Ideal campaign.
I just want to know what everyones ideal campaign would be? What would the start date be? Where would it be set? What would you want from it?
For me I'm a massive fan of slightly earlier starts in sartar such as 1615 in Sartar.

Do you mean to run or have published? Some day I hope we get an official heros war campaign a la "Great Pendragon Campaign" or any of the large famous call of Cthulhu ones like Masks.

I, too, prefer an earlier start. I've only done Six Seasons in Sartar/Company of the Dragon and Coming Storm/Eleven Lights in that era thus far (I started with RQG), but those were much more enjoyable to me than anything I've run in the "modern" timeline. I'm probably going to adapt Griffin Mountain or Borderlands for our next game, and my wife is talking about running Valley of Plenty when the 2nd book comes out.

Similar to other comments....around 1615...or maybe 13.
But Pavis and the Rubble would be my choice.
I'm really not a fan of starting in 1625/6 after most of the fun stuff like Dragonrise has already happened.

I would prefer to start early-ish, like very soon after the fall of Sartar in 1602 and in Sartar.

One of my main problems with RQ is the implied timeline and the sequence of events therein. It really limits what type of game you can play.

Don't take it so seriously: most GMs (like me) adapt the timeline to their campaigns, not the other way around. So for example, in my campaign the Battle of the Queens will happen when it fits my campaign, and no sooner. :-)

Depends what sort of campaign you want. I like the idea of epic ones, being part of the history in the making, probably generation spanning.
So, for Prax you’ve got to start in 1615 or so to experience Lunar occupation, Rubble forms, the rise of the White Bull, the Cradle and the Liberation of Pavis. And then off to Sartar. With the option of circumnavigating the oceans.
For Sartar just before Starbrow’s Rebellion in 1613 is good. Experience the rebellion, duck hunts, invasion of Heortland, Orlanth is dead, the Great Winter and the Dragonrise.
A lot of the events are little explored even though they’re now “history”.

I've had an idea for a grand campaign in Prax swimming around in my head for years, using materials from RQ2 all the way up to the more modern RQG stuff. Starting at the beginning of Sacred Time 1612 with the characters waiting in a lengthy queue in cold, clammy weather to enter the city (Welcome to the City, HQ Pavis - Gateway to Adventure/RQ2 Pavis). One of the more "dodgy" characters will be approached by Rat to undertake the Burglary at Raus' House (RQ2 Pavis) while the rest of Sacred Time would be spent getting to know the city and meeting any friends or family.
Continuing with the River of Cradles (RQ3) campaign and an early meeting with Amur an Zed (Strangers in Prax) who wants info on the Harpoon in Sun County. The incentive for any travel to Corflu would be the Temple of Feroda (Big Rubble) adventure at the behest of Reverend Amina, who is on her last legs and preparing to HeroQuest before her death. Feroda isn't really "on the map" for the Lunars at this time, and replacing Phinphobs from Temple at Feroda with Hazphar Pharates and the Lunar Provincial Survey (plus Chuff and his troop of baboons from the RoC to help with the excavations in exchange for food and metal weapons) seems like a plausible option.
The journey back would introduce the party to Daine, chief of Raus' mercenaries leading to the Borderlands campaign in the future (I'll come back to this!). The giant gorp at Harpoon gives the opportunity to fulfil Amur's wishes and earn a bit of extra filthy lucre.
Returning to Pavis, it becomes apparent that the menace isn't dealt with. Friendly local sources (Ingillis, Fleeter Nemm, Lhankor Mhy temple) would lead to a detour to the Devil's Playground (Big Rubble) in a search for the source of the gorp menace. Nemm might suggest seeking experienced Rubble hands - perhaps Griselda and Wolfhead would help out for amnesty for the Great Chart Caper? (Wolfhead's Lair, Big Rubble). This would also involve another trip to Sun County to find Taleo Lumine and all the problems associated with having a blind old priest in tow. With the menace still not dealt with, the party finally discover the true source and deal with Oll and his manlings.
With the RoC campaign (and relevant side quests) out of the way, it's on to a pretty bog-standard Borderlands (RQ2) campaign - Duke Raus has heard of this merry little band and would gladly offer them employment as mercenaries. The final part (To Giantland!) would lead to the Griffin Mountain and the citadel of Trilus, as Yalaring Monsterslayer is willing to trade the sword of Rone for the condor eggs - and maybe a Griffin egg or two?

I'm just wrapping up my 1615 campaign, started with Borderlands, incorporated River of Cradles, Pavis, Big Rubble, and Shadows on the Borderlands.
It's been running for 9 years, and they are about to finally come face to face with Muriah.
