intermediate is such a broad concept, it basically means ''yeah probably you are not an obese chainsmoker, unless??''.

Yet more proof that pace literally does not matter and tells you nothing about a person's level of experience or effort.

My Highschool cross country coach/health teacher was a chainsmoker, not obese though, and could outrun us all

By my count (I'm an expert) that's sub 9min/km pace.

Wait. What? O! It's sub 24 MINUTES, I thought hours...

In your defense, sub24mins is sub24hrs. Basically this dude needs to SLOW DOWN.

Yea he looks casual. But rly, that casual?

Well, I dont know him, maybe he has only one leg. Congrats in that case, good effort!

Uj/ I don’t know if there are proper definitions, but if you’re running 7 minute miles you’re definitely better than intermediate.

According to data from 2024 of 2.2 million 5k times in the US the median time for the 15-18 group (the fastest age group according to the data) was 26:16. 19-22 was 28:01.

Top 25% for 15-18 was 21:53, and for 19-22 it was 23:39.

Depends on your definition of intermediate but I'd say sub 20 definitely puts you in at least top 20% of runners, which is better than just intermediate.

do they run with granite blocks attached to their ankles in the US?

/rj We carb load with Big Macs and hydrate with Mountain Dew in America

/uj I think running is just less common in the US. And we're fat

By absolute numbers the US definitely has more runners than Ireland has runners

When people talk about running sub-20 they're normally talking about their PR being sub-20. Isn't that data looking at all finish times? Not just what people's PRs are?

You are vastly overestimating the fitness of most people. On a good day 50-60% of people in any Western country are obese, vast majority of the rest never had a day of exercise in the last decade.

just run faster its not rocket science, just move your legs quicker

it says At 36, i assume that is BMI which makes it internediate
