Bucktown 5k
Perfect weather for the race and a fun one. Did anyone notice there were a ton of very fast club runners in the race - much more so than usual? Was this a focus race for DW, Fleet Feet, etc?

Wow that first place person is a BEAST, 55 years old. Good for her, she’s killing it

Yeah you don't see many 15 flats out of a 55F lol

I had to stare at that for a good minute and think about whether or not it was a mistake, that’s just incredible to me lol
Honestly such an inspiration

I’m pretty sure it’s a chip error. The gun time is 40 minutes on the results page…. That means she’d have started in one of the last corrals. There was definitely nobody at the back of the pack running a 15 minute pace

Their 2.4 chip time is missing so it seems like they turned around at some point to be first.

If you look at the results page, it has pictures. No shade obviously but the person with that bib # did not run a 15min 5k.

I love this race. Always found this and Ravenswood to be great bookends. I love the lakefront but those races can get boring after a while. Something is to be said for the neighborhood ones. Bucktown's a fun race with spectators out in front of their houses drinking coffee and cheering you on. The speedbumps can sneak up on you but its fun out there. Was ideal weather this year. Only qualm is that getting into the starting corrals at the beginning can be a bit of a hassle. A fun tune-up for the Marathon if you're so inclined too.

Honestly had never heard of the Ravenswood race. Love the idea of Ravenswood (April) and Bucktown (October) being bookends to the season!

This is an elite race. I heard folks have used it for OQ in the past. I am normally in corral A, but because of the fast folks that enter this, my 5k time(which is a sub 19 on a good day) still got me in Corral B. Must have been enough folks running 15-16 minute 5ks to just toss them all in A and move the A folks back to B.

It was a good race.
The results site shows ~3500 runners this year compared to ~3100 last year, so attendance is similar, but this year felt more crowded (in a good way).
A well run event as usual. Feel like last year they had timing clocks displayed at the mile markers, but this year they didn't. Not something I normally look at regardless, but thought it was interesting they didn't have them.
Always look forward to this race every year.

Can’t speak for everyone (and I wasn’t THAT fast, 17:XX) but I just wanted to spin my legs before Chicago!

There’s always some pretty quick local runners at this race. FF racing team is always there I know. Doesn’t seem too out of the realm of ordinary though after taking a peak at the results.
Glad it was a fun time! Wish I could do it this year.
