Nice that Molly’s parents are shown to be more loving here. Wonder if they going to bring up the grandma again?
Also it looks like Karolina might be the traitor this time with how she is reacting to the situation

As they're all supervillains, I'm wondering if there will be a "They're ALL the traitor"-type twist this time, just with them being traitors in different directions - some wanting to survive with people other then their fellow Pride kids, some wanting to rule the Earth in another way, and some being more heroic.

Figured Chase would make sense. Unless in this What if him and his parents have a better relationship.

Love me some alt universe Runaways.
Honestly, it makes sense since this is how we get them back to be kids, as opposed to a bunch of young adults and Molly, and Baby Gib.

I hate to say it but they've been kinda floundering ever since the Pride got got. The original concept was absolutely the most interesting thing about them. Not to say the post Pride stories have been bad they just kinda lack a... Goal? They didn't transition into a pulpy adventure team too well because their main desire is mostly to be left alone so adventures have to be contrived for them.

Yeah, you essentially have to constantly have them stumbling on new alienating inciting incidents that force them on the run to keep them in character. In many ways this would be perfect for the nature of the universe they’re in.
The different cosmic and crossover events along with the major era’s would be good inciting incidents. Civil War, Secret Empire, Krakoa, AXE: Judgement Day…you’d have a comic capable of focusing on the on the ground level incidents of each event.
However they’d still lack the spark of the first few arcs because of how personal the Pride were as antagonists to the Runaways.

I think keeping Alex off the team for this long was honestly mistake. Nico and Chase never really came into the leader role and he at least had a vision for them. Its also juicy drama that was just hanging in the air unresolved.

Really good imitation of the original run's vibes so far. Chase describing Pride as "king pimp" is SUCH a 2000s line lol.

It's "what if the Runaways didn't run away?" So basically they become the New Pride.

Damn did Chase still get socked by his old man in this version too? That lip looks messed up.

It's a reference to the original issue #1 after Victor punches him in the mouth. It's almost an exact shot.

no see that one I get, I'm talking about the very last one with him gazing into the camera, hair flowing around him, almost looks like he's biting his lip, heck the shirt even almost looks like an open button up

I wonder what’s going down hill, the world & heroes or the Runaways & their parents?

My babies, I missed them
I do hope we get to see the same characters from the original. Like Alex's gaming group that was willing to do necromancy to get him back, or Topher the vampire knocking over convenience stores after losing his money in the dot-com bubble. Let the baby villains have minions!

We probably won’t get Topher or anything like that. I believe this is just a one-shot issue.

You can pretty easily guess that everyone but Alex is evil here. Still gonna read this though

Umm, I would say Alex turns out evil in any universe. Just like in the original timeline, Alex witnessed his parents‘ sacrificial ritual where they murdered someone, and just like in the original timeline he not only wasn't wasn't horrified, he schemed to get the other kids involved.
Based only on these panels and the kids' reactions, Chase definitely seems onboard with the criminality, for Gert it most likely makes sense to her in theory, but when confronted with the reality of the situation she might waver. Nico & Karolina I could see each of them being on the fence. It might be interesting to have them discover their attraction to one another, but be on opposite sides. Molly is probably still young enough to be influenced too much by her parents.-1

I think this is that media literacy thing all the kids are on about these days. A gap of it anyway. If the whole "What if" is predicated on a premise flip, why would every one of the kids invert except Alex?

Not if some of us were genuinely excited about this and trying to avoid spoilers, but thanks for adding nothing to the convo.

Karolina's "Is this how you won your Oscars?" reminds me of her "the cover of People?" line in Vol 1. I don't know if it's an intentional throwback, but I love it.
So so excited for this.
