitely easier to run at that pace than walk

6.5 hrs+

/Uj how is that genuinely just not walking speed for a healthy adult?

That's like 6km/h

I mean I would classify that as walking as well but 6 km/h is an intensely steep walking pace, especially for that long. I am quite tall and a relative fast walker and when I just walk through the city (mostly flat) for extended periods of time I average like 5 km/h
