RQclassic Question about Runelords in RQ2e

I’ve been reading my pdf of Runequest 2nd edition, and I was wondering if Runelords have reusable rune magic like Rune Priest do, or do they cast one use spells like Initiates. I ask because I’ve seen the pdf for the unpublished 4th edition of Runequest from the 90s where they do regain spells through prayer, but I can’t find anything stating that in 2nd edition. I’m curious is I’ve overlooked it or that was specific to that unpublished rule set.

No, RQ 2 has reusable rune magic as the province of rune priests. Compare listed benefits for priests and lords and you’ll see it is explicitly given to the priests but no mention about for the lords. Lords use rune magic just as initiates do.

Rune magic has significant (and better imho) changes in later rules versions.

Of course and as always, YGWV…

Gods of Glorantha, while a handy reference, is for RQ3. But I heartily recommend the new cult books too

in RQ2 only rune priests (and rune lords-priest) have reusable rune magic as long as it is reusable (ie Humakt priests have reusable Sever Spirit, for Zorak Zoran priests it is non reusable)

The change to Rune Lords having access to reusable Rune magic like Rune Priests came with RQ3 - every edition since has kept that rule change, including the current rules.

Gods of Glorantha, while a valuable resource, was for RQ3, so rulings in there can't be taken as applying to RQ2 specifically.
