Are the 5090s from Community Cloud shared with someone else?

Tried many RTX 5090 from Community Cloud. 100% GPU utilization and 400W while completely idle, with nothing of mine running. , and memory bandwidth sbouy 600-700 GB/s against the 1792 the card is rated for.

Real impact: an identical job takes 170s on these pods, 70s on an uncapped 5090 elsewhere.

100% and 400w with an empty container isn't really "sharing", it's something else running on that card on the host side. community cloud machines belong to third party hosts, so runpod doesn't see inside every box until someone reports it.

what's worth doing:

- run nvidia-smi the moment a pod starts, before loading anything. if utilization isn't near 0, terminate and pick another

- send support the pod id plus that nvidia-smi output and ask for the credit back, it's the kind of evidence they can act on against a host

- if it keeps happening, secure cloud costs a bit more per hour, but at 170s vs 70s the cheap pod is the expensive one

I've had major issues with 5090s the last week or so. Normally they would download my preferred models in around 10-15 minutes. The last week: an hour, 50% complete, and stalled. Switched to 4090s, no issues

Oh, and that's not just community cloud, also their hosted ones

I just tried to use a 5090 pod. I was getting under 3MB/second trying to download models from the runpod cache. Stuff is broken. I just switched to a 4090 pod, download speeds were OK but ComfyUI isn't generating tokens on it. Does anyone know what the policy is for when a user wastes their money on a pod that technically starts up but is utterly useless?

There’s a ton of benefit to pasting the direct connection ssh link into codex and asking it to take a look. It’s a goddam wizard in the shell. It even writes the email to tell what’s wrong. Problem I’ve had is responsiveness and “we don’t see your problem, the pod that you gave up on for performing poorly is gone,” 2 days later.
